  • Making your own Carbide Lathe tools is a way to save some money. I made 3 for about $40, instead of spending $80 on just one tool.

    Smart move on the past wax. When you first did it I was intrigued as to why the wax then it hit me when you started gluing it up. 👍

    Nice job! I'm doing the same thing currently. I'm looking for a good resource for the carbide. I found the steel bar at Atwoods in our local town.

    Methinks Katie should have made fewer runs through the drive-thru for a double quarter-pounder with cheese and large fries, and a side of lard.

  • @sitgesvillaapartmentneilsc7924

    Very nice, the hot wire and copper ferrules did it for me , most people wouldn't bother, but I would... My first ever proper wood lathe arrives next week so I will be copying these as I only have 3 old HSS lathe chisels which are ok but I have hundreds of Carbide tips from my metal working days collected hmmm. , I also have nice old calipers for working on wood lathes so will be cleaning them up for shaping and so on. Do you recommend a thread or would a nut and bolt work and is there a specific length of bar you need, I live in spain and its metric here but from memory on the tips its an imperial thread? I know the overall chisel length but not the bar. Nice work and finish. many thanks.

    Nice. I learned that using a pair of vise-grip type pliers while tapping equals a orange mushroom cloud.

    You got skills my friend, watching you at work is a pleasure! We're did you find the copper coupling, hoping it's the correct name, I'm not a born English speaking tongue, thanks so much for your help!

      the copper is probably just a copper fitting from plumbing or a piece of pipe cut down. that is what i would do and then turn the wood to the diameter of the copper Ferrule..

      They were couplings from the plumbing isle of the hardware store that I had just cut them down to the size I wanted.

      Randy Arnold yeah it has almost been a year since I got the license. Been driving all over the Midwest mostly. And bought a house fixer upper recently. Texas seems better anyways, have there been any good games lately.

      Rabbitwood Workshop tbh I give it all up I still play every once in a while. I think I played so much for those few years I’m just burned out haha. I logged onto steam the other day and noticed fault has a beta or alpha out.
      We just bought a fixer upper too good think you know how to nail boards together though lol

    • @RabbitwoodWorkshop
      @RabbitwoodWorkshop  Před 4 lety

      Randy Arnold yeah those were some good times while it lasted. I play my ps4 every once in awhile. I bet a lot the ppl trying to remake the game are realizing how much time and work it really takes to make one. Working on my house, I’m realizing that it takes at least twice the amount of time to get things done than what initially thought. If not longer lol

    Why bother to notch the metal for the inserts? Why not simply screw them onto the square bar?
