That student can speak extremely well.
He can speak his own language.
It's not rocket science.
Great spokesperson though
@@alex0589 0:18 Through the what?
Yeah so articulate, NASA ought to be watching this kid
@@manuell3505 karmen line
@@alex0589 well, it is rocket science
"The sky is not quite the limit anymore"
Favourite line.
Guess the moon is the new limit. For now at least.
@@22jacktheripper22 Mars it is
Wow thats so amazing i cant even build my own rocket on Kerbal Space program
It needs more boosters
moment of silence for the thousands of lives lost in the pursuit of kerbal space exploration
Jebediah approves
Just mess around with the staging until it works
i want to play kerbal but i don't have a gaming setup
Congratulations to the USCRPL for this awesome achievement!
"The krusty krab secret formula" lol
What a dork. I love it.
Can you imagine if in 1958 we said "in 60 years some college kids are going to put a rocket into space"
That's called foreshadowing
-oversimplified accent
Fight on and fly on!
Sincerely,
A fellow Trojan who works for NASA
Truly amazing... just proves how hard it is to reach space .. well done !
@@Grunskulle yeah... Really hard. Some would even say it's FLAT out impossible.
Sincerely; Read More.
*NASA wants to know your location*
Dylan Schwartz Kim John un
Trust me... Most of the US government knows their current locations and has done background checks on them. That was most likely a part of their permission needed to conduct this type of research and materials handling.
@@Scott_C *its a joke*
@@junjiedong3482 I know, the meme / joke, this one wasn't funny. Since they clearly addressed it in the video, I took the opportunity to at least be informative.
Scott Cress r/woooosh
"The sky is not quite a limit anymore"
I love that quote :)
The krusty krab secret formula, the rocket is fueled by krabby patties.
Speed _ but how do they make the krabby patties?
A fantastic achievement for those young budding individuals. And Neil Tewksbury talked really professionally and comprehensively about the topic.

And I'm here can't even make sugar rocket..
You guys make this sound difficult. I mean it's not rocket science.... oh wait.
less plumbing and less custom manufacturing, less pieces
Don't forget to check your staging.
@@dynamitedinosaur4601 never stage your capsule decoupler in the second stage. Never fails to cause a near instant RUD
Model rocket science😉
you're so funny hahahahaha
Nicely done! Congratulations to all the past and present students that pulled this awesome achievement together. The future is in good hands.
And, I can't even launch a paper-plane properly, let alone a rocket! 😭

@enøziye two Jealous of my big beautiful smile? 🌚
What an amazing achievement! But can we just appreciate that the tagline for USCRPL is "Flight me"
"The sky's not quite not the limit any more"
-college space dude
What made this story great was the great journalism. Well asked.
9:01 gilfoyle is that you?
Please, please, please Wired include the metrical system in your videos (at least subtitles). CZcams is global, Wired is Global, the imperial system is local.
I would love that. Just give both measurements
I mean even in America we use the metric system for science like rocket science why tf are they using the imperial system
There are those that use the metric and those who put a man on the moon
@@LOL1423derp92 they're both the same, nasa uses the metric system.
@@LOL1423derp92 Reminds me that there are ll kinds of people in the world: those that understand binary, those that don't.
Reminded me of the movie "The October Sky"
Shahir Abdullah I was about to say that😂
One giant leap for college students, one tiny step for man kind
Wow... congrats to them.
Other schools need to set up their own classes for this.
I'm looking at you MIT and other awesome engineering schools.
There is already an international intercollegiate rocket competition it is just the goal not to get to space but rather as close to a specific altitude as possible. They launch at Spaceport America. And the competition is called the Spaceport America Cup
@@TheJttv Neat!
Now Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos will be fighting on whose gonna hire them!
well. this is their portofolio. so yeah. some of them will got recruited
They will probably all go to rocketlab
I hope they have CZcams channel to show us his works.
czcams.com/users/USCRocketLab There you go!
That's my school! Congrats USC RPL! 💛❤️✌🏾
Its amazing what human creativity can reach us today
How much did all the materials to make the rocket cost?
Awesome achievement! Congratulations!
The comments are so much better than the actual video as usual
next,
build a warhead
I really want to do a Space shot!
I tried to start a project like this 1 year ago, but then I saw the prices for the gas...
This is a solid rocket no gas used ????
@@funwithflags7506 You need gases like liquid nitrogen to get that to space, what, at least in my country, its very expensive.
I wanted to do this back when I was a teen with a group of friends but our teacher claimed it “illegal” lol
Hence all the filing with the FAA they mentioned
more like your country has laws against people experimenting on rockets.
So cool! These students are awesome!
11:20 so witttyyyyy
Great job! Fight on!!
Hopefully one day we'll be able to send a team to the moon & back.
but we have been to the moon.......
🤣
Haha.... Wait...
Now those are ROCKET Scientists.

Flat earther : It'S nOt ReAl ThEy PaId ThEm ThEy'Re PaId AcToR
where is the dome?
maybe in the next decade or two, we would see college researchers launch their own orbital-class rockets.
Where can I get the data to stitch together for myself?
@Mr Mapunde Is that where you left your brain?
I want their data stupid.
I don't get how solid rocket fuel can be inert.
nice job. hopefully these guys can compete with Space X one day
The light of invention, brilliant!!
1.01 the moment when you wins a million dollar lottery
I want to see the full Space video (the Karman line)🤔
The Karman line is an arbitrary definition where Space begins. Some countries use 80 km others the Karman line at 100 km
They now matched the size and strength of NKR rocket man rocket 😂 Kim Jon ung
really haha
Oh yeah well I can make a mean paper airplane
Now get it in to orbit
I love that his name is Neil.
Neil Armstrong
Jona literally been friends with him for years and it took your comment for me to notice this. I feel like an idiot.
Wow, not an easy task. Congrats.
Earth is stationary... Wow
'...unprecedented for us...
Unprecedented period haha
Man I'm in highschool and I bet I could do that but 10 times better, if I actually had the money to do something like that.
Wernher Von Braun be like “ha, that is very cute rocket”
You literally can't miss space......it's SPACE! the name says it all 🤣 but very well done.
Im sorry but the escape velocity is 25,000 mph
what if they got it stuck on the moon
gylfoil was on his team, cool
Tbh these days it's not difficult to launch stuff into a space, a balloon can reach space.
The space is the new frontier!
Yea, when Captain Kirk was doing it. When Nasa was doing it.
Also Spacex and blue origin
New frontier? Space is old and I thought it was the final frontier
Crusty Crab's Secret Formula, classic!
what an awesome accomplishment !
Solid can be a fuel?
North Korea: Can't get nuclear warheads on rockets into space
US College Students: Send up rockets in there free time
My school UNH, launches sounding rockets...
Our college too launches sounding rocketa
Congrats guys. It's a good feeling and I'm glad to know that the FAA granted you all waivers for the flight. That's a whole nother ball game in it's own
This is wrong, they are not the first to do this in 2002 the air force academy cadets started a program known as falcon launch they hold the record for collage students putting a rocket into space. Their current record is 355,000 feet which is well above the karman line at 330,000 and was achieved on april 24, 2009
Sorry can you use metres? I don't know what a feet is
That is brilliant.
Wired should come check out UBC. We do the same thing.
Amazing accomplishment for these students. However, when one thinks of sending something into "space", generally you think of the payload or vehicle having a stable orbit or a stable sub orbital trajectory.
I don't get it...wheres the dome? ;)
A curvature, I see... :o
Keep in mind that most of the time curvature in videos like this is due to the fish eye lense (which is used in order to capture widest possible field of vision). Even at the Karman line, Earth's curvature would be barely noticeable. Earth is simply this huge.
Pause at 2:12 when the earth is in the exact middle of the screen....look at that beautiful, sweet sweet curvature...let's see how the flat earthers try to spin that..great job kids!
Roger Moore I’m no flat earther, what you’re seeing is the fish eye lens though. See the curve fluctuations and flatten.
You dipshit it's a fisheye lens. Your a moron.
Oh look at 2:09 it's a flat earth. Bonehead.
@@keithfiredive thats the no distortion part of the lense. Its the true picture
How did nobody get the joke
lmaoo in the Netherlands they did this half a year ago or something
nah it failed
Base 11 competition still open, they didn’t beat it
Ok. Next step, college students build something orbital
@WIRED
Link to the full video?
What type of warhead? Сontinuous rod ?
Talk about getting high in college.
Underappreciated comment
Fight on! ✌️

What caused the damage to the nose cone of this rocket?
Air resistance. Obviously. Why? are you gonna imply 'The Firmament'?
@@jueeceinahoven7213 Are you part of the rocket's team?
@@josephw4830 Are you a flat earther?
Mjolnir
Donald Joe Trump
No, no it isn't. And no, no it hasn't. Quite the opposite actually, it's been proven thousands of times *not* to be flat. People are just stupid.
I really want to send my own rocket into space. I’m 14 and I really love space and I’d say I’m doing well at school. We have the opportunity to send a rocket to space with our names on it if we win this competition but I’m not confident enough so I’m gonna wait till I’m older and team with people to send my own rocket to space.
Fly baby fly!
Actually, y’all should check out utah state university because they’ve been doing this for years. They even have a partnership with nasa but students design both satellites and the rockets. But congrats to them too!
But they Utah State hasn't been to space
Most large universities have similar programs. For example, my University has 3 rocket clubs and a cubesat club. It's still super impressive to launch anything, it's just not very rare anymore
imagine delaying such a cool college project by multiple months by shutting the government down to throw a tantrum because nobody wants to give you money to destroy your relations with a neighbour state as much as possible...
Im so happy to see something like this! Awesome guys!
Waiting for the Warp Drive and the Nuclear Fusion Reactor. This will take us to Alpha Centauri.
Nice job all. Real goos stuff. Rocket scientists.
I'm guessing four is the lucky number for all rocket launches
Cool. Soon i see launching a rocket to space gonna be like a pc build. Everything is known and your task is just to hold a screw driver.
Weren't there a lot of students do this before? I hope they can make something into orbit, not just some space.
FIGHT ON!
Not the same problem as orbit though.
Thats cool
I wonder how much Kerbal Space Program those guys play :P
Wow that's what every science student should like
