Between opening with this and closing with that amazing version of Thunder Road this gig was just incredible. He really is just indescribably talented and brilliant.
What a night… the ultimate Sunday evening with shadows and reflections. Never expected to hear this live. 80000 people singing back to him. Will never forget it
Thankfully I was there to hear this, he started playing Incident and I immediately started crying, I never thought I would be so lucky. Thank you Bruce.
It was such an amazing gig.
One of the most beautiful songs ever. I would've used all of my life savings to see this live. Bruce is the voice of multiple generations. May his music live on forever.
I can listen to him playing the piano and sing all night
i was there...couldn’t believe that he opened with this....it was magical!
Fantastic moment. In the pit, as it usually is, people spent the concert drinking, talking, and pushing their way through the crowd. But in this one moment, i swear to god, all 5000 of us just fell silent, stopped moving and watched on in amazement
I WAS THERE!!! still can't believe it...amazing start to an amazing night
This was possibly the best 9.07 minutes of my life - thank you for capturing it.
That's so sweet.
Lucky Dublin! Just walks on and sits and plays. Amazing
I could listen to this forever. What a special day that was. Thank you Bruce.
what an unbelievable intro brilliant and moving song best Bruce concert I was ever at
That is just perfect.
I attended more than 30 concerts all over the world but he never did this wonderful intimate song... thank you for sharing, thank you!
Holy shit! He's just too good.
incredible
Best two days of work I ever had they don't call him the boss for nothing amazing shows
What a great opener...
don't really appreciate how good this actually was on the day till to you see it again again again pure magic long live the boss.
I come back to this video here on the net quite regularly and I am always happy that someone has recorded this magical moment. Thank you for that.
Stunning stunning song. Many nights I drove down Cleethorpes promenade melting into the night listening to this. Gorgeous story, beautiful music . Street life drama from the coolest romeo xxx
I once drove through Cleethorpes very fast
I wasn't at the concert but Incident On 57th Street is a classic to me like so many of his other masterpieces. Peter Nolan. Dublin. Ireland.
it was amazing...
Hello Fiona, I am very happy that you enjoyed the concert and who knows when he comes again I will go to that concert in the future. I saw Bruce live in the RDS years ago though. There are still a few of his most recent albums that I have yet to buy. I have always loved his album The Ghost Of Tom Joad. I know the title track off by heart and whenever a song gets stuck in my head I just sing The Ghost Of Tom Joad and that resets my brain back to a nice feeling. There is so much more I can write but I hope you get the gist of how I feel. Many thanks for saying hello. Peter Nolan. Templeogue, Dublin 6W
Lovely...Bruce is such an amazing man...the one and only Boss .... Cheryl
Awesome awesome awesome!!! Thanks so much!!
Je l'adore
Amazing live performance.....
Really appreciate you recording this. For a lot of us there this was our most longed-for track. Will never forget it. Cheers.
First time I got it live. Then I got it again in Paris the following month. Hell of a tune.
and you have 186 views on your copy 😁
it was truly magical
Tingles down the body.. Always a sign of a great song
love it, love it, love itttt!!!! thanks
Best gig i was ever at. That 6th time to see bruce. Hope there many more.
Neuf minutes de grâce absolue , c'est tout simplement magique !
This song, along with NY City Serenade, are two of the finest tracks he ever wrote and what makes Wild and Innocent his best album. Born to Run may be what brought him fame and Born in the USA what made him a superstar, but neither top this record for heart, honesty and beauty. I've seen most of his tours since the 80's, including the anniversary of The River tour. As far as music goes, if I could have one wish it would be to see Bruce touring The Wild, the Innocent & the E Street Shuffle, including Federici, Clemons and Sancious. Little Stevie, Roy and Nils could be in the mix, complementing the band, but I want to hear this record in its entirety, as it was released: a glorious tapestry of humanity....
One of Bruce's greatest songs performed brilliantly here solo on piano...what a start to a show.
Just think , these lyrics were composed when he was in his early 20s !!!! A superb album
Wow! Nostalgia unleashed. And playing the piano yet. A first for this Spruce fan, and a longtime since hearing this gem.
Thank you for taking this video!
Marvellous!! Great song, great Boss,,, great video Too!!
Thanks Bro!!
Gretings from Spain
Brilliant!
Wow. Thank you so much for getting this one up!
Lyrics:
"Incident On 57th Street"
Spanish Johnny drove in from the underworld last night
With bruised arms and broken rhythm and a beat-up old Buick but dressed just like dynamite
He tried sellin' his heart to the hard girls over on Easy Street
But they said, "Johnny, it falls apart so easily, and you know hearts these days are cheap"
And the pimps swung their axes and said, "Johnny, you're a cheater"
And the pimps swung their axes and said, "Johnny, you're a liar"
And from out of the shadows came a young girl's voice, said, "Johnny, don't cry"
Puerto Rican Jane, oh, won't you tell me, what's your name?
I want to drive you down to the other side of town
Where paradise ain't so crowded and there'll be action goin' down on Shanty Lane tonight
All the golden-heeled fairies in a real bitch-fight
Pull .38's and kiss their girls goodnight
Goodnight, it's alright, Jane
Now let them black boys in to light the soul flame
We may find it out on the street tonight, baby
Or we may walk until the daylight, maybe
Well, like a cool Romeo he made his moves, oh, she looked so fine
Like a late Juliet, she knew he'd never be true but then, she really didn't mind
Upstairs a band was playin' and the singer was singin' something about going home
She whispered, "Spanish Johnny, you can leave me tonight, but just don't leave me alone"
And Johnny cried, "Puerto Rican Jane, word is down, the cops have found the vein"
Them barefoot boys left their homes for the woods
Them little barefoot street boys, they said their homes ain't no good
They left the corners, threw away their switchblade knives and kissed each other goodbye
Johnny was sittin' on the fire escape, watchin' the kids playin' down the street
He called down, "Hey little heroes, summer's long, but I guess it ain't very sweet around here anymore"
Janey sleeps in sheets damp with sweat
Johnny sits up alone and watches her dream on, dream on
And the sister prays for lost souls, then breaks down in the chapel after everyone's gone
Jane moves over to share her pillow but opens her eyes to see Johnny up and putting his clothes on
She says, "Those romantic young boys, all they ever want to do is fight
Those romantic young boys, they're callin' through the window
Hey, Spanish Johnny, you want to make a little easy money tonight?"
And Johnny whispered, "Goodnight, it's all tight, Jane
I'll meet you tomorrow night on Lover's Lane
We may find it out on the street tonight, now, baby
Or we may walk until the daylight, maybe"
Goodnight, it's alright, Jane
I'm gonna meet you tomorrow night on Lover's Lane
We can find it out on the street tonight, now, baby
Or we may walk until the daylight, maybe
He has a very special way of capturing the moment. It was some weekend and emotional for Springsteen too I believe. Thanks for capturing such a great song. I thought Hearts of Stone acoustic was special in Limerick but this blew it out of the water.
Wonderful!! tnx for sharing
une merveille a écouter
Adoro il Boss x la voce le canzoni ma soprattutto perché mi trasmette emozioni da 30anni e ad ogni suo concerto trasmette quanto gli piace essere lì a fare quello che fa ❤️
Now we're getting somewhere. I hope he remembers this one when he gets to Jersey.
worth the entrance alone
I love bruce I want his baby
Es la canción perfecta. No puede haber ninguna mejor.
Incredible!
I am so sorry for losing faith in you again, Bruce. You are so forgiving. Thanks for letting me back into the fold.
Seen the Boss twice before this gig and never considered myself a fan until he played this song. What a show.
How???
It took you 3 shows to become a fan?
The best incident on 57th Street he has a ever sung
class intro!!!
Thanks so much for sharing this! It is my all time #1 favorite Bruce song. We're going to Night 1 at MetLife Stadium in NJ Aug 23rd, maybe we'll be lucky to hear it! We live in the US and were blessed to attend the Rome, Italy show in 2013 where he played this as well as NYC Serenade. Epic! Thank you, this is an awesome version of my favorite song. I think this version may be #2 to the Mainpoint version 1975!
lovely man x big up bruce
wow that was an opener? nice =D i always wanted to hear it live and him playing on piano! hopefuly he does something similar on one of the 2 milano dates soon!
Che bella questa versione!!e proprio un viaggio!!!😢😇😍😍😘😘🌟🎶💫💎💯
At last!!
what an opener when will he be back to ireland
My favourite song and still great despite f@cking up the lyrics half way through. First time for everything or then again second time for lighting the soul flame.
Long live fire
Classy! A pretty good setlist that night including Point Blank and Independence Day. www.setlist.fm/setlist/bruce-springsteen/2016/croke-park-dublin-ireland-5bfef708.html
Great start to a great show........wish they'd go back to RDS though. Croker is TOO FCUKING BIG
The first song in Ireland
uncle Bruce
See that little Brown thing under the keyboard? That's Bruce's little bear paw hand that is.
does music get better than this? silly question no it does not
If Mr. Springsteen wants to see a grown man with very wet eyes, he'll do play that in Copenhagen - Fingers crossed:)
Not gonna happen. It's a sparsely played song.
nearly as good asmaine point 75 but aincredable gig same as one before it
Could Justin Bieber draw as many people in Croke Park?
Nope, and that's why he's playing the 3Arena this November.:)
*****
Are you attending? Ha
+Mr Sarajevo never ask me that again...
but why does that matter? just enjoy the song mate.
Rare? LOL
It is just rare in the sense that it's only been performed solo ten times in Europe in the last 14 years and it was the first time ever played in Ireland.
Rare in that Bruce is playing the piano instead of Roy.
Bruce starts show with solo piano rendition of Incident. Not rare? LOL
Yes very rare
