Honestly the only people skeptical about the graphics or gameplay are those who don't know Pearl Abyss. Nah the only concern for me is the story. That's usually where they seem to struggle a bit.
Right, BDO easily has the best combat of almost ANY game I've played, let alone an MMO. They'll do things fine, I'm worried about the VA and a bare bones story.
The combat and graphics were absolutely top notch in BDO but it still suffered from server lag and stuttering issues. Coming from a top GvG Sorc. It was awful. I figured it would have been a component of the netcode but seeing this trailer makes me think it's a quirk of their engine.
I have thought off and on about trying BD, but the whole MMO thing isn't my speed. What game would you say is close to it's combat style?@@Halosrighthand
@@WarriorCicada Maybe Vindictus, but that's another MMO. It's a very unique system of directional inputs and combos, I haven't found any other game that does it as well as BDO. DMC series is probably as close as one can get in a single player game.
Love or hate Black Desert you have to give it to Pearl Abyss, they are actually EXTREMELY skilled devs, on a purely technical level they never failed to deliver graphically or gameplay-wise. Their main failing was story and other typical MMO design features like quests and NPCs. The rest was really good. They were also extremely speedy at programming and patching, BDO rarely had bugs and any problems usually got fixed in days rather than months. I am pretty confident that Crimson Desert will deliver on what we've seen on a gameplay, graphics and technical level but content-wise and world design decisions might be another matter. I'm not sure Pearl Abyss actually ever learned how to build a consistent living world but might be wrong, maybe CD is their chance to address failings they learned from during BDO, who knows.
An MMO might be more scarcely populated because it's multiplayer focused. A single player game will probably have a lot more going on in the world because of the fact that it's single player.
Interesting my take on them is a bit different from yours. I have not seen any MMO deliver a living world as intricate as pearl abyss with BDO (original BDO). The simple touches like collision with NPCs triggering movement like they were bumped into. The way initially you had to use lanterns at night. The way things about the world were discovered in actual books in the game and that knowledge could affect your ability to fight and deal damage to monsters in the world.....and much more....the issue with a lot of that stuff is they started rolling it back later in the name of convenience. I hope since this is a single player title they go back in that direction and even further rather than going in the direction of making things too convenient and losing the details that help with immersion because of the convenience.
Judging by black desert, the team is capable of delivering graphically stunning games with amazing character effects and animations. I truly am holding high hopes on this game

@PanjolArt I guess but the world itself makes up for it imo. If you play it like a elder scrolls game and just explore it, it actually goes pretty hard.
I'm sceptical they can pull of a project with this insane scope and technical depth, this goes so much further than BDO it's barely even comparable. And then to also have it run well. I'll be really happily surprised if they can though.
