  • A massive storm pummelled South Africa's eastern coastline earlier this year, washing heaps of trash onto Durban's beaches. We gathered the Earth Touch troops to lend a hand in the cleanup efforts and to learn more about how plastic pollution effects our already fragile environment.

Buying plastic is not the problem it is having the availability to dispose of it properly

A skid steer (running on veggie oil) and a compactor would have cleaned this beach 1,000,000 times more efficiently than hundreds of people. Great video!

Large wealthy organisations could contribute towards plastic recycling, eg the mining industry in SA.

You can buy plastic bottles, glass bottles, etc. but they have to be recycled. They need to dropped in a recycling bin abs processed instead of trash.

Almost everything in the grocery is wrapped in plastic. You would have to stop eating.

I am also concerned about our environment. But this video [via the voiceover] suggested we use no plastic ever. If we buy no bottled water, household cleaners, and single use plastic.I appreciate the sentiment, but I don't think that's a feasible solution. What replacement can you offer? 🤔

@@brianisme6498 It would be a drop in the ocean compared to the amount of co2 the volcano itself is pumping out.

Hello Earth Touch. My name is Bianca and i am from Khuthaza Foundation a NPO situated in JHB. I have a favor to ask please. Is it possible to feature the above cleanup video on our website? This will align with one of our passion projects witch is river and community cleanups. We are looking for like minded individuals and communities to feature on our webiste and there are not allot of cleanup videos out there.
