Donnie sure likes the word “ludicrous” a lot.
He’s guilty as sin.
I believe you. But guilty of what? Did Donnie really try to murder his own family? Or did he try to burn the place down to get the insurance money with some other lowlifes. And if that happened, did things simply get out of hand and two people were shot to death?
Just what was his involvement with the burning of the place and the grizzly gunning down of his two sisters? A business was destroyed and two people were cut down by gunfire. That much we do know. Also, Donnie was yelling at people in the nihht to "get out of there." Who was he yelling at?

Rip Jill and Julie.
How lost the kidnapper looked when he couldn't find his cheat sheet I was in tears roflmao.
That jury must have had an I.Q. of about 70 to believe that story from the defense.
Donnie did it, and here's a possible scenario to explain any slight doubt based on the assumption the re-enactment is accurate to the case. He planned to shoot the entire family for the insurance money and cover the crime scene with the fire. He shot the sisters and they didn't die instantly as he had planned, with one of them trying to run away to escape. He panicked and started the fire early. When he saw his parents coming he shouted at the escaping sister to "get out" so he could claim to have been trying to rescue them from the fire. The neighbors saw Donny and the sister that was trying to escape from a distance, and assumed they were two men who had set the fire.
The prosecution's mistake was seeking the death penalty; even though Donny deserved it, the jury would be more reluctant to sentence a 21-year-old kid to the death penalty if any doubt whatsoever could be introduced in the courtroom. If that hadn't been on the table they would have likely sentenced him to as many life sentences in prison as the prosecutors wanted.
The mother said he was chasing after someone , she didnt say he was saying get out to the sisters
Donnie never said he tried to help the sisters , maybe someone should question that because according to the mother he was talking to someone else.
The second story is so difficult to watch, these poor girls died from horrible deaths. The home movies at the end are so haunting. I personally think Donnie did it himself, but man it's a complicated case to judge.

The Donnie Hansen case was the most memorable unsolved mysteries case, the evidence shows Donnie was as guilty as sin! I believe the only reason the jury aquited Donnie was they didn't want to make more heart ache for the grieving parents
This case happened in November 1986 I wonder what ever became of them? Are Betty and Hans still alive? Is Donnie himself still alive? Did they ever patch things up with Donnie?
A year late, but I like how the prosecutor absolutely destroyed the defense with basic facts/questions and common sense:
"The defendant [Donald Hansen] brought the gun that was the murder weapon to the scene. He brought the shotgun shells that killed those two girls. He hid the murder weapon. He lied about all those things."
"You'd think that if some unnamed, unknown masked intruders are in your house killing people and burning the place down and you're standing right next to them that they'd shoot you, too, wouldn't you? Uhm... they didnt."
"If you're going to commit a murder, don't you bring the instruments to do that job? Don't you bring the gun? If you're going to burn down the house, don't you bring the gas? How convenient for them that both of these items just happened to be provided by Donald Hansen. Just makes no sense."
Donnie was guilty as sin. They should've locked that scumbag up and thrown away the key.
We would never know the real reason for the jury's decision. However, it seems that the jury with this case made a bad call. Donnie has knowledge of the crime or even done it himself. The defense made a clever argument that won over the jurors.
In court both sides have a chance to argue their position. It could hurt a case if the police miss something or never add something or some other questionable thing. It is wise for the state attorney to ensure the police made every possible effort to review all and any information. This will help many cases get its intended response.
This case is long but it is wrong most people commit crimes and are clever enough or because of an issue with the law are free. The possibility of committing another crime increases greatly.

In the second case, if the twin girls were both shot with a shot gun, no mater who did it, how the hell did the parents not even hear the gun blasts? It makes sense since a lot of people do such things for money.
I think the first shot was not heard by the parents because the killers muffled the sound. The girl was asleep and died in her sleep.
The second girl got up and was walking and BOOM, this time, there was no time to muffle the sound and the parents woke up.
I've followed the grundhofer story for many years. Articles from back in the day claim it was a disgruntled laid off employee that did it. It's still unsolved.
Well, actually Donny borrowed the gun, bought the bullets and the gasoline. Days before the murder. Decided to stay the night of said murder. He then hid the gun, except how would he have known it was involved in the fire, then had his ‘get outta here’ albi, apparently saved his sister (although there were no bloody clothes) then had the sister say it was him, returned to the shed to steal and probably hide the gun again (I wish that officer would have let him in there to see what he was really up to, like any other time they don’t stop crime before it happens i.e shootings, so why not let this unthreatening one go a little further). He lied consistently and just seemed seedy all round. Did he drive a Monte Carlo? Cuz if so, case closed! They had to have had a terrible lawyer not to have convicted him. I’ve seen circumstantial evidence convict more people. But I do agree that it is fishy no one heard the four rounds fired but smelt the smoke. So maybe they’re deaf as doors and smell like bloodhounds? I saw an update about the Hansen family on an unsolved mysteries forum a couple years ago. Apparently they sold their logging business and have retired and moved away. Betty had cancer at one point and is now cancer free. And they now have two grandkids from their daughter who wasn’t around the night of the murders.
Donny apparently 100% went off the grid, changed his name and everything. There was rumors that he was living in Northern California with three daughters of his own. Donny’s dad saying “He’s dead to me”, that’s heavy. Even though it all points to Donny, it’s gotta be a mindfuck for the parents, also that jury is the worst🤮🤮
it's so fucked up how family members can just hate each other. my family doesn't talk me either.. when I have my own family I'm always gonna teach my kids FAMILY OVER EVERYTHING
Donnie definitely did it. Two guys don't randomly shoot two young girls and then burn down a home.
One of the girls heard Donnie burning down the house. He shot her. Waking the parents. They just didn't know it was a shotgun sound that woke them.
That’s true - in fact I don’t think you can smell smoke while you’re sleeping which is why night fires are so dangerous. The mother heard the blast but woke up not realizing what she’d heard.
That’s happened to me a couple of times and it’s kind of terrifying- you know some loud noise woke you up but no idea what that noise was or what it even sounded like.
I’m late to this, but it makes no sense if it was two random men. Think about it, if you’re gonna commit a crime this big, wouldn’t you want to spend as little time as possible? You’re walking around the house pouring gasoline which I can assume is somewhat noisy (not to mention the strong smell.) then you’re walking right outside the house to burn it down. You’re just risking being caught with unnecessary extra steps
Theres always more to these stories. The prosecution had to of screwed up big time. They had some DAMNING evidence of Donny's guilt. Everything used in the murder and arson belonged to him, even if "circumstantial" it's pretty conclusive. The neighbors seeing two people means shit, doesnt stop Donny's guilt. Screwed up big time
@@DMalltheway Circumstantial evidence is often more reliable than direct evidence. DNA and fingerprints are good examples of circumstantial evidence. The majority of evidence in nearly every homicide is circumstantial evidence as, while not unheard of, it's unusual if not rare, for a murder to be committed infront of witnesses (i.e. direct evidence). Circumstantial evidence is derided by some people when actually, it is often the best form of evidence.
@@DMalltheway So in other words, you support nearly everyone getting acquitted in rape and murder cases. Got it.
The fact that the Kidnapper was never caught is a testament to how unpopular Grundhoffer must have been in Minneapolis. Firing thousands of people you aren't going to get a lot of police cooperation. Especially when the guy didn't harm him physically in the least.
Why would he move the shotgun if he never heard a gunshot? he thought the police would say he started the fire with a shotgun? makes no sense
Whoever made the music for the opening credits, knows how to make creepy music.
He didn't know why he moved the shotgun wow guilty as f...
The first case was so comical. Glad no one got hurt.
The love story was absolutely emotional.
That donnie guy must be pure evil or possessed. The voice says it all, i never heard anything like it..
I truly believe Donnie did it. He got away with murder!! Sad thing about it is that he can never be tried in a court of law again. Truly has gotten away with it and nothing can be done about it.
It's pronounced Honz not Hands
According to the Unsolved Mysteries Wiki, a new theory has recently emerged regarding the John Grundhofer kidnapping: that he staged it himself to win public sympathy. At the time, he had gained the name of "Jack the Ripper" for his ruthless business practices, and he claims to take great offense to the name and to his image. Meanwhile, the more I read about his background, the more unsympathetic he seems: he started in banking as a repo man, and switched to management when customers fired guns at him: he's accused of cheating at golf and "pushing hunting partners out of the way to get a better shot." He sounds like a sociopath.
It may be that the faltering strategy and incoherent behavior of his kidnapper was attributable to Grudnhofer making it all up himself.
Lot of reaching there with no real evidence.
Jussie Smollet got public sympathy because the "crime" was more serious to most Americans and some would of course give him real sympathy assuming it was true which it wasnt.
Some guy trying to ransom you for money when you do not even get hurt and get away a few hours later? is not the way to earn that.
The theory is weak as I would not feel much sympathy to even a family member I care about if they went through that.It was not even that bad.
@@DanRaidersWarriorsSharksGiants not much reaching when it seems plausible, there probably was never no interest in ransom but public sympathy
@@leelohaskin7941 What kind of moron would give him sympathy for that?
It is ridiculous. This argument is absurd.
Anyone who gives sympathy based on this story should find a REAL victim of a crime.
I could go through that and laugh about it the same night.
If I wanted sympathy and used the story he told it would be as stupid as the kidnapper wanting a $1000 bill.
As for it being plausible tons of things are that doesnt mean anything either.
@@DanRaidersWarriorsSharksGiants the type that would say, "well he is an asshole but he didn't deserve to be treated like this " he is only doing what's best for the company"
Youre all over this board like we don't know any real/actual victims of crimes 😒
@@leelohaskin7941 There is no proof to support your theory and it is a weak theory at best.I wouldn’t feel much sympathy to anyone based on his story.
So you making that some driving point is just weak without proof like the OP just slandering him with no proof.
I could believe he was an asshole easier than this stupid sympathy theory.
If I'm ever held at gun point, I will say "I'm sorry, you're mistaken, I have no business with you." Lmao
Those girls were raped and shot to cover up the crime. It happens all the time and its so indicative of something a young person would do. So he hid the gun before he knew his sisters had even been shot cause he didn't want the police to assume he did it?
Father did it. He was projecting on to Donnie that he did it for the insurance money. If Donnie shot his sisters, why wouldn't he shoot the parents as well? Father probably asked Donnie to get all that stuff so he could frame him . Donnie knew he would be blamed for it. My guess is that the parents are secret society members and they sacrifice their children to gain favor with the evil one.
Who knew parents against drugs were so violent. BTW why not handcuff the guy around a tree.
An innocent man, doesn't hide his face or voice during an exclusive interview
He does if his father framed him and father belongs to secret society that is harassing Donnie. Donnie may have bought everything for his father. Doesn't want to tell the truth because secret societies tend to kill anyone who speaks truth.
Steve Bartman hide his face and voice from everyone, yet it wasn’t his fault the Cubs lost a stupid game.
I went to school with Jill and Julie. Watching this video brought back a lot of memories of them. They were two of the nicest people you would ever meet. I hate that Donny got away with what he did. RIP Jill and Julie
Was the general consensus that Donny did it?
is donny dead
I'm sorry for the loss of ur friends Julie and Jill. I can't believe donny got away with it either I know I didn't know any of them but in my opinion donny did it and he should be in prison. I can't believe a brother would kill his sisters . The question is why did he or why would he kill his sisters. I hope that doesn't sound disrespectful sense u knew Jill and Julie. Jill and Julie sound like they were very nice girls.
Donny didn't do it he knows who did never told probably was a drug dealer I heard
Did you know Donny personally?
