#Flex #Stiff #Deck
Great video Chris! Keep it up. Personally I started with a GTX, moved to a carbon GTR but missed having a bit of flex, so got a Boosted V2 Dual+. Being a heavier rider though, I do most of my riding on the carbon GTR because of the added range, speed and stability.
Thanks for watching man, really appreciate that. Never owned the V2 but would have loved to.
Really? I went from a Stealth to a Carbon GTR, I need more range lol I love the carbon GTR series!
A lot of good information. You both gave good arguments for both boards and I was going back and forth to what board would suit me better. I like the idea of the carbon for longevity of life & cleaning, but need the bamboo for the surfaces I can ride on.
Great video again!!
I think it is worth mentioning that hitting the ground due to flex on AT wheels even for a heavy rider is very unlikely (street wheels yes).
Also durability of decks, I think if you happen to have a heavy hit on the carbon it would be very hard to repair whereas bamboo absorbs impact much better and will likely only get a dent.
Great vid, boys.
Cool vid. Love the evolve boards for carving. Have you had a chance to ride the onewheel yet? It's a totally differnt experience to the longboards. 👍
One wheel is more fun than every other e-board
Very nicely produced video. Quick question, with street wheels, how do you deal with the back wheels drifting when going over tactile pavement/drain grates?
Damn that’s a good one. I just either avoid those surfaces or brace and straighten up the board before riding over them. Things like this is why AT is so nice BUT the speed and torque from street wheels is hard to do without. Both of benefits
@@averageeskatereviews When you try the Lacroix you'll see you get the best of both worlds X10 😉
Great video! Are you constantly using AT wheels now? Ever ride any of your older boards like the Exway or Boosted?
AT is my go to if riding in London, commuting, riding in bad weather or just after savage carving. If it’s a warm day, I’m either on the GTR Carbon with 107mm or Stoke. I stopped riding the boosted until I put the surf adapter on it.. now I take it out for fun every now and then. Both my Exways are broken and waiting for them to be collected for repair. Haven’t touched the Vestar since reviewing it (review not published yet)
@@averageeskatereviews Thanks, always interested in your videos and information
Is the Skate bolt tornado all terrain a good off-road and road board?
From all I heard everything is on point only thing I would add is the Exway for a stiff board has a foam grip tape compered to the Carbon GTR which I believe it a laser grip tape. But I like the flex for where I live.
The foam grip tape really doesn’t do much (in my opinion) not enough to refer to it as a “stand out” feature if you get what I mean?
average eskate reviews I know because I’ve tried. I’m just not sure if it would help for quick rides. I only used it once. But use a board long enough your see which one is better & for what
I have to go the GTR Carbon im a heavier rider I like the look as well , Bamboo would be comfortable tho but speed for the carbon is stability
Sounds like you're saying Stiff decks ride like Alpine Snowboards and Flex rides like a park board, which makes sense given one is fast in a straight line and one is fun.
Do I have to have an off-road board to be able to ride over pebbles and rocks
Is an 8 layer maple deck flexible?
This video is very Evolve-centric... Perhaps mention other brands for comparisons? (Slick Revolution Urban Kick, Exway Flex, TeamGee H20-T, etc.)
Rite on keep it up guys
I know it has nothing to do with the board stiffness, but I just wanted to know if the overheating (VESC/MOTORS) is a major issue in eskate world, while riding the board hard - fast, all day, uphill, etc.
In my experience as long as you're not riding a really steep hill for an unreasonable amount of time the wind does a good enough job of cooling down the motors
Mid length stiff decks are these best. Meepo mini 2 ER with 100mm wheels.
Hi all 😀 I’m 17stone 😭 What do I need (apart from a friggin diet !!) . . . . I like the look of the Evolve Carbon but I wonder, because of the close wheel base of the Evolve Stoke, if this would be a good choice ? Obviously being a much shorter wheel base, the “Stoke”shouldn’t flex much. “Flex” is my enemy !!
Gonna get a evolve bord tomorrow whats the best tip you can give for a snowboarder going to learn how to eskate ?
Stay off the black runs.
i'm like you! same opinion, ive got real issue about the design, the look of the bambo GTR! i prefer the old bambo design so much!
at the end, ive bought a bambo gtr for the flex, but i dont found it 'sexy", the carbon gtr or the old bambo are much more better looking board.
I think the bamboo is the one to go for all day long. Longboards are about carving & pumping & the bamboo does it much better than a rigid deck. Plus bamboo soaks uptake vibrations that’ll stop your feet from going numb. There’s no real point talking about the carbons top speed stability, when the double king-pin trucks inherently make it unstable because it’s designed to carve!
But how about going very fast.. I think the stiff deck is better in terms of stability and the predictability of the deck. What do you have to say about this?
I’m happy going top speed on any deck but agree. Stuff decks are more stable at speed but the vibrations and impacts from rough roads are better handled on a flex deck. If you get your balance improved and bushings and trucks set up right.. Either deck type will work fine.
You will also have enough stability with flexy decks
Note!!! This video is sponsored by Apple 😂... thx for teaching me the grapevine.
P.s. idk if the laptop is intended to be there, but it just a bit big in the middle of the frame.
Eddy Z Yeah I know right
It’s there to monitor audio levels and any possible microphone interference. so very much intended to be there.
Ok thanks for clearing it up because it did seem a bit odd👍🏼
Here's the hard hitting question for you both. Is that Subban picture autographed? Cuz that's badass.
It was painted for a Hockey Tutorial documentary shot in Kenya. It’s not signed by Subban but by the artist. My habs jersey is signed tho 😎
@@averageeskatereviews Damnnnn!
9.09 i think he meant Carbon
Yeah he did for sure.
He said flexy deck... 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Love your channel Chris - but review some other board brands! Most of us avoid Evolve...
Emily Davis much appreciated but I review what I have and what I like, find interesting or believe I can offer more insight on. Requests are great but my pockets aren’t limitless. Other brands means more money, more time more general investment. This is a new channel, be patient.
@Emily Davis not at all
@@gghdjekrkk7711 Evolve has a well-founded reputation as a deathtrap, not fixed with the GTRs. My buddy just got a GTR and it disconnected six times his first ride till he turned off the oh-so-ironically named deadman switch
