    The only downside I could see would be having to hold it while filming fisheye. Might be smart to rig some kind of a handle for it to hang onto on the bottom of the camera or tape it somehow.

    On a side note... If your fav DV cam's tape deck has failed.. and has DV out.. grab a small DV camera if you can get it cheap, that has DV in feature and use that to record the DV out of favourite cam. It's a bit awkward but works.. Check specs online before bidding.. With the little Sonys you may need to make sure the touch screen is working in order to activate record DV in..

      Hi, I have had that error when I was switching between an english PAL vx and a USA NTSC vx with the DN60.
      It is simply a miss match of signals.
      This worked for me...
      On the DN-60 home menu you need to navigate to SYSTEM SETUP, then SET SIGNAL TYPE, and you will get the option for 50hz (PAL) or 60hz (NTSC).
      If you are in UK/europe or australia it will be 50hz (PAL), or if you are in USA and some other places you will want to select 60hz (NTSC).
      The DN60 will say you have to format the card but I guess they're still blank if you haven't got anything to work yet.
      Hope that does the trick for you!

    • @DEATHRIDERSKATEVIDS
      @DEATHRIDERSKATEVIDS  Před 4 lety

      Hi! Oh that doesn't sound good... I use premiere and have no experience with FCP unfortunately.
      The fact its previewing the video and the sound is a good sign, but if it's not actually making the file then I have no idea.
      Perhaps try some different capture software or see if theres anything in the capture settings that can changed.
      The audio glitch noise reminds me of when I put the card straight into my computer (instead of capturing) and all the sound was mad. Which leads me to think that it is something to do with the audio settings...
      If you can try some other capture software somehow I think that would be the first thing to try.

      @@AngelBarreroP I'm not sure what you mean about processing audio, as I gave up using my tape based Sony VX2100 many years ago, at the time I used Adobe premier to capture DV footage via firewire, including the encoded audio on the tape (I did research my upgrade options at the time, when my old firewire laptop died, and found the FireWire technology had become obsolete on all newer laptop models ) Nowadays I use a Sony mirrorless camera, and capture 4k video, and use external recorders for my additional audio. I tried the firewire to USB lead, but after several failed attempts to capture directly via USB, I further researched the issues, and found out about the incompatibility issues of trying a straight forward cable.

  • @AHappyMediumSkateboarding

    Hey there! I am having trouble capturing from the DN-60. I have tried both FCP and Premiere Pro. No video or audio signal comes up. Any idea? Anything I have to change on the DN-60 to get a signal? Thanks!

    • @DEATHRIDERSKATEVIDS
      @DEATHRIDERSKATEVIDS  Před 4 lety +1

      Yo! Apologies for late reply, I always forget to check messages.
      I just set mine up to investigate and had the same problem.
      I got it to work by doing this...
      -Have DN-60 on and plugged into computer, premiere open, but DO NOT open the capture window yet.
      -Put DN-60 into playback mode (the little wheel thing on the front)
      -Press play on DN-60 so it is sending a signal, and THEN open the capture window (make sure your capture settings are on DV not HDV).
      The capture window opens with the footage playing and it should be all good! Or at least that is what worked for me.
      Device control from computer all works fine after this and is just like any other normal capturing.
      I hope that does the trick!
      Please let me know how it goes because if it isn't this, I could mess about some more and perhaps find something else that it might be.
      But yeah, basically, press play on dn60 before opening capture window. Good luck!!

I will get "NO INPUT" often. The only way it works at all is if I connect in the exact order you did in this video but still no luck with capturing to premiere or fcp. I have tried multiple laptops and cameras too. Not sure what the deal is. I have read you need to use older memory cards but I am not having issues with the footage after it is recorded. I open the files and the audio is messed up but footage looks great/normal... Thanks again.

    • @DEATHRIDERSKATEVIDS
      @DEATHRIDERSKATEVIDS  Před 4 lety

      That is a shame that didn't work!
      Directly after you have filmed something, with it all hooked up to the camera still, can you play it back in the viewfinder? (You know, like with the VX and DN60 both on playback mode) Sound all good too?
      Mine does this fine
      (I got DN60A / NTSC VX1000)
      Because if this if all fine then that means the DN60 is recording fine, and more importantly playing back fine.
      The problems somehow then gotta be in the settings or something.

      I looked it up, and on page 13 of the manual it even says ..
      "NOTE: the CF card does not support UMDA 7 and we recommend a UMDA 6 compliant CF card that is 32 GB or less."
      Other than that I would say maybe try different recording settings on the DN 60. I know you can choose between a few different formats i.e .avi or .mov etc..
      You have to format the card to change any settings like that I think though so watch out for that.

    yo would this work on vx2000?

    • @jpsholland
      @jpsholland Před 5 lety

      It pick up every DV and HDV signal which is streamed through FireWire from any camera. (at the time we tried one on a Ikegami HL-DV7w) The VX-2000 is the successor of the VX-1000 zo i give it a 99.99% chance of yes it will work.

      sebastien poulin try taking the card out and plugging it in, then changing it to the right format then inserting the card and formatting. It took me a while to figure that out, but the footage has the snow still. Pretty bumbed.
