You gotta understand you live there, you know what there is to do and the best places to go. These guys were visiting professional baseball players who were there for basically two days. The limited time they didn't have to play or prepare for baseball, they were able to leave their hotel but they didn't have a car. That means they could only go to places within walking distance and only made $250 every two weeks after taxes.

I live there… I can vouch. But, it’s still the not middle of nowhere . If the hotel was “next to the mall” then he was within walking distance of the happening restaurants/nightlife. Also, I could be at Dakota’s apartment in 3 1/2 hours. (That sounds unintentionally stalkerish) Additionally , I know busses are slower, but Eugene is a 6ish hour drive by car… no way it’s 10 hours by bus. ZS74 might be prone to exaggeration.
