  • J&J are saying goodbye to 2023 with today’s Sunday Special and, from Oxford’s acknowledgment of “rizz” to Taylor Swift’s TIME honor, they’re starting off with big moments of this year. Next, they discuss dating predictions for the new year before diving in to the advice email. Our listener told her BF that she wants to be engaged by the time she turns 30, but now that the year has arrived, she’s not sure she’s ready after all. How does she talk to her SO about it without setting off alarms about second thoughts? J&J talk through the situation, the anxiety she’s experiencing, and how she should talk to her boyfriend.

Happy New Year! Thank you for helping me navigate date. I'm a lot older than you two but your advice is universal.

Great final episode. Happy New Year, you guys! But I have to say that phone calls prior to dates are in everyone's best interests. You forget that the most dangerous thing a woman can do is go on a date so if you Facetime or have a phone call beforehand, you have a better idea of who the person is - and if they're catfishing you or not! Also you don't know someone's vibes from texting them. Texting is just words - every time you get a text from them, you're projecting who you think that person is.
I used to spend so much time texting with someone only to have zero conversational chemistry with them in person. Please, please talk to people over the phone or better yet, Facetime, before you waste your time meeting in person.
And yay for sober dates. They're the best.

Your take on rizz is the most boomer thing that has ever reached my ear holes on this podcast. Rizz isn’t even the same as charisma, it’s when someone uses their charisma to “beat the odds” like when a guy that’s not that attractive walks up to a girl who’s clearly not into him and changes her mind because the way he talks is attractive. I just want you to know so you don’t alienate my gen z kind by hating on our perfectly good new words

      That's....literally the definition of Charisma

The word "like" is your generations word. It was used this episode no less than 107 times.

I was noticing how many times the word was being used . My mother used to say it was the sign of someone stupid.

Jordana shits on Taylor Swift, one of the greatest lyricists of our time, yet she can’t form a single sentence without the word “like”.

I don’t understand Jordana’s constant shitting on Taylor Swift. You say way more lame gen z things than she ever has or did in that interview.
