  • @Lloyd1885

I would paint ot first, then fill, water in the wet filler can undermine the paste and cause bubbling, no rosh of the sandpaper scratching the lining then....or use lightweight filler as it barely contains any water, no sanding needed.

Not having a go but why don’t you butt joints?
What do you do if you’re hanging a pattern? You can fill that!
If you have to fill, it’s either a poor hanging job or a very uneven problem area.
Use 1kg ready mixed with some paint (hard stop) I always butt joints with a seam roller so haven’t needed to fill joints in years, always use paste the wall wallrock lining ( quicker to hang by miles, no shrinking so no gaps to fill).
Also I never ever use powder paste, just use ready mixed, even consistency, the problems I had using packet paste (little too much water and the paper expands too much then butted subsequent drops don’t stick as the paper shrinks back, hence gaps.
Use in between coats sandpaper otherwise you will wreck the paper or not sand down correctly.
