    I built this same set up yrs ago to power a Cuddeback! I just ran cable through hole in ammo box an wrapped box in plastic bag and buried it just under ground behind tree! I use it in late Season in Upper Michigan gets 2’ snow an last for 3-4 weeks taking 50-75 pics over feeder!

    best bet was to finish up the hole with a round filer. thats how I creeped in the past when making holes. i always prefer a little friction when placing the plugs through.

    Have you ever tried the battery box with a Tactacam rechargeable battery pack?

    • @herd360
      @herd360  Před měsícem +1

      @markmcg777 sure. The battery cartridge is back up to the 12v external

    Hey buddy ! Do you have a design for hooking up a solar panel for your economy solar battery box ?looking forward to hearing back ! PS. I just received my 7 elite wiring harness !

      @herd360  Před 2 měsíci

      Hey, the only solar options I have are the stuff for Spartan cameras exclusively or the SPP1025 which is a box and solar all in one. The battery boxes are for those who have situations not ideal for solar.

    I have one of your solar panels on a camera that has heavy leaf cover. Can you run both the panel and external battery at the same time? Whichever one is needed it uses?

    • @herd360
      @herd360  Před 6 měsíci +1

      No sir, the solar power pack can not be used in conjunction with an external 12v battery. It is a solar panel charging its own battery pack, which then powers the camera.

    What do you use to charge the battery?

    • @herd360
      @herd360  Před 8 dny +1

      @steveparks5030 depends on the battery type. These days I only use Lifepo4 batteries with a bms so I use a Lifepo4 charger. When using lead acid I have a few smart chargers I use.

    Some other videos show running the AA batteries in addition to the external system as a backup. Your thoughts?

    • @herd360
      @herd360  Před 10 měsíci

      No issues with that in most cams. The AAs would become the backup source. I would recommend lithium over alkaline for holding their charge longer and not leaking acid like alkaline can.

    Are you going to have something if you're running multiple batteries in parallel?

    • @herd360
      @herd360  Před rokem

      I will not be offering a parallel harness however you can easily construct your own.

      Would depend on the battery size. 1000s

    Great summary! I was able to build a similar kit watching a harrier nest. My 12V battery was only 50% after 5 weeks and the camera was set to 5 minute video clips. The only variable for me was the SD card size limit which is 128MB for my Zopu camera. Unreal performance!
    A Question though: the size of the connector - you said your kit is a 4.0 x 1.7 - I think the Stealthcam cable I bought was similar, but I needed a different sized connector which I just happened to have in a battery booster pack for a vehicle. Does anyone know what those are called? I was looking on Amazon as I need to set 2 or 3 more cameras up.
    Also I love the screw in connector. Do you ship to Canada? I might buy some cables for you if I can find more connectors.
    I'll also be placing insulation foam inside because it's going to get cold real soon. I plan on using mine for game tracking for hunting and also for a GoPro solution to monitor animals like fox and fishers.

      Thanks for watching. Stealthcam uses a 5.5x2.1mm dc plug. I have those cables as well.

    Could u tell me if the Moultrie edge cameras will work with this????

    • @herd360
      @herd360  Před rokem

      Not with the elite kit. I don't yet have the correct size plug with the elite kit. I do have plenty of other options. Moultrie uses 5.5x2.1mm size dc plugs. Check out what I have here.www.herd360.com/collections/diy-external-power-products

    • @herd360
      @herd360  Před rokem

      Not this particular one. It's a 4.0x1.7mm plug. You need 5.5x2.1mm

      I don't have one for their plug size. I do have a box with chewproof cable that does. www.herd360.com/products/power-pack-1800-external-battery-box-universal-for-all-types-of-trail-cameras?
