  • How to tie a Lightweight Buzzer for Fly Fishing
In this video we'll go through the basics of tying a Lightweight Buzzer pattern! A great pattern to use on the reservoirs when the fish are high up in the water.

Hi Rhys, Its nice to see the little tweaks that could make a difference. I agree with oldgold on the epoxy bit. But in place of the plastic tinsel, I use clingfilm. Mess about with it, fold it, stretch it. Very versatile. Makes nice wing case. Well done.

Nice Shaun. I'll give it a try on one in the future!

Great pattern Rhys. I tend to go for epoxy buzzers for deep, thread less ones shallower and sub surface I use a cool black cruncher variants and an off black seals fur spider ribbed with stretched plastic tinsel type stuff that you can get from craft stores. It's the sort that crafter's use to make Easter egg nests etc... Give it a stretch until it becomes really thin and wiry,.....not sure if it does reflect it, but looks like it under a UV light....shhhhh don't tell anyone!

Nice. Interesting using the pheasant tail to segment rather that something on top. An 1/8 inch! Surprised a man of your few years uses that term...

Rhys What make are the scissors that you are using in this video, I like the look of them, appearing to be longer than the ubiquitous 4” which with large hands I find fiddly.

Very nice fly - Cant get hold of UV tinsel at the moment - do you think pearl mylar over the purple tinsel would have the same effect?

It would make a significantly brighter fly than the original but would work just as well 👍
