Have fun my friend! My brother won't play with me at all lol, it would be so cool to have someone who takes the game seriously to play casually IRL on the regular
Man I miss kings counter hit back one. That was a cornerstone of my whole playstyle, but king has a move called “instant shining wizard” so I have to play him.
I would add that b3 is his best armour move, easy "just frame" follow up for massive damage. Minus 10 on block, it is a high though. Great for whiff punish and interrupting some strings
How do people like to use heat? I feel like it's not worth in combos unless if it does enough damage to win you the round. I feel like just saving it to win momentum back when undet pressure. Or after getting launched it's nice pressure tool to recover lots of lost health back.
Varies from character imo. Some character have better moves unlocked in heat so you want to sustain it rather than use it like kings jaguar sprint in heat has armor giving him lot of options that he normally wouldn't have. For others you might want to have access to heat smash like Claudio who generally has weak low but his heat smash ends up giving him a really good one, for others you might just want to use it as pressure escape tools bcz your character has slow pokes or punish like Lili
bro im maining king and i haven't watched any guides until now. My first impression when i got into training mode is that they made king MUCH easier. His bound from aerial is just back+3 or just a simple grab (2+4) lol. Before you had to chain f-2-2 or some other bull. Everybody gonna spam shining wizard now i believe. Back in tekken 6 days it was impossible to do
I wanted to say some clarification for the future Viktor guide here. Basically… b2 is a good interrupting tool for flying characters at close range and a universal standing parry at mid range. It should not be used like Asuka’s or Jin’s parry but more if you’re in mid range and see a punishable high. Then once parried you can pretty much have a free 2 combo into Iai Stance or definitely hit Heat Engager. Iai stance into 4,2 is not a mixup tool. You either dedicate to a sword low or fast 1 mid (which you go back into stance with the second 1 if blocked and follow up only if hit. Use 1,2,2 to punish most power crushes since after the second hit he teleports out of power crush range and hits with the third 2). 4,2 in Iai stance is mostly for air juggling and smacking them into walls, with the second use being to bait a whiff punish since after the low 4 whiffs most instinctively go in for the kill, which is greeted by a high 2. Iai stance 1+2 is a good whiff punishing tool when you can’t use fff2. It has amazing range beyond a regular 2 but can be punished if used as a mixup. Not recommend to use when the opponent charges in since a regular 2 is faster and a mid. Either that or d1+2 which has amazing homing. His perfumer stance mixups consist of b1,2 or b1f depending on the scenerio. Habits are important to note when using this since the second attack can either be blocked, if they hold back or punished if you go into perfumer. All in all his combos are very punishable so button mashing isn’t an option at higher level. He has moved for all ranges and stance switch ups much more unpredictable than Zafina. Especially when considering his Heat Only sword strike can throw him into Iai stance. Once you hit, there is no stopping him when he chases you down and combos you to death.
getting back into tekken from a long break- what’s a blue spark? you mentioned it a few times in the video and is it just raw input? someone explain plz
It's usually a tight input (2-3 frames leniency) or a straight up just frame input (just frames are same frame inputs or 0 frames leniency inputs). If you successfully input them, you'll visibly see a blue effect. In T8 though, there are many new blue sparks even for inputs that require little to no timing. For example Reina's 2,2,2,2 string alternative input: 2,2,2, qcf2. Very easy. (qcf means quarter circle forward, in other words: down, down+forward, forward)
Counterhit is when the opponent is doing a move and either you hit them before their move can hurt you, or after, during their recovery. “-8” refers to the frame data of the move. This one means you can’t do anything for 8 frame so believe (which for tekken is very fast recovery). I may have gotten it the wrong way around though
A frame lasts 0.01666 seconds, that's 1/60 of a second. Basically, whenever you do an attack, you have a startup time (startup frames) and a recovery time depending on the attack. When you block an attack, you have a recovery time that depends on the move you blocked. When an attack is "plus on block" it means that the player who attacks with it recovers faster than the block animation of the opponent. So if my attack is +4 on block, after my move is over, I have 4 frames where my opponent is still locked in his block animation while I can do whatever I want. Minus on block is the same but the blocking opponent is at an advantage instead. When you start playing, always keep this mindset: moves are USUALLY PLUS ON HIT and MINUS ON BLOCK (with hundreds of exceptions of course). In other words, did you get smacked in the face? You are at a disadvantage: block the next move and only then take your turn, because chances are you aren't gonna be fast enough to counterattack him right away. Then here's some numbers to get your head around how long a frame is: jabs come out in 10 frames and are +1 on block. These are the fastest moves in the game (with very few exceptions). This move defines the concept of "safe" and "unsafe" on block: Basically, if your move is -9, the opponent is at an advantage but there's nothing guaranteed they can do to you. If your move is -10 though, that's unsafe, punishable, your opponent can jab you if he's good at punishing, and there's nothing you can do about it. Launchers (combo starters) are usually 15 frames. So if your opponent blocks your -15 move, he can punish you heavily by launching you for a full combo, meaning half your life could be gone just like that. Then, 21 frames is the beginning of the humanely reactable. These are slower moves, many low attacks are slow like this. Finally 28 frames is what I'd consider comfortably reactable. 28 frames lows usually launch you if you don't block them, so yeah the game is really telling you that you should block them and punish them because you definitely can.
- 10 is when Jabs start punishing You have to memorize what moves you have are fast because the difference in punishment between something that -14 compare to -12 can be huge -15 is when the vast majority of characters can launch punish
@@viniciuslessa3480 Nope, when the opponent does something that is -10am and you punish for most characters they get good advantage and a bit of damage Like the best 10 frame punisher in the game is from Lee that does like 47 damage and gives a knockdown and it's very hard to execute
