- I finally got the right tunnel and characters output so I can properly play Rolfe! He works great, I still need to clean up the data on the showtape. It may be the reel to reel going bad or it could just be the showtape itself is getting worn out.
Unfortunately...my air compressor couldn't keep up with Rolfe. I am using 60psi, the air compressor was working overtime trying to provide air pressure. The air pressure got low as 30psi which results in sticky valves and some loss of movements.
In addition to the test, I replaced the mouth cylinder and Earl rotate cylinder with brand new cylinders from the original manufacturer.

If you had a lot of time it would actually be very possible to build a similar animatronic. I wouldn’t garantee it would be cheap but servos and laminate sheets aren’t too expensive

That is beautifully done, I always loved the little lifelike ear twitches Rolfe had in the videos of complete shows. Great restoration, even without the cosmetics he's amazingly lifelike. Hope you can get him completed someday, I can't even begin to imagine how hard it might be to find that stuff but I'm sure something will turn up. Good luck and keep us posted!

roadchewer PE No, but Earl is so heavy that it can be hard for him to move especially when the other characters are all active.

I think the clicking sound is from the air valves opening and closing since they're exposed. That's why they were put under the stage to minimize the sound

This is both fascinating and terrifying. I always found animatronics unsettling. There is just so much going on here, and any robot makes me uneasy (I just think they will malfunction and go strange), and this was even before I knew about Five Nights. I never even trusted my Furby to work properly. But you gotta admire the craftsmanship of this all

this one is pretty vintage but I would love to as well. I imagine the animatronic itself would be easy but the electrical side of things such as programming movement and regulating air flow would be harder to do.

I know the greybox is especially two computers, top and bottom drawer with each running half of the show and I’m wondering how they interact with the show tapes.
Like dose the tape have four tracks, stereo sound and show data? Or is it two tracks and if it is are show tapes in pairs? Thank you to anyone that would leave a response (i really haven’t found this anywhere)

I only have the body and Rolfe skull fiberglass. The body fiberglass is in poor shape and I will replace them when I find a better one. No cosmetics, I only have Rolfe feet and leg fur.

Yep, the stuff that the Rock Afire Explosion were programmed during the 90's after the end of the Showbiz Era sorta seem to fell into obscurity. In fact a small handful of Rock Afire Explosion segments from the 90's either remain partially found or lost
