I use my fingers to detangle my hair. Always. I grew my hair to tailbone length. Works every time. Sometimes I do not comb my hair at months at a time. Best method.
My mother used to sit around with me for hours detangling my super kinky hair. It was my least favorite part of the week. 20 years later I still have a scar from where I used to dig into my knee to distract me from the pain of styling(I got tired of getting my hand popped)
As an adult I found that I wasn’t just tinder headed but I have fibromyalgia, which sends my pain receptors into a tizzy at any touch.
When I turned 11 I decided that no one needs to do my hair but me (if you can’t be sensitive to my pain you don’t need to touch me)
I decided I was done arguing over whether or not it “really even hurts that bad”
As an adult I understand the pressure my mother was under dealing with mid back 4z hair in the early 2000 when black girls didn’t have a lot of options. I see now she was doing the best she could with what she had. It doesn’t give her an excuse to discredit my pain or snap at me for having a lot of hair and experiencing pain (I was still a child after all)
As an adult I didn’t let my hair grow past my shoulders until I discovered the silicone detangler brush (u know the one with the moving bristles) and since then my hair routine had been cut down 2 1/2 hours and I no longer dread wash day! I will literally harass any black parent I meet to get the brush (doesn’t have to be a specific brand just get it)
If I would’ve had this brush in my youth my entire life would be different… I’d have a better relationship with my mother and more importantly my hair! I stand here today a 26 year old disabled woman who has been freed from the shackles kinky coily hair had placed on my feet in youth. I urge you to buy a rake detangler brush and truly transform your hair routine. Trust me, it will change the relationship you have with your hair instantly! I have one, but it only works on the back of my hair! When I use it on top of my hair and the sides I can't get it through my hair! I just revert back to my wide tooth comb or Afro comb!

Oh I am so very glad , nothing is wrong with starting fresh and chopping your hair off , but if that’s not your hearts desire please don’t, because your hair can be saved , takes a bit of patience and grace , use a lot of water 💦 and a great oil with plenty of slip . And find a rhythm with untangling the knots 🪢 and next thing you know your hair is free , the more gentle you are the more hair you will retain , go slow it may take a couple of days , the great thing is your healthy and your hair understands everything you went through and wants to make you feel better and more beautiful 😍 here are the links to the two products I used in the video

I love what you said about adding vitamins and minerals to soften water. I always add Infusium 23 Pro-Vitamin B5 complex to my water. I don’t even know why I’ve always done this, but I see now that this has been the right thing to do.

Interesting thoughts of chemistry of the water, but regular tap water really is fine for natural hair, or any kind of hair. It is hard water that you want to avoid at all costs.

My hair would never detangle like that, it's like velcro so I have to make sure I use thick creamy oily things right after washing to prevent issues until the next time I detangle and wash. A detangling brush is really amazing. I finger detangle first, sometimes having to pull hairs out of knots by going near the scalp and then sectioning and brushing with the detangler, it really smoothes through it and I use it in the shower too, to spread the product around. I used to use wide toothed combs but the detangler brush is less painful and faster.

My hair did this at the ends when I was sick with COVID I believe it was from using bonding conditioners on my ends I had to cut 15inches of hair I was growing for over 10yrs I cried it was terrible. Now all I use is natural products on my hair.

@@cocaknotz As soon as you have your new salon I'm coming! My hair is just breaking off and I've been at armpit length for a while. I try to finger detangle but I get frustrated and grab my brush. I need patience and just learn how to detangle properly. I have a hard time after I've washed my hair. That's when it tangles the most. I've tried washing my hair in sections and in twists; still tangles.
What's in the water or what would you recommend to soften the water?

I can’t wait to have a space where I can help you out , since your hair is fragile and unruly I advise you do a protective styles and just don’t touch your hair in this state , switch your products, you may be using a product that your hair simply hates , switch to 1 all natural products and spray your hair with water everyday, you have to to leave your hair alone and feed it so your hair can repair itself 🥰

thank you for your video maam. The whole reason I avoid doing my hair/getting it done is because lack of knowledge but mostly because of the combing. I have a very sensitive scalp and it HURTS. I always have since I was a lil girl so getting my hair done is my least favorite activity thats hard to do even tho I hate letting my hair get matted and how crazy I look. Yes use tons of water on a small section at a time then use a little oil maybe coconut oil and use your fingers to detangle 🥰

I don't have your products but i did recently bought a detangling pre shampoo, detangling shampoo, detangling conditioner, detangling leave in conditioner, and rosemary growth oil all from the same line. Will the process work but with different products other than the ones used in the video? Also what order i need to used it in?
My hair is so matted at the point where it's all in one lock, watching your video gives me hope that I might actually be able to detangle it instead of shaving it all off, I haven't cut my hair since freshman year of high school my best friend is coming over tomorrow to help me detangle my hair and try to save it, I'm so absolutely embarrassed I can't believe I let it get to this point.

With extremely matted hair, would you detangle like this first, then shampoo, then moisturize and detangle again, or would you shampoo the matted hair first?
Definitely detangle first , because shampooing first will be the worst idea and you will regret it , it will create a lot more tangles , and don’t detangle with conditioner use oils instead
My granddaughter has a head full of tangles, dreads and I don't know what to do. She is extremely tender headed and doesn't want her hair combed. She had dreads and I cut them out to put braids in. Use tons of water and an a natural oil that you may have in your house like olive oil or grape seed of coconut oil and goooooo slooow . Try this until you can afford better detangling products

I just found your page and feel encouraged to help my family members. My daughter has a mental illness and her hair is locked. I’m purchasing these products so I can work on her hair. I washed it after I detangled and put in in sections, make sure you shampoo in sections, so you don’t tangle your hair back up , I highly recommend blowing it out so you don’t have to deal with tangles for the first month until you get used to your hair again . once the hair has has been combed out-do you wash out the product or you leave it in?
The product does not have to be washed out because it’s literally just oils , but I do advise to just go ahead and shampoo the hair in sections the blow dry to prevent the hair from tangling back instantly because it’s used to being matted
