      @@zacharycossey4998 ehh, I mean I've been watching Marty for 10 years at least, not as much nowadays but what I can say about his lessons, although he's a great player and teacher, he doesn't teach or play accurate representations of the songs he's teaching. He teaches his version of songs, axe of creations is spot on and the only channel I watch for tool lessons,he breaks it down in a way I can actually get it pretty quickly compared to others

    We missed you! Awesome breakdown, you made it real easy to understand the rhythm! You had mentioned that the 11\4 is a 3+3+3+2 feel, and that later the meter changes once to a bar of 3 and two bars of 4. 3+4+4 is also an additive rhythm adding up to 11. Them Tool guys is sneaky!!

    • @axeofcreation
      @axeofcreation  Před 9 lety +3

      Thanks my man! Nice catch too. I probably should have mentioned that (it still adds up to eleven). It's just a lot easier for me to count/feel the 3+3+3+2 that when the 3+4+4 kicks in, it feels very different. 4 never felt so long!

    • @Thelonelyscavenger
      @Thelonelyscavenger Před 9 lety +1

      axeofcreation Like I said before, you are a great teacher! I love how you throw some theory in your lessons instead of just explaining "how to play it". I also like how you talk about the style of the guitarist and the time signatures used. Odd time signatures of 11, 13, 17 for example can be frustrating to play or "feel". But quite often they are written based on fragments added or "pieced" together. Dream Theater and Tesseract appear to use this frequently.

Great job not messing around with the small stuff and keeping the lessons interesting. As you said, Adam's variations are endless he even plays them differently live each time. I love the way you explain the time signatures as this is one of the most difficult things for me to master.

    axe, your Tool videos are fantastic and I have learnt most of them well through your lessons. However, it is a bit of a shame that you don't talk much about your rig set up.. What software, how to get the right tone/sound, what delay settings and other effects? You seem to have the intro sound spot on & I don't really know how to get that using what I have available. I use amplitube 3 so there is lots to play around with in terms of amps, cabs, and effects pedals. Anyway, just a suggestion! Cheers.

    • @scareneb
      @scareneb Před 9 lety

      also, is there any reason you're using a strat & not your VGS?

    • @axeofcreation
      @axeofcreation  Před 9 lety

      +scareneb I no longer have the VGS, hence the fender. I'll probably make a video about it at some point. The issue is I'm always using something different. The older Tool lesson is the POD Pro. I use Bias and the Positive Grid software a lot. It would probably be a more "in general" kind of explanation.
