- I made Tom Brown and thought I show you how.
Here are the measurements (Specific to Nigerian Markets) and quantities I used:
1 mudu of Yellow Corn
1 mudu of Guinea Corn
Half mudu of Millet
Half mudu of Soya Beans
2 Cups of Groundnuts
A Handful of dried Ginger
However, 1 mudu is about 6 standard measuring cups.
IMO, this is truly the best Tom Brown Recipe and I hope you enjoy it too.
Thank God I saw your post. I only washed my soya beans before I saw your post and went back to wash the other grains. I hope my Tom brown comes out well. Wish me luck.
Well done, Favour. I hope your Tom Brown comes out really nice.
Love the simplicity

You're welcome, Dinma.
well done
Thank you.
You just got a new subscriber ❤❤❤. I love how simple and detailed you made the process seem. Please did you seive after gringing it?
Awww... Thank you.
No, no need to sieve. It won't be powder smooth, but that's the Fibre nutrient.
@@DooshimaDanladi Awesome 👍 thanks for taking the time.
@@ladybee202 you're welcome 🤗
You're so beautiful without makeup Babes .Yaya Aiki
Awww... Thank you so much, Tosin. Aiki lafiya kalau. Ya iyale?
I love this video. Well explained. But why didn't you peel the groundnut skin? Is it ok like that?
Thank you so much❤️
You can absolutely peel the Groundnuts if you want. I just prefer not to.
Can a 5 month old baby take this. Tombrown
I wouldn't advise that.
Preferably for complementary feeding i.e babies six months and older.
How long do you dried the grains?
One sunny day is all it takes. But even if not, they will dry completely when you toast them. Keeping them wet for days can cause fungi to grow on them.
Can i add coconut to it
Never seen coconut added to Tom Brown, but you can add it if it's what you want
Thank God i came across this. God bless you. Can I add cray fish to my tom brown?
You're welcome, Fummi. God bless you too.
Although some people add Crayfish to their Tom Brown, I usually don't and that's just because it's for my entire family, not just my kids.
Please can I add cloves and tigernut
Yes, you can.
But even this basic recipe is very delicious as it is. I promise you
@@DooshimaDanladi Hi Ma. Thanks for the detailed explanation.. Did you wash the soya beans alongside the other grains ?
Hi Ijeoma. Yes, I washed, dried and toasted the soya beans too. Thank you for your feedback ❤️
After grinding do you Sive
No, I don't.
Please do tiy you peel the skin of the soyabean and for groundnut did you use fresh one?
Yes, I peeled the soya bean.
You can soak it in water and remove the peel before drying and roasting.
Or you can roast first, then take to the mill for them to dehusk before grinding with the other grains.
I just noticed that if you don't roast it won't grind well
That's actually a good point.
Hello chocolateMix, does it aid weight gain?
Hi... I believe it does. The ingredients are indicative of that.
But have you witnessed weight gain taking it. Why didn't u add oat, brown rice, to yours. Any reason why? Thanks for your time
@osogieewanehi2512 I honestly can't say that I've experienced weight gain because of Tom Brown and that's mostly because I didn't wean my kids with it or anything like that. I just like it because it's nutritious and yummy 😋
I've also tried adding those other ingredients, but I didn't quite like it. So I've stuck with this recipe that I like very much.
But you can add other things if you like, by all means.
@@DooshimaDanladi Thanks for the thoughtful response. Appreciate 💯🙏
You're welcome...
can I wash out d back of d soya beans as in hiw we wash beans for moi moisture?
moi moi*
Absolutely. You can soak and peel before drying and then toasting.
Can i add the soyabeans together while grinding or it has to be separate.?
You should grind the soya beans with the rest.
You just have to make sure to remove the back first.
Thanks for sharing sister. Please what do you mean by Mudu, because is derica we use in Lagos. I await your response thanks
Oh, okay... So a mudu is the standard of measurement in the Northern markets as a Derica is in Lagos.
One mudu is equal to 2 dericas.
I mudu contains 9milk cups
@gloriaileh9649 that's right
I've been wanting to make this but was confused between cooking or roasting the soyabeans
Aha! I'm glad this video solved that for you.
You can cook it then wash the skin off. And dry before roasting. With that, you dont need to go to mile with two bowls
That makes a lot of sense. Thank you.
@@okohoyifie4692 alright, thank you.
I cooked mine before I saw this video. Unfortunately, the weather changed and now it's raining... what do I do, please?
Please is 3 cups of yellow corn
3 cups of Guineacor
2 cups of Millet
2 cups of suyabeans
2cups of Rice
1 cup of Tigernut
1 cup of Groundnut
1 cup of Dates
1 cup of Crayfish
Is this measurement ok. Help me ma
Hi. The recipe I use doesn't include rice, Crayfish, Tiger nuts, dates. So I can't quite say if the measurements are correct or not, sorry.
Instead of using peanut, can l use Cashew nuts
Yes, you can use Cashew nuts. But the classic Tom Brown has that peanuty flavor to it.
Really like this, but it's a little bit long😃
😄 I wanted to make it really detailed.
Please after the making, can it be kept in the flask for some hours because I do drop my baby in the creche.
This goes bad quite quickly so I wouldn't advise that.
@@DooshimaDanladi
Okay, thanks.
@@olowogemoomotoke3088 you're welcome
Can white corn be used instead of yellow corn?
I guess so. Although I've only ever used (and seen being used) yellow corn.
It is also believed to be more nutritious than white corn.
Please what if theres no sun to dry these if its rainy season?
You can just spread it out to get rid of excess moisture maybe for a day or two. Roasting it will dry out the remaining moisture, it'll just take longer.
Thanks for your reply
You're welcome 🤗
Please what's the quality of the guinea corn , millet and soya bean you use
Do you mean quantity?
@@DooshimaDanladi yes please it was typing error
OK. If you're in Nigeria, 1 mudu of Guinea Corn, ½ mudu of Soya Beans, ½ mudu of millet.
If not, 1 mudu is about 6 standard measuring cups.
@@DooshimaDanladi thank you very much
@@DecencyDeGracious you're welcome. Happy to help.
Can I make tom brown without soya beans
Absolutely! Although it is a necessary ingredient, it isn't compulsory in case you're allergic or something.
Is it good for diabetes
According to Google, it helps in controlling diabetes. I haven't had a personal experience though.
😮
Can i add dates to it?
Absolutely!
I think the groundnuts should be peel or not
It's all about preference, really.
I prefer not to peel mine.
1st comment 😁
😂Precious... As always!
Count me in guyzzz ❤ I wish my page will grow like urs ❤
It sure will. Just give it time
You didn't say how many minutes they supposed last on fire
Just stay close and keep stirring so they don't burn, toast on low heat. Each batch would take 10-20 minutes.
@@DooshimaDanladi please after roasting ,how will I take off the back the grains
How many hours am I so son the grains
You're not soaking the grains.
Only washing/rinsing immediately
You only need to take off the back of the soya beans, they can do that for you where you go to grind, or you can pound to get it off yourself.
Ingredients names please
I used: Yellow Corn, Guinea Corn, Soya Beans, Millet and Groundnuts.
@@DooshimaDanladi I thought you added ginger
Yes. For Flavour.
Can I make and turn in a flask for late?
For How long?
I wouldn't advise that because it goes bad quite quickly.
The talks are so much 😢
Ok
