Welcome back to Dean Park! This is a PACKED update this month as I show you how to create realistic landscapes, static grassing, making bushes, installing fencing and ballasting. Along with a look at the pre production sample of the Accurascale Class 60! Finally, I share some highlights of the Cupar Model railway exhibition. Wow....its a busy video!

Hi John. Thanks. Glad you like the way I put this one together. Some people would spin this out to a 2 hour video, but I like to keep things to around 30-40mins max, so I edit it down and mix it up a bit.

As always Dave, a well explained and nice mixed update. The area by the gasometers has really come to life with the ground cover and bushes being added. It was nice to hear you mention about the difference between the lineside in steam days and the gradual infestation towards the tracks being allowed on the real railways. If only they had kept the lineside as well maintained as it was back in the steam days , not only would there be hundreds more viewing points all over the network to take photos BUT most importantly...."Leaves On The Line" would not even exist in railway vocabulary, let alone cause traction issues for wheels. 👍
Nice piece of work. The music goes well with it. In fact, I would mark it up as a very nice piece of jazz guitar!!

Those poly fibre leaves look very realistic.
My favourite layout on CZcams! Fantastic work, this sets the standard for OO gauge modelling that all modellers dream off!
A great job on the Gas Tower corner with the landscape plus the static grassing Your line side landscape is excellent and the modeller should follow you. Mike HO Australia
Hi Mike. Thanks for your kind words. I’m pretty happy with how that gas tower corner has all come together. Lots more to do in terms of scenery at this end of the layout….which I’m looking forward to doing over the coming months.

Great to see a re cap on your technique for covering embankments as I am soon going to be doing some scenery again after a few years. The show looked to have some good layouts.

That's a very realistic mix of colours and shapes in the foiliage on your embankment - most impressive.
Cheers. I like to go for more muted colours and avoid the bright greens. :-)

It thee were some nice layouts there, accurascales 60 looks nice, I am after a new 60 as I currently have a hornby one but when I bought it it wasn’t in the best condition, while I do say accurascales is nice I am also looking at the upcoming cavalex one, to be honest I think I’m leaning more to the cavalex one because my 56s from them which I have recently fitted the sound decoders to have been some of the best models I have got this year and with the 56 being a great first loco from them it’s very fair to say that their upcoming 60 will be just as good.
Nice job with the poly fibre. I've been experimenting with cheap/own brand chopped parsley for leaves. The different brands all seem to be slightly different shades of green, so you can get a good variety. Cheers
Great video as ever Dave, and awesome work on that corner of the layout! Also, the accurascale class 60, even right now, looks awesome! I'm getting the coal sub sector one, as my late dad was a miner at, among other collieries, Seafield, in Kirkcaldy! What was your favourite layout from the show? There were quite a few ones I liked best, in particular the Studio tour, and the Japanese set layout! And, don't worry, once I have a chance, I'll be investing in a microphone for myself, to use with my camcorder!

no matter how hard I try I can never get the holes in the right place for fencing. The solution i have come up with is to remove the middle pegs and just use the end ones and this seems to work fine.
Nae wonder I was knackered on Saturday night, you must’ve been off the stall for about 2 hours filming the Cupar show highlights
Two hours?! The heat in that hall must have got to you, and your watch. I was away for less than 20 mins 😝

where do you get your poly fibre from please, have the leaves, but have always used seafoam for bushes in the past, have never seen it used before
It’s a woodland scenics product. So any stockist of their stuff will have it!
Not bad for a gas works!! Before I cook on my stove, it has to be replaced by a new induction hob. I don’t like using things that produce carbon dioxide!!
Which show was the end of the video taken at? It certainly had some gorgeous and interesting layouts attending!!

Yeah sure! All gauges. You can stretch it pretty thin.
A review of the class 60 would have been good with the running, it could have helped with the sales for Sooner rather than later would have been have been far better
A closer look will follow very shortly. My look at the model is not focused on driving sales. It’s to share the details with others. It’s really up to people watching whether they want to buy.

@@DeanPark mine sort of have ballast overlapping. But thats because thats how the prototype looked...
I dont know Edinburgh station that well, is that how they looked?
When I went to school they were called gasometers
