  • Maryland State Attorney for the city of Baltimore Marilyn Mosby announced on Friday morning that Freddie Gray‘s death in police custody was ruled a homicide by the medical examiner, and that there is sufficient probable cause to file criminal charges against the six officers involved.
    The six Baltimore police officers involved in the arrest of Freddie Gray will now face criminal charges ranging from murder to manslaughter to assault. The driver of the police van was charged with second-degree murder, while three officers were charged with involuntary manslaughter. Other officers were also charged with assault in connection with the murder.

    Negligence negligence negligence from top to bottom and start to finish! it is not illegal to run from an officer if no unlawful action on the part of the suppose perp has taken place. they illegally pursued him, illegally detained him, severed his spine by 80%, threw him in the back of a paddy wagon unrestrained and ignored all of his cries for medical attention!
    the way that Freddie gray died is very unusual and uncommon, but the actions of the police officers that day up until today May 1st 2015 is commonplace for them to lie and cover for one another . And some of you can cry all you want that there are good cops, but when good cops see this kind of garbage going on daily and they remain quiet, that makes a good cop just as culpable as the piece of s*** cop!

      ***** She wasn't hired into the position of State Attorney, she was elected. WFG Transamerica "It's all political"? Quite cynical of you. She reported findings of both the police investigation corroborated by an independent investigation - sounds to me like there was plenty of justification to bring charges against the officers. Thus she's doing her job properly - it would be arguably political if she *didn't* bring charges against the officers. Whether the charges "stick" is up to the court and the jury.

      ***** The position that she holds isn't a position that lends itself to affirmative action! She was elected the same way you or me "a white person" would've been elected!
      I see you "elected" to epitomize the underlying problem in the brains of so many ignorant people of today. If it was a white person that held her position.....it must've been on integrity and brains alone?
      She, a black person holds the job......it must've been some underlying and undeserving reason that she has the job and her integrity, dedication, knowledge, community skills etc.....couldn't possibly be the reason she was elected?
      You epitomize the systemic problem that's in this country and it is strong within you.....and that's not a compliment!

    Very impressed with State Attorney Marilyn Mosby. I think she did an outstanding job with this press conference and truly reflects high ethics. I do hope all give her the respect that she deserves. The caption of this video, should read "State Attorney Marilyn Mosby" in lieu of referring to her just by her first name. I do believe, what the State Attorney stated, that she formed an independent investigation, and all members worked around the clock, in an ethical manner during the investigation the process. I do not under stand why someone had question, that she needed to recuse herself from the case. There is no conflict of interest. What I don't understand is if the coroner, concluded the manner of death a homicide, why the charges would not be murder. But then again, we do need to wait for the factual information once it the case gets underway. I do think the citizens of Baltimore can be reassured, with having this State Attorney, heading up the case, that a fair and ethical process will be conducted.

      ***** Hi Thomas. I too have not drawn any conclusions either way. It's impossible to do so, I have no idea what took place. I too, will be learning as this goes along. I think once you are charged with a crime, there has to be just cause to do so. None of which we are privy too, but I guess based on the results of the investigation, it was found there was just cause for a warrant for arrest. So, the State Attorney, has a job to do in prosecuting and based on a warrant for arrest being issued, I think that means there was just cause in their eyes. So, the State Attorney, at this stage would not be wrong in stating she will be seeking justice. It's just like when a Defense Attorney, of one of their clients who has been arrested, states, once the facts come out in the trial, my client will be found not guilty. It would have been wrong if the State Attorney, stated she will be seeking justice for Freddie Gray, prior to an investigation of the facts resulting in just cause for an arrest. Not an expert by no means, just sorting this out myself.

    • @danunderwood6240

      ***** I also think she was privy to the facts and seems sincere in her desire to seek justice for the family. Unlike McCullough who did everything to discredit the family of Brown and was trying to get "justice" for Wilson.

    • @lymesuffering6126
      @lymesuffering6126 Před 9 lety

      ***** Hi again Thomas, I just addressed your question in my previous response. At this stage, after the investigation did take place, and warrants were issued for arrest, it is her job to seek justice. If she had stated that before an investigation and before authority was granted for an arrest warrant based on the results of the investigation, then yes, I think that would be completely wrong.

      I had a cop took two months to get the video to my lawyer when he assaulted me and made an unlawful arrest. He also talked to the witness for a long time afterwards who was threatening to kick my ass and called it in when there was no crime being committed. Turned out they were friends. So cops, who have all access to the evidence and all the ability to edit and manipulate said evidence. They have all the time in the world to collaborate their stories.... regular poor folks don't get that chance.

    It is within white communities that you will find protection. You should have never believed that you would be safe in a predominately black community. They are out to persecute you with great determination.
    Moreover, any white investor that has invested in this black community should pull out all his or her money, as the people there have proven that they are willing to destroy businesses, harm white patrons, and destroy whatever you have built in that area. If you build in white communities, you are going to see your property protected, patrons respected, and a greater return for your investment.

    How about Mosby’s own mistake? Her case against the two arresting officers rests upon an “illegal” arrest. She says the knife that Freddie Gray was carrying was legal. But according to the Baltimore Sun, the police task force examined it and said the officers were indeed correct, the knife was spring-assisted and therefore prohibited. If so, it was Mosby who made the “illegal” arrest, and could be charged under her own theory of “false imprisonment.”And sued to boot, since she forfeited her immunity from civil action by doing the charging herself.

    A Great Start Cops Need to Stop playing judge and jury.Just one case with Freddie Gray case, The aftermath of the attack was captured on video, showing Gray being hauled up from the ground, clearly with a severely broken leg, and little control over his own body.Officers then dump him in the back of a police van.
    Aside from what was a obviously brutal attack, the fact that medical professionals and an ambulance were not immediately called to the scene is criminal in itself.
    The police report states that the “arrest” took place at 8:54am. An ambulance was not called to the Western District police station until half an hour later at 9:24am.
    The incident occurred one week ago on Sunday 12th April. Gray has since been in critical condition in hospital in an induced coma with shattered vertebra, a broken spine, a broken leg and a crushed larynx.
    “While in police custody, his spine was 80% severed at his neck,” William Murphy Jr, an attorney for Gray’s family, said in a statement on Sunday. “We believe the police are keeping the circumstances of Freddie’s death a secret until they develop a version of events that will absolve them of all responsibility.” Relatives said Gray also suffered swelling to his brain

    I want to know why the second passenger in the transport van has completely changed his story now. He first stated Freddie appeared to be self-inflicting his injuries in the van. Now he's saying that's not true and he could only hear slight banging from Freddies side of the van. So which story is true I wonder ?

    • @danunderwood6240
      @danunderwood6240 Před 9 lety

      Angelina Mcfadden The second one. The first one was probably coerced by the cop in exchange form a drop in his sentence. Happens all the time.. cops offer another inmate a reprieve for testifying against a defendant even though most of that is made up.

      buckhaa1502 Because in case after case there have been examples of cops offering pleas for testimony from prisoners against a perp they are trying to make a case against. Trust me I have done more research and reading about police misconduct than about anyone posting on here. This is new... nor is it surprising. it's only surprising to those people who always believe the cops word and don't look at reality.

    • @Rugged08
      @Rugged08 Před 9 lety

      Angelina Mcfadden Perhaps, contrary to what Dan Underwood said, the first story is correct. The other passenger wanted to tell the truth, so he started to, the first time. But rather than being coerced by a cop, he was coerced by someone in the city government (or even higher) or perhaps a community organizer, or even a rioter to renege his first story. So he began backpedaling

    Baltimore is going to regret bringing charges against the 6 officers. The main reason is that evidence will show that Gray has had 3 surgeries for an injury to his back. The last surgery was just several weeks prior to his death. He had been told by his doctor to be careful of exerting himself. In light of this, I think that it is highly probable that the fatal injury that day occurred when the police took him to the ground and were on top of him. That makes Gray,s death a complete accident. The evidence for this is in some of the photos which have been in the press. The main one is the photo that shows Gray being dragged towards the van. Look at how both of his legs are in a very awkward position such as that it indicates to me that he no longer had control of his leg functions at that point. Then when they get him close to the van, you can see the officers are holding him up. He happened to be known for always resisting arrest in his long arrest sheet. No one realized just how bad he had been hurt. The ride in the back of the van had nothing to do with the fatal back injury
