Thank you for sharing this clip. That sound is just awesome, not to mention wonderful too. It always put a smile on my face whenever I heard those motors cranking up. That seating under the Pan was the place to sit every time. Much missed now.
The hungarian BVmot/Bvhmot series have almost the same sound czcams.com/video/N55fRcQWCaU/video.html&ab_channel=tgabor1122 They have a modified version of a GEC engine producing 1755kw of power(4 engines) idk which exact GEC motor is it but Ganz and GEC did some trading back in the day so they got licenses for an exact GEC engine but idk which one. They used it in their trains in wellington simply called Ganz-Mavag trains. And the GEC licensed engine(heavily reworked) by this time made a return in the BDVmot BVhmot and BVmot series. There isnt much footage of them although i tried to link a video that gives back the sound.
why is there a pillar, like they dont seem to need it, the class 317s, 318s, 320, 321, 322 which were all very similar, didnt have it, this train is similar, so why have a pillar

Went on a 769 under AC & they still sound identical to this
Because it's the same train. 769's are converted from 319's, in case you didn't know.
I love that motor sound. Especially on overhead AC power it sounds amazing
The first and only time I went on a 319, the motors were very very quiet

Probably a power bus (copper rod with air insulation) like in old Russian trains.

the gears that connect the traction motor and the wheels are very poor in quality giving it that amazing sound for a classic train
