First Emperor song I ever heard, immediately fell in love with them, 17 years later still my favourite band of all time.
Cool: they are playing faster the fast parts than the album, so it's even harder. Badass!

Like the tide, shadows flow towards the shore of light.
The night comes whirling like a maelstrom.
Warring waves of crackling clouds embrace this nightside landscape.
The heavens bleed, through open wounds, the dim light of the Moon.
The winds are crying mournfully and tears fly with the gusts.
They whip my clenched faces freezing skin with ice-cold burning cuts.
Too long I have suffered the desert sands of time.
But as I drown in darkness it will release the sign.
My soul will leave this mortal coil of flesh and earthly life,

Is this overrated? Then what would you say to such bands: Watain, Nargaroth, Carach Angren, Taake, Dark Funeral, Satanic Warmaster, Sargeist or dissonant black-post black metal metal "pioneers", etc.?
Do not get me wrong, of these, I like some of the songs of some bands or even albums, but none of these bands can come anywhere in the Emperor's musicality.
Emperor are extremely underrated in my opinion, don't get half as much recognition as they should, this song is a a masterpiece
Doedskvad era Taake blows anything Emperor put out out during their career out of the water. Not saying Emperor is shit, Ihsahn probably eats guitar for his breakfast but imo Taake is the better band for me.
@@rigolith Noway :) Not because of complexity. The whole atmosphere of the Emperor (especially the first two albums) is above the music of Taake

The bass drum is a bit too loud for me
They absolutely delievered this song at this year Brutal Assault. Honestly, it was far better than this version. Why they decided to speed it up? Then is no more Majesty, is just a Nightsky.
When a song is as good as this, it's even better when you have multiple versions to enjoy.
For example, With Strength I Burn has 3 incredible versions that all have a different tempo:
1) Emperial Live Ceremony, 2000 (1999), blistering fast version.
2) Wacken 2006 (2009 dvd), standard live version.
3) Night of Emperial Wrath 2021, slow version, about a minute slower than 1999/2000.
Excellent to enjoy all three of these, as they each provide a different feel.
