My thoughts on the Samsung Galaxy A15 5G after two months of use. I'm really surprised by the mix of performance and value. It gets the job done, even with gaming, for $200. When you add in the stellar OLED display, you really have a winner, especially if you can pick one up on a carrier deal.

it truly is amazing how far budget phones have come, great video. To not be locked into a multi year payment plan or shell out a ton for a phone I'm honestly considering buying one of these new unlocked. The older Dimensity 700 in the A13 5g, A14 5G and A32 5G fly in normal irl usage especially with the animation settings and stuff set to 0.5x speed in the android dev options. If this newer Dimensity cpu is even better then I'm definitely set. I don't do a ton these days that's very demanding on my phone in my mid 30s now, browse social media, browse online, text/IM, occasional call, occasional cat pic, watch youtube. Headphone jack and sd card are a major plus in my eyes too. My iPhone SE 2020 is very ailing, and I never found it immersive for media with the smaller screen anyway and pretty cramped to type on as a grown man. These budget samsungs the past few years getting multi year support plans is amazing too, I remember when budget prepaid androids didn't get any at all or a very very paltry update cycle. I'd pay the bit more money for this over the Moto G Play 2024 just for the update support alone. Beautiful kitty wallpaper btw, I love torties :)

Great, great video in every respect! I've always felt the key to deciding on which type of device to own, whether it be a particular OS (Apple or Android) or brand (Google Pixel, Samsung, Motorola, etc...) is to jot down EXACTLY what you NEED AND WANT in a smartphone and to NOT get caught up in certain brands that saturate the market with million-dollar advertisements or friends who brag about how they just got the brand new $1,600.00 phone! I know people like those personally who go out and spend top dollars on flagship devices and all they do is call, text and surf the Internet! They neither USE and/or DON'T KNOW any of those alleged 'features' and 'extras' that their phones have which cause those ridiculous costs! I sincerely believe 90% of consumers out there would be totally satisfied with a good mid-range device (most any phone $500.00 and under) but their mentality is "I gotta get the highest price phone or it's not gonna work for me"! Decide on what it is you (mostly) need and do your own research online - you will definitely find a great phone for a wallet-friendly price!

what's really sad is how having the latest and greatest expensive phone has become a fashion symbol for many. I've seen first hand people have the latest phones but didn't have a vehicle nor anything in their house to eat, it's ridiculous. Keeping up with the Jone's is an endless money pit and very bad mentality. I've gotten higher end specced phones on amazing deals for years, cheaper than budget phones go for, but with LG out of the phone game and even the several year old iphone 12 series being way more than I care to pay for, I started looking up budget stuff since my iphone SE 2020 is going to need to be replaced sooner rather than later. I spent time watching, reading, and even trying out modern budget phones in person, and I must say, even the dimensity 700 in the older A13 5G, A14 5G, and A32 5G I personally used FLEW in normal usage with the animation and other settings set to 0.5x in the android dev options. Many years ago I was a budget phone connoisseur, and they got the job done even as of 2016+, just with some jank. Weekly or bi weekly cache cleanings, SD maid runs, greenify usage, and restarting made a world of difference. The dimensity 700 in some of these budget phones is just a tiny hair below the old flagship galaxy s9 and is great in irl usage, my sister uses an A32 5G. Hell, when considering the cost of the monthly unlimited plan they offer, a tracfone pixel 6a for ~$270 on QVC that comes with a year of service is essentially free, and their galaxy a54 5g comes out to costing only like ~$60ish since it comes with a year's worth of unlimited plan.

I once had a mid range tablet. Sure it played videos fine, my old android box with lollipop streams well and opens apps quick enough. What I had problems with was browsing websites and google ads loading and refreshing. Those pages are the longest to load, which is why I went to Samsung S8 tablet in 2022. Loading pages full of ads is where flagships show their power. My phones are S series. Browsing the internet with pop up chats, pop up videos, refreshing is why I pay extra for my phones. Budget phones freeze up too much while loading the spam.

Budget phones have massively improved in the last 5 years or so. If you went for say an A35 it would handle those webpages you mentioned no problem. The only people who need flagships are hardcore mobile gamers and perfectionist photographers or people who like to use Samsung Dex.

You could do that all day long, "buy X phone instead" But people aren't walking into their carrier store and getting a deal on a Pixel 6 right now, they are harder to find new, people don't always want a new or renewed device. We handle the devices as they come in...you could get bogged down all day in every phone ever. Don't get a Pixel 6, get a Galaxy S22, etc, etc.

Base on my experience ( using the 4G Ram +128G ) this phone is sucks. It's okay for an average users. But not recommended. My A13 5G perform better beside having an lcd display.
    *Cameras not great
    *internet/Wi-Fi range is not stable
    * can't ruin pubg mobile like my A13 5G does smoothly
    *Using more Ram than required
    * can't edit video without freezing for long periods.
    * the notch camera cutout isn't that necessarily.
Overall I'm not regrets it since I only pay $40 for a smartphone with an Amoled display

I think your expectations for a $200 device are a little unrealistic. And I'm able to run Genshin just fine, so maybe it's a Pubg thing, but budget phone buyers aren't necessarily looking for gaming performance out of their device. Internet and Wifi has been fine, maybe you got a bad one. Are you using the 4G or 5G model?

    • @LenstskyYT
      @LenstskyYT Před 2 měsíci +1

Or maybe my 5g model is a bad like you just said.

Ive read that quite often now from A15 (5g) users. How can that be the case it has Android ONE (if Iam right) and of course it does not come with a highend SoC since its a low budget phone. My neighbour owns a Redmi Note 12 which is even cheaper and has similar performance and this phone runs pretty well for a couple weeks now without any issues. Minor stutters here and there, sure but the overall daily performance is great. For everyday usage of consuming social media, do browsing and stuff I would just be able to really see the big difference by directly comparing it to a way faster phone.

    • @gio235rulez

The A15 is currently running Android 14 (not Android One). I recently purchased this phone for my older brother as a temporary device (currently got it on a promo through Google Fi) since he was experiencing call/text issues on his OnePlus 7T. Figured this would get the job done for him as his primary, but I've seen first hand the stutters/lag he encounters when doing some of the most basic things. I understand that his OnePlus was a better device overall, but figured this phone wouldn't give him much hassle.
I've tried different tips and tricks I've come across CZcams + Reddit. What really helped is switching to a third party launcher (i.e., Nova), turning down the animation scales to x0.5, lowering RAM Plus to 2GB (or turning it off altogether), and keeping some apps to unoptimized. Only real issue aside from apps loading is the notification shade stuttering when expanding to view it. @@Dampfheini

@@StevealiciousTech I don't think that there is a big compromise. While the CPU and battery performance remain consistent across both options, the Chinese phone takes the lead with its superior charging speed, While the camera quality may fall short of Samsung's standards, both devices offer functional main cameras. Samsung boasts an additional two years of software updates, yet given the performance of these devices, a three-year lifespan should suffice for most users. While the Samsung device may not cater perfectly to US users, it's essential to acknowledge the global market beyond just one country.
