Something I've been using is 2 -> 2 -> Jade projectile -> jump -> jumping 2 -> back 2. This seems safe unless they anti air after the jump but no one is going to anti air jade projectile. Most people just try and down 1 out so the jade projectile clips em on the way out giving you a full shao combo.
22 fan toss, shao can get back 2 mid screen too, off command grab, if you hold back for switch side, shao lift the ace higher, making fan lift combo way easier

I found out that if only the 1st (close range) hit of the fan toss connects, it restands, Injustice Flash style. I was able to do it with Geras, not sure if Shao can get the opponent high enough
poke special has to be the most toxic, boring gameplay ever....and thats coming from a raiden main. its so interactive and its wild that people can get combos off of it. the nrs poking system is already broken and ill designed but that takes the cake.

It isnt optimal, but Fan Lift can give you a double air combo if timed correctly. And it looks flashy as all hell.

You can combo off the forward 1 overhead with fan lift which is quite nice!
But you half to do the full string or it will scale really hard
