- The Garmin Venu 2 Plus is a smartwatch that is designed for fitness and health tracking. It has a large, high-resolution AMOLED display and is water-resistant. It also has built-in GPS, a heart rate monitor, and a wide range of fitness and health tracking features such as stress tracking, sleep tracking, and menstrual cycle tracking. Additionally, it can play music and has a long battery life. It also has an ability to connect with other devices such as mobile and smart devices with which it can sync data and can be controlled and operated via the device. It also supports smart notification and has a variety of watch faces to choose from. But the question is should you wait for Garmin Venu 3 or buy Venu 2 Plus now?

Update: now if you live in the US your Venu 2 Plus will also have the ECG app!
Watching this in 2024. Thinking about upgrading from the original Venu just for the speaker.
The Asus Smart watch 2 I bought in 2015 had a mic & a speaker. I was able to make calls & speak through it & even write to reply to text. I was also able to watch YT vids on it too & control my phone's camera. It was only $150 & it had just come out.
Impressive
I must say that you have gone into important details that no other reviewer has. Very professional and diligent. My heart has been set on this watch since a year ago, but I chose to go for the Amazfit GTR 3 PRO instead. It's an almost perfect watch with all the metrics I would ever need apart from a crappy inconsistent HR algorithm. And when the HR readings are inconsistent and inaccurate all the ensuing metrics are out of place and useless. My question for this watch is, does it have an overall metric of how well you're doing? A metric that would provide an alert that you're either overtraining or undertraining for example? As far as I know it doesn't give even the workout load of each individual activity. Is there a metric which keeps track of your overall performance/progress, something similar to Amazfit's PAI??
Thanks so much for the kind words! That's what this watch is lacking. A training status.
The closest to that is intensity minutes which as far as I know all other Garmin watches have and you can customise your intensity goal per week and see how much each workout has pushed you towards your intensity minutes goal.
That's why, if you work out a lot or even just consistently, but seriously I recommend looking into other watches than V2P.
@@RyansTechMedia Thank you! 👍
@@RyansTechMedia May I ask which watches you would recommend that do gave those features and are still also quite good looking for daily life?
@@femke576 Some Polar watches have those but I haven't tried them yet but they're high quality watches. A relatively affordable one is the new Garmin Forerunner 265 with training load. I have a video on it that you can watch. Did you know about the 265?
@@RyansTechMedia what u mean ? The venu 2 plus offers training status ?
Really found this helpful. I can't believe it won't auto track HRV in the middle of sleep. That's one of the big things Whoop brought to the market after extensive studies. Did you test broadcasting heart rate to any fitness machines (rower, mirror, treadmill, fitness apps, etc)?
I've used the broadcasting feature a lot with treadmills at least and it works flawlessly.
It’s a great watch and lasts a long time. The new Afib detector seems nice.
There's a lot of case surrounds out there for sale now that make these watches look tougher
Thank you for the review, clear, accurate and interesting as always. What is the watch face you are using?
Thanks for watching! It's actually one of the stock watch faces.
Love your reviews. Just stumbled upon your channel and you are so in depth! I had a Venu 2 Plus for a short bit and I really loved it but I found it was super buggy. Have you had a similar issue?
Glad you like them! Yes, it used to be more buggy when it was released, at least for a while. Watch crashing, etc. But it seems more stable these days. Now their new Forerunner watches have some bugs too, which is a typical thing for some time after the initial release.
@@RyansTechMedia oh interesting! thats helpful to know, thanks!
Ho do u find the venu 2 plus ? Should I get the venu 2 plus or the 965/265?
Just a heads up: if the text is too long you can actually scroll and see the full thing. I only just noticed this by accident after using this watch for a couple months 😂
Hello from France , Thank you very much for your test videos for this watch. Could you share a video of the automations you did with your samsung phone? Good day 😃
goodreveiew been using it for about a week ..... they couldhave a bit more inyuitive way to get to the music screen to set off the music before i run ... but i am finally used to it now but took me a while
I've had the Venu 2 for about 3 weeks now.
Inaccurate step count (it counts steps when I'm driving or taking a shower), inaccurate calorie count (it counts calories when I'm not wearing the watch.
GPS takes a while to find. More than a minute on many occasions. GPS seems accurate though when I'm running.
It's an okay watch but very much comes with gimmicks.
I like venue 2 plus software upgrade a must is. Make the screen or button enable to press , press hold to change music track or volume. Also add more stress level , heart beat reading gauges Into more of the watch face, venue 3 plus . Make the screen more back , forward press hold to the settings and do so without the buttons or with button set.
hi everyone, can i download a Golf app/map for this watch and use it "Live" on the course to see where i am etc ??
Anymore battery tips to prolong the battery life in the long run? Like do we follow that 20-80 rule where we keep the watch charged above 20% and stop at 80?
Definitely that does help. Make sure you get the latest firmware (14.10 I think), because they made some changes to increase battery lifespan. And me personally, after using it for more than 1.5 years of charging roughly between 20-25% to 90-100%, I see no difference in battery life.
Does it work with OS?
Can we synchronize downloaded apps from mobile phones like apple watch ?
The Altimeter is not accurate. The original strap is of poor quality... it gave me rashes! I ended up getting a third party strap and enjoy wearing it 24x7
How can I see the Sunset time in this watch?
The size îs 43 MM,but real visual display îs bigger then vivoactive 4 with 45mm display ?
Hello , can i pair this watch to my mate 20 pro huawei without issues please ?
Most likely, you'll be able to connect it to the watch, but you can't use the voice calling feature, if it's running Android 10. So not the most compatible phone.
What about sleep tracking, in the beginning when the watch came out people were complaining of it not being accurate when going to bed or waking up?
This has been improved with firmware updates, but of course it's not 100% accurate, ever!
Hi Ryan, could you pls tell me if the watch is swim proof for pool swim?
Yes, you can do pool swimming with it and track it.
Is it suitable for gym tracking ? Is it worth to upgrade from venu sq music to venu 2 plus or should I upgrade to forerunner 265?
I'd recommend upgrading to 265 because of the training load status otherwise yes, the Venu 2 Plus is capable of tracking your workouts at the gym. I have a video on Forerunner 265 that you can watch.
@@RyansTechMedia what about Samsung watch 5 pro ?
Good watch, but in terms of activity tracking in the gym, Venu 2 Plus and Forerunner 265 are much better.
@@RyansTechMedia what about Garmin 965? Does it have built in maps ? Can u navigate without phone ?coz I do hiking sometimes…
The touchscreen sucks when running and raining.
Can sormone help me understand the appeal of keeping their watch on in the shower? I've just meber understood because I don't need notifications while showering, I have to take it off anyway to dry underneath it afterwards, and it's a easy time to get a nice little charge.
When I work out at the gym I always take a shower while wearing it. A gym is one of the filthiest places and since I thouch it a lot, taking a shower with it cleans the watch too. And if I'm in a hurry, I don't dry it afterwards (but I probably should). There you have it. That's the appeal.
@@h2o466 Oh I never thought of the gym, I totally agree I'd keep it on there too!
Is it worth purchasing if i will only wear it once a week every saturday when jogging?
Honestly probably not!
There are much cheaper options out there for that type of infrequency.
@@RyansTechMedia if I do most my workout in the gym should I get the venu 2 plus or 265 ?
Hello, I need your opinion please. I recently bought the venu 2 plus and I'm starting with software version 12.13. the battery is maximum 2 days. I don't use GPS for sports and oxygen only when sleeping. Little use of notifications. what happen? the restored. Disconnected from the app. started again from bluetooth settings, do you know if this is normal?
Hey there! I have a video about this and I discovered that some kind of connectivity issue is probably the main cause of this battery drain. But it sounds like you've already reconnected and it hasn't helped. As far as I know what I've said in that video has help people resolve this issue, but it could also be a new bug with 12.13. For example, now for some reason, intentional or not, the Physio TrueUp is gone after this update. But still take a look at that video and see if it helps. Just make sure you pair the watch by using the Garmin Connect and not manually via Bluetooth (a mistake a lot of people make).
How is the scracht resistent? Is recommended any screen protector for this watch?
It has Gorilla Glass 3 so it's alright, but since the screen protectors are pretty inexpensive you can try and see how it affects the touch sensitivity. I personally haven't tried a screen protector and there are no scratches on it after more than a year.
@@RyansTechMedia Thank you :)
Does this Garmin reply to whatsapp through the watch itself?
Only quick replies which can be customized too.
I’m assuming you have a screen off setting about 10 seconds? As you’re repeatedly bringing the screen back to life.
I have this watch coming tomorrow.
I’ve got 2 harming watches already. They are generally improvements on the existing designs (which is good obviously!).
Please Russian translate 🙏
Hi there. How are you doing? I have my Garmin Venu 2 Plus and I was trying to ad an emergency contact but I can't do it in Garmin Connect. I can't do it with Romanian mobile phone number ( it has 11 digits )
With another country of phone numbers there's no problem ( 12 digits, Ukrainian phone number)
