Good demonstration. That old machine has probably paid for itself many times over, not to mention, saving you the hassle of taking your stuff to someone else.👍
Yes Tony I love do everything my self my rim clamp and my 40-40 do all my tires on my cars and I was lucky enough to get a snap on wheel balancer for $350 I even align my own cars and have gotten really good at it with just bubble gauges and toe plates.. Thanks for stopping by.
Great tip about putting the bead away from you and checking the aluminum rims for cracks. I have never seen a manual changer before. I will help my friend at his gas station sometimes do changes though I mostly will take the wheel on and off the changer because of his bad back. He has let me do some of the changing but he is a lot faster. We did a low profile for his friend once and he was cursing and swearing a lot more than usual. He set the tires on fire to set the beads.
This flies in the face of all those who said this tire changer is ""crap"...those who bent the bead breaker , who bent or broke the changer bar (all after one tire change attempt), who stated this thing is unusable without modifications like welding the foot plates, etc.. It's all in knowing how...
We had a old tire changer here in the basement for years, my old man got it from my Uncle, his little brother, up in Ohio, and I used that damn thing up there and he had it mounted in his shed, on a wood floor but it still worked good! But I couldn’t count all the damn tires I’ve changed with it, probably hundreds and hundreds, at least! That changer that we had came out of a old tire shop, the guy ended up getting him a pneumatic tire changer and sold that old manual to my Uncle.
Boy! I wish I could find one if those old tire changers they where built like tanks! I'd paint it all pretty and use it as yard art... And change a tire on it every once and awhile for fun! Thanks for stopping by Doug always good hearing from you.
@@moparnut6286 - Haha, yeah buddy I hear ya, when my Uncle had that tire changer in his shed up in Ohio, me and my brother made a fistful of money a few times changing tires about all day for folks around the ghetto ( that what everybody called Oneida subdivision in Middletown Ohio)! No problem John, you’re welcome buddy!
Yeah man it's all that's left of my younger days strength.... I really miss the days of be able to pick up a bare 440 block or install a auto trans by just lifting it up and line up the dowels.. But we all get old sooner or later 😂... And in my old age I refuse to be uncomfortable...comfort is king! Hence the uniform😁 thanks for watching!
Nice job wish you could do mine. Perfect timing with the Iron Horse Garage video that just came out. Today's Harbor freight tire changer is not the same by the looks of it. Lol Great video
Things kids should be taught in school, old vs new.Same things getting done without fancy equipment.Survival stuff.Btw ,dig your drawers,I’ve got ninja turtles,a big hit at physical therapy 😅
Yeah a lot if people ask to much from Chinese steel...which is American cars recycled steel lol 😆 but if the power goes out and you need to change a tire it'll do the job.
back then there were no machine to change tires on wheels just human and hands and trans fluid for sealing to put the tire on the wheel just lift the tire in the air and drop it straight down fast as possible and it was tuff to do.
Yep in the early days it was like changing tires on a bicycle or motorcycle all by hand....cars wheel alignment was done all with bubble and string line good to know how to do things the analog way!
Hahaha, well you made it look easy!! I guess I need to use some finesse...I think I bent everything, the handle, the bar, the bead breaker, my rim.... maybe the steel was better in the 90's.....Nice work sir!!
Yeah I don't think all the Chinese steel has ever been good all the big Ltd's, new Yorkers and impalas they melted down we get back as tire changers!! Lol... But atleast you didn't get hit in the head like just mopar Joe!😂
@@moparnut6286 moved my tooth up in my head when it hit me in the mouth! 😂 I do still have mine. Mounted it to a crate. That way I can stand on the crate and then move it all out of the way when done.
I have an old COATES 310 Works fabulously like new. But, tire changing CAN be dangerous no matter what equipment you have so BE CAREFUL out there ! PS I lost three top front teeth by letting the installation bar slip from my hands. Could have been prevented if I had just been a little more careful.
Yes David you can tell I haven't changed tires on the changer in 14 yrs I'm so fat! You change 30 a day 7 days a week you will be in shape 😂 I grew up with Sesame Street still miss the old cast... And the electric company!
That's right in life all things can use lube! I used one of them manual tire changers before ha ha what a pain in the BUTT!!! But I didn't know how to use it.

Great video.
Good to see it doesn't have to be brand new and shiny to do the job.
Hey, 60's not old. It's just older than you used to be.😉
Well said!
Got to respect the "Love me Elmo" jammies. Deep appreciation for The ensemble.
Lol yes!
Cool old changer! Sure beats using a bumper jack like I did back in 1978 and into the 80's! Great video! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks but it's so much easier with my rim clamp!😁
Awesome! Great video! Where is that Iron Horse guy? 😂
Yeah he's a good guy with a big heart and muscles to match 🐎 💪👍😁
@@moparnut6286 He sure is! I see a future tire video 😂
Now I know where to go when the grid goes down. 💪 Great information. I mounted a lot of race car tires back in the 80s 🐭👍
Oh I'm ready for the end of the world!! Lol😂
You aren’t old. Wait until you get 62 like me. Good video. I bought a strong way from northern and now know how to use it.
Very informative. Haven’t seen it done manually in years!!!
Thank you Colonel much appreciate you watching.

Sweet tool brother and awesome tips for showing us to change our tires and thanks for sharing brother 👊👍😎

I wish I still had my tire changer...mine was a vintage Bishman.
Oh man a Bishman I would want one of those too those we're real tools.

8:28 the bar needs to be held at a higher angle when mounting, that'll keep it from slipping off.
When demounting, the bar is held as flat and horizontal as possible, when mounting, hold it up at a high angle.
