Drew, if you're wondering how random countries always end up on number 1 it's because of the fact that you can use your money to improve your provinces, which is more cost-effective than conquering in this game. That's why countries who seem like they did nothing alwyas end up on number 1, if you want to check who does this, check their economic score at the end when you look at who is in the top 10

Yep, it is. But AI doesnt do it with most efficient way, which is "manually" getting more factories.
AI keeps factories extreme high in investments whole game, while making sure to have enough people for factories as well.
(But New Zealand in this videl had like max 10 provinces, so the turn must have been at least 3000 to score that high while australia having shit ton of land)

Drew, the ranking counts:
1. Population (The more people the bigger the score)
2. Economy (By how many people are employed)
3. Prestige (Gained by winning wars n stuff)
New Zealand probably provided jobs to everyone in their country (which increased the economy ranking), they improved provinces to get more pops and they probably won a few defensive wars which would explain the non existent expansion with NZ
New Zealand only had a population score of 18 and with Australia eliminating most of the threats nearby, they probably didn't have a high prestige score. My bet is that they poured all of their money into economy and research, maxing out their capital city with a huge economy and good technology to support development.
Economy is not the amount of employed people, its the number of [economy] you have overall, so If you don't have the pop to work in them, your not gonna profit form it, and for some reason economic score is just broken

At the final scoreboard, notice that there are 4 scores: one for population, one for Economy and one for prestige, wich are added up to make the total score. Some nations might seem to be very weak, but if they heavily invest in things like Population Or economy (like New Zealand did in your video) they can get quite a good score.

Drew, the games rather simple; the scoring system is between 3 factors: Population, Economy, and Size. If you have a giant population, you'll get a lot of score, if you have a massive economy, you'll get a lot of score, and if you are huge, you'll get a lot of score. One thing to note is that New Zealand always gets a giant economy at the end of the game since it just sits there and invests in into economy the entire game, and Bangladesh tends to win with population because it has super high population to begin with.
This makes me happy.

Australia has toke over Russia
The reason New Zealand wagon was because of their economy. In this fame you can improve provinces and economy, and if a country this small got 3rd then their economy and provinces are going to have tons of infrastructure and “economy” (economy in the game makes it to where you can spawn more troops on a province AND the province earns you more money per turn).
How the score works:
1. Population: self explanatory, how many ppl are living in the country.
2. Economic: I'm not 100%, but it's either how much a country earns per turn or how much money a country currently has. I think it's the later.
3. Prestige: pretty sure this value is for how many battles/wars have been won, with defeating stronger countries giving more prestige.
To get their positions on the leaderboard, the 3 scores are added together.
If an unexpected country is on the list, it means that the country hasn't been attacked much/at all, so their economic score keeps going up. So their population and prestige is a small score, but their economy is huge and makes their overall score huge too.
If you want a reliable way to tell who did best, ignore economic score. I don't think there's a way to filter/list what you want, so sucks a bit, but it's still a pretty reliable leaderboard.

Pretty sure they had a super powerful economy this is possible because when I play a small country I put all my earned money to development and research I can reach technology 1.5 while the rest of the world is still in like 0.75 so im pretty sure they got enormous population per tile maybe they reached max population and there economy should not be far behind.

How the scoring works is there are 3 categories, population, economy, and prestige. Population is how many people your nation has, farms, province growth rate, goods, and technology determine how fast a nation's population grows. Economy is how much money a nation generates, workshops, city investments, budget investments, technology, and development affect economic growth and income generation. Finally prestige, how many provinces captured, wars fought, and battles won. A combination of these scores as to overall score, which determines ranking. Some small counties like New Zealand can turtle and gain lots of economic score by investing heavily in one city while not fighting wars and with a small population. I suggest you look at different map modes because it can reveal how well a nation is actually doing underneath the surface. Province stability can be real low and revolts can destroy a seemingly strong nation while low economic and population score can hinder a nation's ability to produce a big army. Geography also changes a lot, some places have naturally high growth rates that make having a big population easier, for example, Indoneisa or Western Europe. Some places like Siberia will make your nation look thicc but not produce money or people. All the map modes are worth a gander during these videos to reveal a bit more.
I like to see Drew do one of doing a 1000 year campaign. I been inspired by the Paradox Mega Campaigns to make up one of my own for this game.
