Kate Middleton abandoned family graves

- Prince Harry has spilled the beans in his book and interviews but he's not the only one with family secrets. The Lupton side of Kate's ancestors on her father side are responsible for the wealth the family have accumulated, yet the graves of those who gave them their privileged lives have become neglected.

im rather happy i tipped you off about the place living a bit localer to it now ive known about it but never saw it till i took a walk once so i regularly if i can visit the site shame church is abandoned i saw a comment on a facebook group post saying the church is in such bad deterioration its ''unsafe to enter'' personally id love to get in and see whats left of the building and the state of all 3 bells and whats in the crypt always fancied sneeking into the south yard to nosie but given i never even stay long enough ive never asumed to get in to the south yard your braver then me as the cameras on the building put me off a bit but at least if i go and take me camera along i might just do it ! so your welcome for the tip off witch i aim to do if theres a church i go to witch you might like
Thank you again Harry. The church looks in good condition from the outside so I’m not sure what’s making it unsafe, maybe an issue with the crypt ceiling if I had to guess.
@@deadgoodwalks i think its due to neglect im unsure aswell if you had a chance to peep through the tower lock you would probrably see electric lighting left there with a wheel barrow i had a go to see if tower doors would budge but didnt get any luck can only asume the floor is unstable epesh if the crypt is underneath
Very interesting walk Dan. It seems no one visits, so overgrown. Thanks. 💗☮️
Hi Harry McAndrew
Good sir name.
I wonder if you'll be related to the Appleyards?
Leeds is still a good place to live. So many different places to visit.
There's a lovely churchyard at Kirkstall Abbey just up from there. It's so peaceful and looked after
Perhaps has history too no doubt.
Then what about St Mary's on Town Street in Leeds 10.
That holds some history....
We have many locations of churchyards. I often think what stories could they have told us if we crossed in time 'Parallel Universe" who knows. Would've been great to hear!!🖐️👍🦉
Sad to see cemeteries become so overgrown and decaying. Sadly happens everywhere.
That hasn't been touched in decades 👎 Reminds me of the Great Central Railway near where I live. And that closed in 1969 🚂 I would love to clear that churchyard up grab my cutters 😊
Yes it is I've had a team renovating an old cemetery in Cornwall it was in a disgusting state for nature they say there's more nature there now we cut it all back 8 species of butterfly's and loads of birds
Hopefully Kate or her parents will pay for some upkeep, they are lucky to have gravestones, my family have none.
😢
Another wonderfully interesting and informative walk, always love learning about people's family trees and seeing actual photographs of the people who have past on. May they all rest in peace. Brilliant work Dan. 💀🪦
Thank you James, it was a great bit of history to walk in
Beautiful video as always,,, It does make me so sad to think that when you die you are soon forgotten,, Only very immediate family will remember you for a few years at most,,, Will happen to us all, we too will be forgotten, Make the most of your time and live every day as if its your last, Tell your family and friends often that you love them xx
💚 Stay free. Rab
Well said and sadly so true.
Poxa, tenho amigos e familiares que se foi há 30 40 50 anos e são lembrados até hj, nunca ficou no esquecimento, nascer, crescer, e morrer faz parte das nossas vidas, seja feliz tbm. 🙏❤
i grew up next to a graveyard and i loved walking through it. it’s a nice place to walk and think. calming.
Well done Dan. Beautiful graveyard, too bad we couldn't see inside the church. It's a shame that it's not being cared for. Really enjoyed this video.
Thank you very much. I wish I could have shown you inside too
Thank you Dan for another great tour. Always learn new history all the time and I appreciate that. I am like you that I am surprised with veterans being buried there and Kate Middleton's family being buried there that there was not a little more clean up than I see. Was a great tour and thank you so much for sharing all those wonderful monuments.
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks Joel
Thank you so much for the videos, I am unable to walk far and used to love to explore cemeteries,, You bring much needed joy and entertainment ,
Sorry to hear that, really glad I can show you around x
Present!!!! (With my hand raised....)
This is why I choose cremation over burial no sad grave left 😞😞
Beautiful story ❤️ such a shame to see the church n Graves be forgotten 😢
This was very interesting, there are many people related to Kate Middleton. You did a wonderful tour for all to see her ancestors. I kind of wonder if Kate has ever went there to see her ancestors. Well, good work✌🏼✌🏼✌🏼✌🏼
I'd like to think she's been there, probably when she was a child. Thanks for watching Susan.
Yayy I’m so ready ❤
Dan your spoiling us with all these interesting and informative videos. It is a shame that the graves aren't maintained ,but I guess it it's a bit costly. It does add a historic vibe to it with all the ivy trailing over the graves .Thanks again for your tour ❤️🇨🇦
It's called UK Councils that spend money on useless projects and asylum seekers. When money does become available places like this suffer. And most people on DSS should earn and learn. Get them off there butts aswell.
@patricia lamb i tiped deadgood walks off about this site had a feeling hed like it
Kate Middleton's abandoned family monuments look in very good condition, just rather overgrown with brambles etc. The same applies for most of the other monuments.
Yeah could be a little better though. She's our future Queen and these graves are historically important in our history and should be maintained.
such a shame these graves are not taken care of...sad
The ornamentation on British gravestones is so beautiful. Love the copper accents and the detail about the individuals buried there.
😅😅 have you seen his video from Vienna?
That's beautiful
It's definitely one of the most informative graveyard tour videos I have seen. Hopefully, the British government will do something about the resting place of the next queen's ancestors. Well done. Informative and respectful.
Thanks for the lovely compliment granny bee. I hope they start looking after the place too.
I see no reason why the Government should get involved. It's a purely private family matter.
Hi Dan! Your vids are the best! Thanks for showing us all this beautiful history. I can’t wait to see all the cemeteries in the UK. I’m in the states and am obsessed with British culture and its cemetery history. I agree with everyone, this one needs some TLC. I wish I lived nearby to do something about it. It’s still beautiful though!
Beautiful place and graves. Greetings from Germany and Belgium stay save Dan ❤
What a shame they aren’t looks after. Beautiful cemetery though. All graves should be cared for. It’s our history. Great walk as always. Thank you for sharing. ❤
@ercka thats the pentecostal city mission for you who baught it for £1 supposedly agreed to maintain the site but did sods all belive the 2 grave yards are maintained by a charity group called friends of roundhay st john who aint doing a great job of south yard as id have asumed theyd try restore it to visitable condition sickens me that theres people buried there and ansestors could turn trying to find were saild ansestors are buried
I think it is better just leave those4 graves like that forgotten in time and let the nature take over again the land there. Looks peaceful
Very well done Dan, excellent! ❤️
A tip off from Harry 🤣
I bet so…..
Dan, "touchy feely" not you! 🤣 That was such a coup! Finding all that information on the Middleton's. It's a shame the future queen can't get that cleaned up and presentable.
lol I shouldn't be touching anything really, don't know why I was that day, things are interesting I suppose. I really hope someone starts looking after that graveyard, I'd happily give my time to help
@@deadgoodwalks Well that is Dead Good Nice of you!
I wanted to see inside the church!!! 😢😮
Princess Catherine is not responsible for everything in the family. She has enough on her plate without adding this to her. There is other family members other than she. Put it to rest people.😡😡😡
WOW You certainly find some interesting cemeteries , this one is massive. I live in the heart of Dorset and I have never seen such huge cemeteries....Great video. Thank you
You're welcome, thank you for watching
Really interesting and well presented. Thank you for the walk!
In one word beautiful! Some monuments are so beautiful. Thanks again for this video Martha
Thank you Martha
Catherine's family is there ⚰. Nice to know. I remember you, the Middleton and Goldsmith family members are very united, lovely and loyal.
Long life for the Prince and Princess of Wales 🏴 💕.
Middleton and *Goldsmith* family ... interesting to know. R
It is a shame that there is no grounds keeper to clean up all the brush.......it really needs some care!!!!!
Thanks for showing us this Andrew. Continue to be a strong guy thank u🙏🙏🙏🙏
No problem Susan ;) Dan x
Hope you notify someone when you go exploring..if you fall into a hole at least they know where to start looking..some of these fantastic cemeteries are not exactly busy thoroughfares..love the vids..from WA Australia
Thanks for all your great videos! I usually would get on find a grave to look at cool old cemeteries, these videos are so much better! I love the story and histories these old stones tell!
The Martineau family (cf) originally French Huguenots, were noted social reformers in the 1800s. Harriet Martineau was a famous early feminist. James Martineau was an Unitarian minister & influential religious philosopher.
Thank you for contributing :) Didn't know that
There were Martineaus in Birmingham during the late 19th/early 20th century. Very prominent family.
Very beautiful place, taken over and take care of by mother nature, I think it's beautiful as it is
Well ! That was a dead good walk
Fascinating, thank you
Thanks very much
Maybe the Middleton family dont know about this ,maybe someone should tell them ,just a thought
WOW the Princess of Wales has a lot of family in there. I wonder if they know. I wouldn't have a clue where 99% of my Parent's relatives are buried, especially my Grandfather on my Father's side, he was born in Scotland and immagrated to Australia. And I've never been to a graveside burial for my Mother's side, they get cremated. Which is weird because that side is Catholic.
Same here. I know where my grandparents are buried but no further than them.
Very cool find. I would love to wander UK cemeteries. We do it here in the States.
Well done yet again.
Thank you so much, I learned a lot from your video. I like the way these older graves often mention the profession & place where the person lived. I actually Google mapped the grave that mentioned “Park lodge Roundhay” & it still exists, so nice to see where the person buried here lived.
You're welcome Sally, oh really thats great. I love it when people do their own research from my videos.
I go straight on to Google maps too if I see an address.
Wow! That was very interesting. Such a lovely place for a final rest but that overgrowth had me wanting to fly over from the states with a mulching leaf blower and bag! It made my OCD hop into overdrive. I wonder how long it would take for a bunch of volunteers to clean it. Not take the character away but make it look like someone cares about the history of it.
Thank you for another informative “walk”
You should write a letter to KP office, remind them of Kate's ancestor graves that needs tending. Write the location in case they forgot. These people are so lucky to know their history. I only know of my great great grandparents grave. Information of generations before that has been lost
church isnt owned by the church of england now changed owners 2010 so current owners are Pentecostal city mission leeds branch
Thanks for sharing this
Census records are always interesting for Family Historians. I have been a FH for over 20 years and have found some interesting facts on census records.
Silverstars7882 I have tried researching my family history over the years but my family originated in Germany so it's difficult. Any idea how I learn more like why they came over, what they did in Germany etc?
It’s sad to know how this well known person (Katherine Middleton) is not taking care of the
Tombstones from her ancestors that paved her way to become who she is. This is very unfortunate and unacceptable and ungrateful from her part. She has an entire entourage that can build a team to take care of this matter.
I loved the first black cross grave as you came in with the brambles encasing it love your videos 💜🙏
Thanks, yeah theres some really beautiful stones in there, especially the ones with copper elements
I am unable to visit the family grave often. I have a lady who tends the grave putting fresh ( certainly not artificial) flowers every 8 weeks, in the winter just greenery, that is the respect I have for my ancestors.
Blooming well done , loved it...
Thank you sir!
I would take gloves and clear the brush off of the headstones. I don't think that would be disrespectful.
I'd take a soft horse hair bannister brush , and a plastic paint scraper to knock off light lichens
Einfach nur traurig einen Friedhof in einem solchen Zustand zu sehen.. 😮😢
hi, great video of yours...I love the old cemeteries which date from the 18th and 19th...it seems morbid on my part, but it's a place that I really like for the past...
A coworker of mine participated in her family hobby of tidying abandoned graveyards here in America. It is sad to see that beautiful old church wasting away. I wonder if there are any organizations in the UK that tidy up these long forgotten ancestral markers? It certainly would be a good project for students of landscaping and horticulture. Imagine before and after photos of these time capsules being included with their resumes/curriculum vitae when looking for full time employment. Thank you for this haunting look at long forgotten lives. Me? I think I’m going to donate my body to science. Maybe my old bones could help medical students learn how to conquer diseases that plague humanity now.
@kate S sadly this church closed 2007 and its current owners 2010 up dont seem to give a bugger about it
@@harrymcandrew1447 who “owns” a church and cemetery??? I thought counties or parishes or religions owned them?
That was very interesting 🧐 thoroughly enjoyed it.
Cheers Tracie
Hey Dan! Great video! After I watched your video I googled The friends of Roundhay St John‘s. The last Mass was in 2007. Amazing to think with all The wealth The Middleton‘s have and Royal influence that this site looks absolutely awful. What would a full time gardener including a van, fuel and tools cost per annum, £100-150K? To a wealthy family that is absolutely nothing. As a Person with a gardening qualification, this site needs immediate attention with a small team of 2 full time gardener’s and that’s just a start. Somebody in charge here should be approaching The Lottery fund/CofE or local government to save this beautiful church and grounds. I’m guessing to save the church is expensive, but to let it rot is crazy.
Love seeing my birthdate on a gravestone. I know its morbid but somehow I still get excited.
So sad to see how unkept this cemetery is.
I have no idea where my GreatGrand-Parents X's 4 cemetery is.
Great tour and very interesting ❤
Yes shame there is no one to look after the graves.
love from wisconsin ❤
I think this is so cool ty for showing it
another very interesting video mate, great little tour. time to finally catch up on you vids. for some reason push notifications had been turned off, im guessing youtube fked that up
Wow Thank you for that wonderful tour so much history in just one graveyard and lots of beautiful headstones too. I live in Norwich and we have Rosary Road cemetary which is victorian overgrown and very creepy. Mr J colman the founder of Colmans mustard is buried here with his family. A great place to explore if you ever take a visit to Norwich. Great video and look forward to the next. 😁👍
Thanks Damon, did you use to be in a band? lol. I'll take a look at that one thanks.
@@deadgoodwalks Hi I do share the same name as a Blur popstar I was a big follower of the band in the 90s as well as all the other britpop bands, was a great decade for music.
Waiting❤
Sad to see graves forgotten, it’s happened everywhere. I’ve found some of my ancestors (forgotten graves) where they are and they have no grave stone nothing at all, I’m still searching for my granddads dads grave is. I’ve found out what church yard he’s buried in but no luck in finding out plot, even the church didn’t know.
Keep on trying, you'll find him x
The cemetery where my maternal grandparents are buried has metal grave markers of some of the deceased. The families probably couldn't afford a proper headstone.
Sad, maybe it just costs your relatives too much to maintain the graves. I can't visit my great grandparents' graves as they are in a part of a town in Central America that is too dangerous to visit. Crime is so bad there thieves steal wedding rings by cutting the woman's fingers off. That's how horrible it is down there.
Interesting stuff. In the same breath, sad to see it so unkempt.
Dan, you're absolutely right, it's me about your words, when you came near the goldleaf cross.💪
I’m here and ready 😊
Absolutely great👍👍👍
What an amazing graveyard. The epitome spooky.
U did n awsome job presenting this cemetery to us in the USA. So crowded. I'd like to see how someone is buried between n above n below other graves. I think the overgrowth should b trimmed up a bit. Left on the ground but not climbing so names can't b read. As for the bone, quite interesting. I'd say its a thigh bone but it looks cut off n not decayed off. With the holes in the ground n the moisture, I'd say a grave caved in n animal dug up the bone. Why it appears to b cut, leaves me to wonder if it was from a leg removed/amputated before burial. Thank u for sharing ur time n knowledge with us.
Thanks Jeepgirl, hopefully they trim it soon so we can see everyone properly. I really hope it wasn't human, I'm sure a bone expert will pop up one day and tell us for sure, defiantly looked like an animal had been digging.
Beautiful cemetary and chaple
@danny the macho man savage its actully a church not a chaple well former church it shut 2007
I'm related to George Washington and Princess Diana is my 10th cousin.
Wow, they're packed in like sardines in this graveyard. Thank you for the tour.
Great Video Dan!! Well Done… don’t listen to the sensitive ones
You think with all the money they have , that they would take care of those Graves
Remember families move away, or families die out, that properly why graves not kept up. If cemetery closed down people properly will not visit.
Dan, please, it's OKAY to set the camera down to get over some of those rocks and vines. That place is very dangerous. You could have tripped and cracked your skull on a grave marker. I have absolutely no idea where it's safe to step. Ignore the people whining "Don't put the camera down." They should try running through that graveyard if they're angry about you setting the camera down to avoid tripping!
It doesn't look like a human bone, from the size I would say it could be from a cow or a horse. Perhaps fox or weasels have brought it there.
The villages could get their unemployed to keep these majestic graveyards looking as if someone cares.
Final comment: They all seem to be related, 12th descendants or more. What happened to First Cousins? [Rhetorical.]
R 🤔
Wow, another awesome video, Dan. But it makes me sad to see abandoned churchers and graves, all the people who are sleeping there forgotten. And my, Mrs.Windsor aka Miss Middleton does everything to stand in public for her charity acitivities for poor people, but she does not spend one penny of her huge fortune for her late ancestors, that's where you can see her true character, I cannot respect a behaviour like this. But well, it gives us the pleasure of watching another beautiful video from our favourite grave visitor. And nevertheless, this churchyard looks amazing, so peaceful, I would not mind to be laid to rest there. Thank you for your marvellous work, Dan.
Thanks Ramona, yeah it is sad. Hopefully someone will pay for the upkeep one day.
@@deadgoodwalks That would really be appropriate for somebody so rich and wealthy to remember where they came from.
@crystaldragon sadly its not just the south yard its the building aswell thats been neglected the fence i think is there due to the south yard supposedly being very unsafe to wonder in church building so i saw from a facebook comment is 'unsafe to enter'
It's so sad to see this cemetery in such bad condition. 😢
I have immense respect for the predecessor of any person…. Regardless of their position in the fraternity back in time…
However the hierarchical branch of any person shouldn’t be subjugated to mockery …
It’s not my place to criticise or hate anyone…
No need to belittle family for purpose of publication….kudos!!!
Its a real shame that this resting place fir these souls looks like this
So sad to see a Cemetery go through neglect. Not as bad looking as a few others I've seen in videos but still. . .It's exactly why I want to be naturally buried. My body can help the planet after I'm dead.
❤
It's difficult, emotionally and spiritually isn't it when we see unkempt graves? Yet it's natural for all of us to fade into Nature. Many graves were no doubt maintained when the contract between church and community was strong. That's all broken, devolved, bankrupt, sold on, over. Relatively few could even afford memorials/stones/angels or columns for the graves of loved ones in older times. These days I imagine it's similar. How could people afford to up-keep old graves nowadays? Who owns the land, especially if a Church has sold up and gone? Today many find that councils up-turn gravestones, remove tributes and dictate what can or cannot be displayed or even done at all. The whole backdrop of what death means to the living community has been eroded, dispersed. I don't think, in a crowded cemetery, it's fair to expect the newest version of a family to even know let alone keep vigil over family graves hundreds of years old. What about all the others - if one family could afford to do it but no others? Who even knows where all their relatives are scattered over this land or further afield in time and space? Many of mine are scattered to the winds of pre-biblical times. Should I, skint, be responsible for their worldwide graves (if they ever had one?) There is an innate sacredness and communality about graves nevertheless. This is why you, Dan, are doing such a lovely service. Every grave you show us reminds us of those who journeyed Life before. Doesn't matter any more if they were pleasant people or not, that was their journey too. But there's unity in respecting Life and Death; kind of makes us all stop and reflect about who we were, are, could be, should be. Sorry for going on, Dan! Thank you for your gentle voice and respectful walks among some of those who went before and left some of their stories in stone, wildflowers, tree roots and swirling, trip-foot ivy.
Do you think she knows about these ancestors that far back? I didn't know about mine until genealogy and never had a clue where they were buried until find a grave. Princess Diana has relatives buried in Ireland in a graveyard/cemetery that needs mucho work. I can't be hard on the Princess Kate. Thank you loved the video.
I would say she's well aware of the Luptons as it was them who gave the family their fortune.
And Family wealth does not always passed down or last. Kates parents how their own business.
William Penrose green was a big industry boss and Lord Mayor in Leeds
You definitely live up to the channel Except that was dead brilliant Always interesting Love to see the photos And the extra Bit about the person
Thanks Brian, I really enjoyed this one more than usual, it's great to show something so historic that not many people know about.
That's pretty cool. I would love to know if I'm in any way related to anyone famous but I don't know how to trace that far back in my family history.
Only just started watching your videos … oddly relaxing. 😊
Came across your videos a few weeks ago love them all
I’m surprised no one has gone in to clean this cemetery up as far as the grounds.
Fabulous cemetery.
Loving this graveyard even tho definitely overgrown!! And not because of Kate. Just a small chapel with Beautiful headstones (love the Celtic cross with the doves)!! I would love to see it taken care of!! I’m wanting to get out my weed whacker!! And my pruners!!!❤️🌸❤️
