I always love her optimistic attitude and her bright enthusiasm whatever and no matter difficulties and challenges she faces in life. Highlight scene to me was when her husband still alive and they bumped somewhere their old classmates/ friends including the ex who dumped her , they are successful and her husband was looking down himself because he still a poor farmer and feel sorry for her because he promised to love her and have good life and everything of him but on his own view he failed of not giving her a good life. But I love how she responded him with her genuine smile " You are successful, you have me and your daughter you make us happy and that is everything to me." Ohh It really warms your heart. Lots of moral lesson in this story . I live in a comfortable life right now , i was once struggling in life , poor i would say but really contented and really really happy . Now, got almost everything but something's missing. Happiness cannot be measured by money or any materials in the world, sometimes, living in a simple life is very fulfilling!

That despicable city girl put this lovely FL down because she was "an uneducated country girl"..but as I've said in a previous comment, you don't need a formal education to have intelligence.....Shame on her ex (the cheater) for thinking so lowly of her.....the fact that he was with her for some many years, even though he was good at writing, should have made him realise that even though she didn't finish her education, her level of comprehension and intelligence is what made him like being with her....but he threw it all away for the scheming "city" girl.....and in the end he is still hanging around the FL anyway......SMH...
