I have these. They are GREAT!! The zippers are strong, but the zipper pulls are absolute garbage. They get stuck sideways. Break them off and replace with paracord; good to go!!

I was with you up until the Axe, haha. Call me old fashioned but I prefer wood handles. Other inexpensive basic gear to get started:
    1. cheap tarp or poncho
    2. a couple of 5mil drum liner trash bags
    3. Single walled stainless steel bottle and cup.
    4. compass and map of the area you plan to be
    5. notepad and pencil
    6. Travel sewing kit
    7. Bic lighter
    8. Headlamp
    9. Cotton bandana

I would also highly recommend a decent multitool not just for Bushcraft but everyday use too. Gerber or SOG if you can afford it but I'm sure there's decent cheaper options. A good pair of multitool pliers can be invaluable in many situations. Also a marlin spike is great for undoing knots. No need to over spend, these things just tend to be at every antique mall I've ever seen. Or they're easy to make if you're handy. Also after thinking about it, I've never seen bush crafters recommending gloves but I personally would. Nothing too fancy just cheap work gloves preferably leather but it doesn't have to be. Gotta protect those digits.

Btw I have a Leatherman supertool 300 for my edc its hefty for a multi-tool but its always come in clutch.
