      Sounds like you have a solid fuel system. Set the timing at 8 degrees initial advance and you should be very safe. I like to use liquid teflon thread sealant on the connections that require a thread sealant.

      The biggest problem with nitrous... people getting greedy. Running a 100 hp shot on a 300 cu. in. or larger engine is not really a big deal. It's very safe when done correctly. What kind of car do you have? Most of the corvettes from the 1990s and later have higher compression ratios, which makes using nitrous a little riskier.

    • @fwh79FOXR6

      Car has a 3.73 gear and a Nitrous Works wet kit. Make sure you upgrade your fuel pump to a 190 or 255 Lph with a new fuel filter and I would also recommend getting a nice harmonic damper like a TCI Rattler or Trick Flow... or at the very least, a new stock damper.

    • @fwh79FOXR6
      @fwh79FOXR6  Před rokem

      @@89Whitehorse I got ya... if you are running a mostly stock engine, go with a 190 Lph pump with a new fuel filter. This is actually my dad's car and yes the kit is still on the car. 100 shot is very safe if you have the fuel system and timing dialed in correctly. It is always a good idea to work your way up to the 100 shot though. It's better to find an issue spraying a 25 shot than it is spraying a 100 shot. It would be a good idea to do a compression check or cylinder leak down test just to verify that the engine is in good health. However, if the car is running well and not smoking at all... it is probably safe to say you have a healthy engine.

    That’s very impressive I have a couple questions is it a dry kit? U running an aod? Stall? Or if it’s 5spd which gear you running? I herd you have to run a separate fuel pump for nitrous I’m learning the ends and outs now.. I ran a beat of 14.25 at 98.9 with my stock fox with factory cam intake heads and gears. Full exhaust and cold air. Race crank pulley and a heavy right foot but our 60’ and 1/8 were identical basically any input would be much appreciated thanks bro

    • @fwh79FOXR6
      @fwh79FOXR6  Před 5 lety +5

      Sean Ray: Thank you. It's a 100hp wet kit. Keep in mind, a wet nitrous kit will tend to make more torque than a dry kit of the same power level. AOD with a mild stall converter and trans cooler. Has a 3.73 gear. The nitrous shot and engine mods are not enough to require a separate fuel system for the nitrous. The car has a 190 LPH in-tank fuel pump, adjustable fuel pressure regulator, and 30# injectors (which are probably way over-kill for this car, could run 24 or even 19's). I'm sure your car would do well with a nitrous kit. Be sure to install a 190 LPH pump and a new fuel filter. MSD box is mandatory as well. Don't skip this, I know the box is expensive but it is worth some serious power when using a power adder like nitrous. Set the base timing to 8 degrees initial advance. Shouldn't be any problems with pre-ignition. You can run stock injectors with a wet kit. An adjustable fuel pressure regulator is a good idea, but not "needed". The stock cam is a good choice because most aftermarket cams have a tighter lobe separation angle that can increase the chances of a nitrous backfire. So just stick with the stock cam. This car also has Southside Lift Bars. They really do a good job of planting the rear tires. If your car doesn't have subframe connectors, be sure to get some. Don't waste your time with bolt ins... get the weld in type. A 100 shot of nitrous will completely change your car. It will be very difficult to wipe the smile off of your face.

      Rhino Dan: Yes, usually. Usually NHRA requires a roll cage for cars that run 11.99 or quicker. It depends on the track though. Some tracks are kind of laid back with the NHRA safety rules. I think some of the newer cars that run 11's from the factory are not required to have one. The track we go to wants you to have a fire jacket if you are running any power adder that did not come on the car from the factory. Seems like a good idea though.
