- TTMIK’s very own 교정 요정 (Fixit Fairy) Kyung-hwa sat down with long-time actor, Kahlid, to help him improve his Korean pronunciation. We hope that this video will help you with some of the more difficult pronunciation points, too! We also hope everyone will wish Kahlid good luck in his acting endeavors, and if you would like to check out some of his work, visit his channel here: / channel

I cracked up when he said "I studied Korean for a month!" Five years later & I still suck *haha
He reads really fast
Nine in the Afternoon same here!! I still cannot read that quickly
Mb he studied jury reading and not how grammar works and vocabulary
Black people are very good with languages its like a gift.
He reads Korean so fast! I know Hangul very well but i can’t read nearly as fast as that
I think he practiced a lil maybe
@@heyheyheyyo 😂😅
yeah me too 😂
then you don't know it very well after all
I can read it *very ssssssssssslllllllllllllllloooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwllllllllllllllllllllllllyyyyyyyyyyyyy*
I have a lot of respect for Kahlid for having the confidence to make this video. By being willing to make mistakes and learn in public, he's helped make a really wonderful tool for the rest of us. I feel like I have a better understanding of the basic, aspirated, and tensed consonants from hearing the way Kyung-hwa corrected him. Also, the compare/constrast sections with Korean, Spanish, and English were super helpful. Thanks for all the great videos, TTMIK :)
I remember Khalid when I taught English in Korea 12 years ago. He started with the group of English teachers in Seoul in 2009. Happy to see he's made a life there.
Wow.@@jjandorliadul
It is nice to see a black minority learning Korean on your channel ttmik. Side note: I am a young black guy in Korea. I want to be an actor as well.
clemente3472 actor in Korea?
Awesome. Good luck!!
clemente3472 good luck ^^
Good luck!!
😂 good luck
OH COOL I'm starting to understand the double constanants better. Awesome video! I really love the Korean language for being so soft even with consonants. Very different from the dialect of Filipino I know where it's very harsh with hard K's and NG sounds.
annyeong fellow pinoy who's learning korean * wave *
I agree! This was perfect as I was asking my sister about double consonants over dinner tonight... I thought that when they said tensed consonants, they meant hard Gs, Ds, and Bs...now I understand the double Ks, double Ts, and double Ps, and why 오빠 and 아빠 are pronounced like that.
same, i was wondering how I was suppose to pronounce some of the double consonants and other consonants as well
Loona everywhere :)
Filipino as well! 😄
I really appreciate the linguistic lingo and diagrams you used in this video. It was really helpful to know the proper tongue positions and the terms like plosive and nasal for the different sounds. 감사합니다!
Comparing those to Chinese pronunciation was so helpful because although Chinese isn't my first language, it's one I was able to pick up easily with the sounds.
Same here. I studied some chinese so i know the words she was refering to. Totally helped the pronunciation click
Agreed!
This is the part of learning Korean that I find the most difficult. I'm sure that the pronunciation differences are glaringly obvious to native Korean speakers, but a lot of them sound very subtle and indistinct to my ears. This will take a lot of work. :) Thanks for the help, as always, TTMIK.
Kyung-Hwa's English has become significantly more fluent
She's incredible
I wish I could read as fast as he does. I'm reading Korean very slowly hahah.
This video was soo helpful! :D Thank you so much! Could you maybe make like a series like that, about pronunciation in sentences, maybe with Korean learners from different nationalities (to see the different mistakes that might be made depending on the mother tongue)? That is really great! Thanks again!
MusikPerspektive Right? I really like this format and hope that there will be more in the future :))
This is a really great idea!! There's a book called Pronunciation In Use which I use with my English-learning students, and they have a section at the back outlining which sounds people find the most difficult, sorted by their mother tongue/nationality. It would SUPER useful to have a Korean equivalent ^0^
Great idea.
He read softer and more fluidly when she was coaching him, as opposed to reading louder and more abruptly the first time around.. He can read really fast and is very fluid in Korean!! WOWWWW!!!!! Excellent!
i dont think im supposed to be here. i have no idea what she is saying. im going to go hide in the beginners corner. 👋🏻
Practice Hangul first and then youll understand 😉
♥️♥️♥️
OMG you gave us Spanish tips!
Please keep on doing that, I am a Spanish speaker and there are not so many helpful videos about Korean language in spanish (it would be easier the pronunciation). Thx✌❤
SonyLOL Yes, I agree!
Carolina Kim is great in ConCoreaTV
i am a portuguese speaker but those also helped me a lot so i agree 🤗
i am only on lesson 7 of level 1, so this video was SO HELPFUL! the letter combinations that result in a different or silent letter are exactly the tips i need!
I've been trying for 15 month, just got to the end of Lesson 1 but I'm revising before I go on. Unfortunately I don't have anyone to chat with so it's slow progress
What a great video. I was surprised when she gave examples of Spanish sounds since I'm from Colombia. Keep learning spanish and of course doing these very helpful videos :D
it's so cool that ttmik uses other languages to teach the pronunciation! thanks so much for this video!
I've been studying Korean for about two years now, and this is the best explanation I've seen so far for double consonants. Thank you!
Thank you for using linguistic terms!! I'm a linguistics student and using terms like plosives, voiced/voiceless is so much more efficient and helpful to me than trying to explain it in a whole paragraph. So thanks, this video is awesome!
More of these pronunciation guides! Some Korean friends I have are surprised of how good my current pronunciation is but it's never a bad thing to learn more.
Kyung-hwa using English examples for double consonants was so helpful! I never even noticed that our "p" sounds are emphasised in words like "speech"! This video has made me far more aware of my own pronunciation :D Thank you!!
I love the comparisons to Chinese and Spanish in this video. I speak Chinese in addition to English and their inclusion was very helpful and meaningful. I also live in the US and am familiar with Spanish sounds. Thanks so much for this video. Very informative and thorough Korean pronunciation help
I'd love it if you could do more of these pronunciation videos, this was reaaaaally helpful.
This was really helpful thank you! I really liked how you included the voicing and the diagrams I find that very useful!
I appreciate his willingness to be vulnerable and open in his learaning journey :)
This is really helpful! It helps to see where to position your tongue!
Kahlid's pronunciation is literally me 😁😁😂❤
IM LIVING FOR THIS. Honestly this is probably one of the most helpful videos out there. Thanks!
I hope this becomes a series!! It was seriously so helpful!!
Please make more of these ! This is so helpful.
This was great!! I really appreciate that you broke down everything and explained the rules for combining sounds. Loved this
I am convinced yours is the program to teach me how to read, write and speak Korean. This video was extremely helpful.
Wow! SO helpful!! And Kahlid did a great job! I only wish he could slow down a bit since I can't read as fast as he can^^
OMGG This is my favourite video by far! I have issues with Korean pronunciation rules and so these kind of videos are so helpful!
I'm not an actor, but this was just great to watch. Great video! 대박!
I think this is my favorite format of your videos! Amazing! 🇰🇷🇰🇷🇰🇷
One of the best videos on the difference with double consonants!! I think maybe because they showed somebody who's learning Korean as well. Please keep doing videos like this to help us improve, too. 😊
This is a very useful video! Thanks TTMIK team!
this channel is seriously so helpful!!! thank you
This was literally the sweetest video
This is soooo helpful! please turn this into a series! :)
You guys always come up with such great concepts... That's amazing!
This was so helpful!!! Since I took a linguistics course last spring, you guys adding in the phonetics and tongue positions is really helpful!!!!! Please do more like this!!!
Please, more of this pronunciation coaching. Really helpful
this was soooo helpful!! Luv u guyzz! 감사합니다!
This is so much more helpful then like any other source I've seen. Thank you so much for making this video! ^^
This video helped more than I can explain. I'm still practicing hangul after a month because I don't want to get stuck pronouncing things wrong. This helped a lot
WOW. Please keep more videos like this coming. This was very high-level phonetics at work. Great job, TTMIK!
WOW! This is SUPER helpful! Make this into a series please!
this was fantastic! thank you. I hope this "series" continues.
This video is so important! I wonder why it wasn't made before. Sometimes it still sounds the same to me, but I'll watch over and over until I get better.
WoW!!!!!!! It is 2022 and this video is gold!!!! Thank you so much Team TTMIK!
This was so helpful! Would definitely love to see more of these.
This is an extremely helpful video!
Thanks for adding the Spanish reference that really helped!! I’m learning Korean in English but I know Spanish so it really helped thanks
Wow, this was such a good video. Really makes you pay attention to how you specifically pronounce Korean sounds and whole words. Why can't I have a coach who pops up every time I'm struggling with my pronunciation haha
Punto! Paso! Algo de español ❤🇦🇷
This is so helpful. Such great content! Thank you so much!
Love this vid! I think pronunciation is the most difficult part of learning Korean, I love the detailed breakdowns of our common pitfalls :) Thanks!
Wow. This was SUCH an important video! I learned much needed info today!
Very much appreciated this. So helpful. And loved that you included some Spanish in there because I’m bilingual and am trying to teach myself Korean at the moment. Thank you so much!
WOWWWWWWW!!! this was a great video! I really love learning the Korean language. The pronunciation coaching will definitely be helpful as I continue learning! Thanks so much! Please do more of these!!!
also this was REALLY helpful! please make more videos like this!
발음 표기한 것도 완벽하고
정말 잘 가르치시네요! 👍
This was so helpful! I took the time to take write down what the teacher was saying when showing how to pronounce. I’m quite sure this will help a great deal as I am not a confident reader or speaker yet.
I am saving this video for reference resource as I continue my Korean language learning journey.
Amazing video, keep making more of this style!
This video was soo helpful! Specially loved the comparisons to Spanish and other languages
This was so well done - thank you!
Thank you for this lesson. It was really helpful and I hope to see him acting in korean more often =D
Thank you much!! Comparing ㅃ to the Spanish ‘P’ helped me a lot. I love this. Thank you for your hard work.
He's an handsome fellow :D
Really nice and useful video!!!! Please do more of this kind often!!
Such a funny, friendly and helpful video ^.^ Thank you, guys!
This was soo helpful!! Thank you a lot, I learned so much from this! I often would make the same mistakes and the further explanations also made it much more clear! Kahlid thank you so very much! We could learn a lot from you and I envy you how good you are already after learning Korean for only one month :))
I LOVED how you also explained the pronunciation in Spanish!! Hi from Colombia
I really loved this video so much! I hope we get more videos like this 😊
I wish I could like the video multiple times or some sort of "big like" because this was awesome. Loved both the teacher and Mr.Khalid, also this was really helpful.
We'd also like to give you "big thanks" for this comment!
I love the detailed explanations. The ones like how much air should come put of your mouth or whether your vocal cords are involved. The comparisons are helpful too but I feel can be a little confusing to some
Great video, thank you!
Great video!!
Definitely need more of those
This was awesome. I would love more of these
This kind of video is very very very helpful ❤ thank you guys so much ❤
I really do like your videos. It is very informative. It's neither lengthy nor short. I love learning Korean because of your videos so Thank You. 😍😍😍

I hope you guys post more of this videos because they are super helpfull.....THANK YOU!!!
I would be lost without you guys. Thank you
that was so helpful thank you very much :) especially the part with the double consonants
This video is sooo helpful!! Hopefully one day I’ll be able to read as fluently and consistently as he does and speak is also. I’m in my 3rd week of learning Korean and my pronunciation needs some tweaking but I will keep referring back to this video for tips to help me out. I have a heavy southern drawl so I really need to work on enunciation too.
great video! 경화 씨 always has the best video ideas!!!
This video is spectacular!! Make more please 🙏
Loving this!
This video was so helpful! 감사합니다!
I'm an aspiring voice actor, so this helps a lot. 😊
This is so helpful!!! 감사합니다! 😊😊
Thank you so much for posting this! This gives me a little assurance as I practice pronunciation!
This was so helpful! I’ve been self-studying and don’t have a Korean friend to correct my pronunciation. I didn’t even realize how many things I’ve been pronouncing wrong. Especially those double consonants!
