    Look mate you’d want to fully trust who your leaving on there own,I think it only ever works splitting crews if your 50/50,if you have enough work to keep a big crew going,your better keeping them together to keep eyes on them.

    Hey Mate,
    I have been following you're channel and enjoy you're videos as being a bricklayer myself, i just have a few questions for you regarding working in Melbourne as myself my missus and son are immigrating to melbourne to the glenroy area in late 2023 from ireland on permanent visas,
    Im 34 now and have being on the trowel the past 18 years and self-employed here in irenald the past 8 years doing similar work as to you are doing yourself,
    i lived and worked in Australia a few years back as a brickie on ABN from 2010 to 2013 in sydney and darwin so i have a fair idea on how things are done in Australia,
    To cut a long story short im inquiring really about rates per hour in Melbourne on ABN and sub-contracting work,
    What is the going rate per hour for a lad being on the trowel as long as myself as i will be looking to fall in with a gang at first to get myself settled in and get myself up and running?
    And as for contracting & subcontracting work do ye sub out on price work off big bricklaying company's or do ye go and work on price doing houses direct for building company's? Sorry for the long boring text lol but just looking for a bit of an insight before i land downunder again 😅

    • @bricksbyty
      @bricksbyty  Před rokem

      Hey there,
      Thanks for your comment and also watching our video!
      It depends on a few factors, such as commercial work or residential work. With that being said, rates can range from ABN $40-$60 per hour in Melbourne. Work is usually found directly with the builders.
      Hope that helps! Best of luck with your move down under.

      Brickies are in a massive shortage and it’s getting worse, designs might change to suit that but there will always be work, new or remedial.
