活动宗旨
为配合多国之喀斯特日，近打谷监测站于2024年6月再度举办【怡保喀斯特醒觉月】以提高人们对喀斯特地貌的认识及其重要性的意识。喀斯特地貌是由可溶性岩石，如石灰岩、白云石等的溶解形成的，产生了独特的地貌特征，如洞穴、天坑和地下排水系统。怡保有“山城”之称，其实更准确的应该是“喀斯特城”，而近打谷的喀斯特地貌在过去数千年里，滋养了大部分生活在这个区域的人，塑造了这里独特的人文风貌。此次的喀斯特醒觉日的活动，包括教育活动、喀斯特地区的导览、保护倡议以及其他活动，旨在突出强调保护和保存这些脆弱生态系统的重要性。
Objectives:
To coincide with the International Karst Day, Kinta Valley Watch is once again hosting the IPOH KARST AWARENESS MONTH JUN 2024 to raise awareness about the importance of karst landscapes. Karst landscapes are formed from the dissolution of soluble rocks such as limestone and dolomite, resulting in unique features such as caves, sinkholes, and underground drainage systems. Ipoh, known as the Hill City, is more accurately described as the Karst City and the karst landscapes of the Kinta Valley have nurtured the majority of people living in this region over the past thousands of year, shaping its unique cultural landscape. This Karst Awareness Month event includes educational activities, guided tours of karst areas, conservation initiatives, and other activities aimed at highlighting the importance of protecting and preserving these fragile ecosystems.
