- In my last video, I showed you how to use #Excel and a simple batch file to create multiple folders in File Explorer. In this video, we are going to extend that knowledge and see how to create not only folders, but also subfolders in File Explorer.
This process involves copying and pasting our folder and subfolder names into the Notepad app and saving it as a .bat (batch) file. When we run this file, the folders and subfolders will automatically be created.

Thank you! I've been making 100s of folders manually and this really helps a lot.
Great video. to make it even quicker you can separate each part of the name into multiple columns, to allow you to drag and copy, i.e. the main folder name then concatenate all the fields in a different cell. The concatenated cell is the one you select and copy into notepad. Hate retyping when I can copy.
Very cool. It popped a few odd characters into folder names, but those were easily dealt with.

Thank you for the new tip, but I’m trying to go further, cause you need to have your bat inside the folder where you want to create those folders. So I’m wondering, is there a way to create a variable that asks user the path to create the folthers? I hope you can find the answer 😉😘😘 Have a nice day

can you suggest a slightly unique way to batch a series of different folders, all with the same subfolders e.g. 1. Incoming Letters 2. Outgoing Letters 3. Notices of Delays 4. Notices of Variation 5. Notices of Prolongation etc, Better still if they are in two or more columns, to allow for different levels, with the same subfolder structure in the second level and onwards.

You are an amazing person; can you show us how to create a main folder with many supfolders and files in different formats; we want to see all these files just by touching the main folder! Can you do this? Thank you in advance
This method only creates the folders and subfolders for you. It doesn’t reorganise all of your files into those folders.
Are you looking for method other than simply opening files from folders in file explorer?

I'm confused why you would stop where you did...in most cases, a parent folder would have multiple subfolders, but you didn't explain how to add multiple subfolders or iterate the creation of subfolders across several parent folders. Could you touch on that please?
@cellmatestraining if i had a list of customers, and a list of say 5 subfolders i needed for each customer, is there a simple way to do this?

Let's say I have Last name, first name in a cell and I want to create folders for each person. How would I get around the space problem/creating a different folder for last name and first names? I tried to use a formula to add quotes to each but then it just thinks its part of the formula
Wrap the names in quote marks so, MD “Bloggs Joe” or separate with an underscore. The last video I posted on my channel shows this method.

Thank you very much for this video, it's so great and saved me for a lot of work, just one question. Now you have a viewer from Denmark, and as you properly know, we have a few more letters in our Alphabet “Æ,Ø,Å” do you know if that is possible to put into the code, so it gets correct, course at the moment these letters appears as “├ÿR”
Did you get an answer? I would like to use french letters like "é", "è", etc.. but it seems to be problematic for now. Thank you!

Yes. It worked for me when I tried with 4 levels of subfolders. Turns out, I didn’t have to list the parent folders individually either.. just make sure the lowest level subfolders have a complete file path and any parent folders included in the path will automatically be created.
