- Nicolas Claxton had a breakout season for the Brooklyn Nets this season averaging 12.6 PPG 9.2 REB 2.5 BLK. All defense level stuff from him, super fun player and one of my favorites.

very rare. he is not just a good rim protector but also good perimeter defender and also on-ball like what? It's rare for the center to guard on-ball. he really fits on that switching defense version of the nets 😲

Claxton should have made first team all defense, the fact that he didn’t even make second is an absolute joke.
The nets were a mediocre team defensively. They generally reserve those accolades for players on sucessful defenses. OR it has to be a singular defensive force that carries an offensively slanted roster (a la rudy gobert, draymond green in some of their prime years) Can't really argue that the nets are riddled with weak defenders, so you couldn't really form a "he's keeping them afloat" on that side of the ball type of narrative.
Every year there will be elite defenders stuck on bad/mediocre teams who will not get formal recognition, that's just how it goes.
All that is to say, i think he's absolutely deserving of a spot. We could see a top 7-9 defense out of the nets this year, which should be enough for clax to get his flowers.

Nick, Cam J, a healthy Ben, Bridges, and Royce or DFS... That's a defensive juggernaut; don't know how the offense is going to work, but I'd say the other team would have a hard time scoring on the at team.
I think he can take it all the way on a fastbreak like giannis but he chooses to give it to the pg everytime
