My falcon is 2007 but not an ex-taxi, bought it with 150k km on it in 2015. Runs well with factory lpg, love it.

I worked for Yellow Cabs in Sydney as an apprentice mechanic in the late 70's. HQ's, HJ's, HX's, HZ's, XB's,XC's XD's. Good days back then. Yellow Cabs now 13 Cabs.

Hell yes! Another awesome series for us to watch! Can't wait to see the next one. I had a BA XR6 Turbo and it only made 245hp atw. I was quite impressed with the old fg taxi.

It has been so damn long id been researching into Lpg-Barra motors. My first vehicle was a E-Gas Barra, in which i wanted to ramp up and mod like an Xr6 Yurbo. Everyone told me its not possible, and it was a waste of time. But after years of research, I knew it could be done. I was to save and invest in trialing it out. But finally you guys have showed everyone it's possible. Good on ya! Been watching this series since it started this year, can't get enough. Finally finished exams and watched the last episode. Finish the project, big fan and heaps of respect for the build! Regards, Jazz!
Barra na motor with valve springs and head studs can run 30psi threw it with the right tune for about a year before it blows lol
Taxi's aren't always bad cars, always serviced and running

There's already a silver service taxi up here in qld that is quite fast and runs in happy lap sessions. I didn't believe it until I saw it and it still has all the decals and lights, it may even be in service still I dunno

That knock could just be a dead timing chain tensioner, I bet it's not a rod if you tear it down and have a look. I'd just keep the present motor, change the pistons out for 8.5:1 s (or whatevewr the turbo barra uses, I know ACL makes them) do a quick crank linish and bearing swap and replace whatever else needs doing. (and maybe while you're at it get some headwork and a cam swap done ;) I see XR6 Turbo barras complete engines on fleabay all the time for 1500 - 2000 ... but you never know how theyve been treated, could have been flatfooted everywhere, or driven by some company manager and never seen more than 4500 rpm. At least if you pull the engine apart you will know / can correct the things there that might cause problems down the road.
Oh and ps theres some beautiful steampipe manifolds on ebay, more efficient than the factory items, but they are not cheap $$

you guys are so suprised at it being original at 577ooo man i operate cabs in qld and we sold one of our old au's back in like 2009 it has 1.4 MILLION! on the original unopened engine NO ROD KNOCK. it had however done 5 or so gearboxes and just as many diffs. the thing about cabs is they do alot of km but they are almost never turned off so they are almost always at operating temp and if the operator keeps the maintenance shedule up to date they will as the seller said run forever.

It made alot better video as well going down there and checking out all the cabs. Will you another gas motor in it or go with a turbo bottom end? The gas has forged rods so I'd actually be interested to see how well it holds up to boost
