6:29 Whenever you see opened up like that or in some other way since there's a array of different designs, it means the engine is reversing it's thrust in a forward direction to help stop the plane faster. Basically, the plane is in reverse, lol, It's a really neat and important feature.
I think the reason the engines on the Ethiopian Cargo jet appeared to have a missing panel was that the crew was engaging engine systems for re-directing engine gasses to make landing rolls much shorter. I think the system is referred to as either 'thrust diverters' or 'thrust reversers'. It was at about the 6:25 point in this video.
I was on a flight that had a missed approach. We could see the runway lights when the plane had to fly back up and circle. When we landed the pilot told us the tower gave another plane the okay to land on the same runway and would be filing a complaint.
i think the airport you were talking about at the end was the old kai tak airport where the final approach was over a mountain and the pilots had to use a checkered board to know when to turn right before landing, a very cool airport
Years back I was on a charter flight from Brussels to New York, it was winter time, and a crammed packed plane. I was stuck in a middle seat (of which I was later very grateful for) sandwiched between a massive Greek football player, and a very large German woman.
Our wings kept icing up, and we had to make an emergency landing in Iceland. We hit the thickly iced tarmac, then the plane/jet turned absolutely SIDEWAYS. We slid sideways down the whole length of the runway, and bounced up against a wall of plowed snow. If not for the Big Greek dude, and the lovely big Brunhilda, my skinny lil 17 year old body would have been flying thru the cabin. The German woman and her friends kindly offered me a ride in their “hippy VW van to the bus station in NY city. I was ready to stay on the ground for quite some time!

Flew into Logan Airport in Boston, and we hit the runway so hard…, I swear the pilot must have been a navy carrier pilot.
I flew on a British Airways Airbus A380 from Heathrow to Chicago. Amazing aircraft.

While A320 landing you can hear ATIS informator, which reads current weather conditions. It's not a pilot or ATC
You guys should react to the worst plane crashes that caused catastrophic damages. The one in Tenerife where two jumbo jets collided on the runway was horrendous and another one was El AL flight that crashed into an apartment complex in Amsterdam...boy oh boy it was terrible!
If you're ever free on time I reccomend watching BigJetTV, he usually livestreams on CZcams from London Heathrow and either him or people in chat share a lot of different knowledge in the aviation world.

I've only flown a handful of times but it's the takeoff that scares the shit out of me. Everything else is fine.

Other than the more intrusive greedy CZcams commercials, I especially love it when content providers don't know how to audio edit and then whisper through the video. I get it, Daz....you mostly love quietude. Except when you're in the stands of the pitches, yeah? Turn your goddamned audio up. Both your channels are barely audible. Bring back Dave for tech support.
Audio levels sounded just fine to me. Been watching numerous different channels and haven't touched my volume control even once.
@@michaelhoward142 Sounds good. Well, since you're obviously an audio engineer, I'll defer to you then. You clearly don't like it when people have different opinions than you. I've also been listening to plenty of other channels, and none have been so low-volume. Also, if you've been watching this channel for a minute, he's been known to tell Dave (when he was on) to "turn it down a bit" when it wasn't even loud.

Bali Ngurah Rai Airport in Indonesia also has runaway on the ocean, there is one accident when a plane crashed to the side of the runaway (wich is ocean) 😅, luckily everybody was safe.
