The invading assault group skillfully navigated between two forested areas, exploiting natural camouflage and terrain features.
Nonetheless, the aerial reconnaissance team spotted the enemy well before they initiated any active operations, leading to collaborative efforts in target adjustments and artillery engagement.

C-130 gunship or an A-10 Warthog, or even an Apache helo would have made short work of all the Russians. Come on U.S. give Ukraine the serious military hardware they need to end this not just fight their way to a bloody end.

They are not fighting against some third rate military power like Iraq
Ukraine needs air supremacy. Don't have. S300 in theory should make short work of A10 or Apache.
All of those would be easy targets for Russian fighters or SAMs. They all need air superiority over the battlefield to operate. If the West and especially the US had started training Ukrainian pilots on the F-16 and F-18 like they asked for or given them 500 Abrams a year ago, now that would have made a real difference.

the most basic tactic for moving when you are in artillery range is to be very spread out, 6 dudes walking together is a nice target, 1 not so much, you would think by now they learned that

The objective was to stop that enemy assault group. It has the desired effect. They will think twice about moving through that area.

Once they were in the open, one CBU could have accomplished the job if it were on target.
