great video
Thank you for explaining this well. As an applicant ( RN) this makes sense.
Thank you!
Wow, you guys explained that very well! Thank you
Thank you so much Jose!
Great description and clarification
Thank you Maria!
Awesome! This really helped clarify… now to understand how these are funded on the insurance side.
Thank you so much for your comment! I think this video with Teresa can help answer your question: czcams.com/video/A3yPXj3rrpY/video.html
Really enjoy the way Teresa articulates her experience! I'm still confused a bit, but I'm sure the terminology can get very convoluted in this industry. Are Sub/Post acute essentially the same thing? Unless an Acute Rehab facility may also offer Sub-Acute services, I can't see any other differences? Also, LTAC - that operates as a hospital, would that still fall under the Nursing Home category or is that an exception and stays classified as a Hospital?
Thank you for these good and thoughtful questions. I pasted below some answers straight from Theresa.
Sub/Post Acute care are the same, just different ways of saying it-
Ltac- Long-term Acute Care facility is for after a patient leaves the hospital. It is for a patient with complex medical needs, who need rehabilitation and ongoing skilled nursing care. This is considered under the same benefit as a hospital stay.
Post Acute - focus on rehabilitation- there is a separate benefit for Post Acute Care
Very informative. Thank you.
Thank you for your comment!
Is LTAC good or not? After tracheostomy the icu team want to send my dad there…. I’m just so confused and not finding enough information about it
Apologies for the late reply. I suggest that you find a reputable GCM (Geriatric Care Manager) who can help you make the right decisions (or who can point you in the right direction). Wishing your dad the best outcome.
