- Game Changers of The Battlefield - AMOS & Patria Nemo
Patria’s Turreted Mortar Systems Experience, live fire exercise and seminar, was held on May 24th - 26th in the heart of Finnish Lapland. At the event the turreted mortar systems AMOS and Patria Nemo were seen in action performing in various operational scenarios.
Patria Nemo
A compact and modern mortar system
Patria Nemo is a turreted, remote-controlled 120 mm mortar system. It is an indirect fire support system, but due to its direct fire capability, it can also be used for self-defence. Patria Nemo can also fire Multiple Rounds Simultaneous Impact (MRSI) fire missions where upto 5 grenades are hitting the target simultaneously.
Turret and armoured chassis protect the crew against ballistic, mine and IED threats and battlefield contaminants within the protection level of the platform vehicle. The light and compact turret is easily installable on light, tracked chassis or wheeled armoured vehicles in the 6x6/8x8 class.
Advantages of the Patria Nemo
• Ballistic, mine, IED and NBC protection
• A lightweight structure, requiring little space within the platform and, therefore, adjustable for older chassis
• High rate of fire
• Rapid response
• Shoot and scoot
• Minimal crew (driver + 1 Nemo weapon officer + 2 loaders)
• Direct fire capability
• Direct lay capability
• Suitable for all standard 120 mm smoothbore mortar ammunition
• Large amount of onboard ammunition
• A chassis providing for high mobility
• Full 360° traverse
• Joint operations between Patria Nemo and Patria Nemo Navy units

AMOS
AMOS®,"Advanced MOrtar System", is a double barreled breech-loading 120 mm mortar turret designed to be mounted on wheeled or tracked APC chassis and on fast combat boats. It is able to operate autonomously with impressive firepower, including direct and indirect fire capability together with Multiple Rounds Simultaneous Impact (MRSI).
Thanks to a turreted mortar system both the mortar crew and the vehicle driver are protected against ballistic-, mine-, IED- and NBC-threats.
AMOS® is a product of Patria Hägglunds Oy.

Shame Sweden abandoned this project it had with Finland, I'm glad Finland kept developing it!
But if sweden have not be in start.. 🇸🇪🇫🇮
That looks like a serious piece of kit, 6 or 12 rounds all landing at the same time is a game changer. I hope the British Army takes these up, I think they are awesome. The way it took off over that hump and seamlessly came back to ground, I imagine the suspension system must be outstanding for a vehicle of that size.
czcams.com/video/jrZYl9_DdiQ/video.html Check it out, looks rad
they can be linked, imagine 10 of them firing from 10 different locations 6 or 12 rounds each for a simultaneus impact of 60-120 shells.
those mortar shells are cheap, but their effect is multiplied by this new tech.
@@petrihaikio7002 Yeah, and after the salvo, they can reposition themselves very, very fast, and be ready for a second massive salvo in minutes
I think it's pretty cool that these guys can be used for direct fire too. Develop a decent HEAT round for these guys and they'll be a major threat to BMPs and BTRs.
Maybe even MBTs, as it could have a shaped charge about the same diameter as one fired from a 120mm cannon.
@@TheCrazyFinn
Don't forget the maneuverability. I bet the vehicles could probably run circles around a T-72 and the only actual threat would maybe be the commander on the .50.
HEAT is less effective again IFVs, why? Because their appliqué armor is mainly designed to resist shaped charges. A KE round would be the solution.
@@TheCrazyFinn It would be doubly effecting if you made a guided mortar round and could drop it right on the roof hatch. It would have to be cheaper than a Javelin and far more devastating.
For an IFV though, just use the HE shell. The armor isn't thick enough to deal with a direct hit from a 120mm HE round.
Armored warfare is becoming an indirect fire business, this smells perfect
That Patria 8X8 with Nemo is one hell of a sexy beast
Welcome Patria XP to Brazil
Well, a few dozen of these, only AMOS, a dozen Archers to go with K9 Thunder and of course a few more M270 MLRS for Finland. And, obviously Excalibur rounds and GLSDB for the M270. In the fiture there mght be some precision rounds for the AMOS too... And drones. And SAMs.
Are you planning to make a speech in the Urals region? (Just a fellow finn asking...)
My guess is AMOS is too heavy/expensive, since it needs heavier and more expensive vehicles to carry the turret (e.g. Patria 8x8) while NEMO can be handled by lighter and cheaper vehicles (such as Patria 6x6).
AMOS
- Max rate: 16 rounds/minute
- Sustained rate: 10 rounds/minute
- MRSI: 10 rounds
- Turret weight: 3.600kg
NEMO
- Max rate: 10 rounds/minute
- Sustained rate: 6 rounds/minute
- MRSI: 5 rounds
- Turret weight: 1.900kg
Patria 8x8
- Weight: 16.000-38.000kg
- Range: 600-1000km
- Max speed on land: 100 km/h
- Max speed on water: 10 km/h
- Price (manufactured in Finland): $5.9 million (Slovakia buys 76 Patria 8x8 for $450 million, price probably includes 30mm cannon)
Patria 6x6
- Weight: 25.000kg
- Range: 700km
- Max speed on land: 100km/h
- Max speed on water: 8 km/h
- Price (licensed manufacturing in Latvia): $1.2 million (Latvia buys 200+ Patria 6x6 for $237 million)
These Amv should have own drone system , also when they arrive ,so on the roof they could send a drone to spionage the enemy position ...and give fire directions!
They do have now, and this AMOS are planted in fast boats (assault-boats) aswell!...!
And combined with XM395 / PGMM this system will be even more accurate but the cost per round will obviously increase with such a tech.
Wow!
The Vikings still come up with the best weaponary. 👌
Insta Steel Eagle aka. "flying Claymore" drone is claimed to have same effect as 6 120 mm grenades. Insane. Works well with the Steel Lynx remote wireless detonated take-off canister with the same explosive.
Put the same MLRS system that M270 has on Patria AMV.
Damn! The fire observer killed the finch with FN MAG...
Could've been a ZANU or ZANLA terrorist.
It's a great system. I hope that it will be adopted by the Japanese Self-Defense Forces.

Could somebody tell me the vehicle platform?
Patria AMV and Patria 6x6
@@hawkstable8889 Patria AMV yes. Patria 6x6 no.
The easiest way to tell the difference between 6x6 and older Pasi vehicles is the windshield. In 6x6 there's one wide windshield where as in the older Pasi there are two separate windshields. The vehicle carrying NEMO was probably Pasi XA203.

You should send couple of these to Ukraina to get some EXP
MLRS? Nope, just AMOS
Trovo la versione 8x8 piu funzionale del cingolato
Great filming. Lose the annoying and loud soundtrack to make it perfect.
Music taste limited to metal? It's okay, you'll grow out of it eventually.
박격포를 직각으로 쏜다고??
yes
Now Ukraine needs such weapons !!!
absolutely YES
So they can lose 20% of them?

They could be of some use to the ukrainians. Just saying…
นี่แหละคือความหายนะของทหารรัสเซียอาวุธชิ้นต่อไป
The only thing these type of videos are missing are soldiers arms torn off blood dripping from there faces and the sight of innocent death.
When KTO Rosomak (Polish for Wolverine) came to Afghanistan, losses among soldiers running in patroling convoys went low. Very low, to zero. IED's and RPG's did not kill any soldier which traveled in Rosomak. Those vehicles instantly went on the front of such convoys. When under heavy attack or in the centre of some serious bomb blast some troopers were injured. One person was seriously injured. But nobody died. Every Rosomak came back to base and was fixed. Fixed to go back to its frontal position in convoys.
KTO Rosomak is the name of the first series of AMV Partia made on license in Poland for Polish soldiers but not only for them.
Thank you, AMV for your Patria.

arent mrls much better than this crap
different purpose…
"better"?
You're welcomed to try to give indirect fire support to ground troops from 50m to 12km with an MRLS...
and mlrs is much more expensive to fire even compared to amos let alone normal mortars so no no its not "better".
game changer ?
it's slow.
and really only usefull against even slower targets, since ot's artillerie.
If you don't know anything don't even speak.
it is fast for an grenade launcher easy and fast to go and destroy enemy positions.
Well 24 mortar rounds in 60 sec, then taking of at a max speed of 100 km/h doesn't scream slow to me. Also with the multiple rounds single impact approach, you can hit the area with 6 simultaneous impacts/vehicle, giving the infantry no advance warning.
NICE!!! Taths wath Ukraine need now ;)
They can't afford those
@@DefinitelyNotEmma russia is paying :D :D :D No problem :D
@@parabellum122 Russia has their own systems similar to those.
You realize that Ukraine is already in massive debt towards several EU states and the US because of the arms supplies, right? They will have to pay that back within the next years.
@@DefinitelyNotEmma Yes, of course it will have to, at the expense of russian tax payers
