Why are designers like this so succesful- rich people with more money than they need-but not enough to be truly happy. Is there anything more sad? Not really.
I agree, I think it is the Hedonic Treadmill, they are chasing the high of success and the money is nice but only really as a byproduct of the need for success to maintain a level of self worth. This is of course just my opinion but I think they don’t really care about the money as a need for survival but instead as proof that their life’s work was valuable, which I think is why they constantly accrue vast sums of money. If you want to get a better sense of how little the piles of money matter to the happiness of anyone but specifically the fashion world I would recommend reading up on Alexander McQueen. I was planning to do a video on him and have a finished script, but I think the topic is really heavy and I don’t know that I am qualified to make an informational video about it.
