Weakest Link (Australia) - First Group With $10,000 Round

- This is an episode of the Channel 7 network (Australia) version of The Weakest Link from circa 2001. It features Adam in his TV debut :)
This was the first group to get a round worth $10,000 (in the Aussie version at least.).
I believe that their total prize money was the second highest total achieved on the Aussie version.
I deliberately left the old adverts in for nostalgia purposes. - Zábava
As an American that enjoys learning about other countries history and culture it’s very intriguing to watch all these Australian commercials 😂 👍🏼
me too... i think it's the only time i actually wanted to see them and not fast forward haha x
Agreed. Before this the only "Australian" commercials I had seen were for Foster's and for Outback.
As an Indian, I'm aghast that any American would admit to learning about the "other countries and cultures through advertisements"
OMGEEEE!
@@zoyarajennursingh949 Excellent point.
@@zoyarajennursingh949 If you would have actually read my comment properly you would have noticed i never specifically said i like to learn about other countries by watching commercials i said it intrigues me to watch them . Your Comprehension is questionable 😂😂
RIP Cornelia Frances.

elucidate exactly and if the uk one came back but they need a different host then I’ll do exactly what Cornelia does
@@MrnintendoSEGAfan1our uk version did come back BUT only with celebrities. Romesh Ranganathan is the presenter
RIP Cornelia (7 April 1941 - 28 May 2018)
You were a great villainous host, Cornelia Frances. Rest in peace.
I will definitely miss her
Even here in South Africa, the host Fiona Coyne has passed on. May both their souls RIP.
I didnt know she was sick
She was 45 years old and she has committed suicide in 2010
@@thebrummierailenthusiasts5329 she absolutely did not
If anybody just wants to see where they bank the max, it's during the second round at 14:27 when they bank it. I suggest starting at the beginning of the second round. It's at 12:14. Just thought some people would like to know this.
Thank you so much! I'm really impressed when team hits the target prize. Their strategy may be inefficient, but a round that requires a chain of 9 correct answers is miles harder than versions that only requires a chain of 6 correct answers as giving the wrong answer would cost them too much.
RIP Cornelia Frances. I came here to use this video as a tribute to you.
These questions are so easy. It's like round 1 of the UK version every time a link leaves. How they didn't reach the target is beyond me.
I think Anne Robinson and Cornelia Frances are both great hosts and do the show credit. Interestingly both were born in Liverpool in the UK.
+William Brougham although Cornelia hardly appears as Morag Bellingham in Home and Away anymore.
Cornelia is too good for home and away nowadays!
+MrsLukeArnold Unfortunately Cornelia passed away months ago :'(
@@cutemimi25 I didn't know she was english
In France the show was exactly the same, it's incredible: we had indeed our good Laurence Boccolini as the host
So many of these questions are so easy! I wish I was there...
actually enjoyed watching the adds from all those years back XD
Cornelia Frances passed away today. Had to come back and revisit this show again.
Really mate
I used to watch the UK version and the only issue (in my opinion) was the fact the prize money was so low - looks like the Aussies has the right idea!!
Finally, a full episode of The Weakest Link Australia!
The being voted off process is so brutal to watch, I just want to hug the person each time haha
@@TKFTGuillotine yes... australian Version is more human 😅
I myself would only feel bad for the person if they were a strongest link, or if the team reached and banked their target within the time limit. In that instance, how could there be a weakest link after a perfect round?
Love these old ads haha a bit of nostalgia
I agree
Exactly
They had A PERFECT CHAIN of 9 Correct Answers in ROUND 7 & could've won the full $10,000
RIP Cornelia Frances! A huge loss to Australian TV with the loss of an icon.
Although she was born in same country as Anne Robinson and grew up there as well
@@dabin88she and Anne were born in Lancashire from April 7th 1941 and September 26th 3 years later
Thank you Kevin Wilson your songs helped me get a few of these questions right
This must have been a VERY early episode of The Weakest Link.
Jacob returned for the 'Best of The Best' edition & Brett returned for the 'Worst Looser' edition.
They began editing the theme tune early on in this series too. If you listen closely, it's shorter than the original used in the UK version of The Weakest Link.
I'm not sure but I believe that the only reason why there are two sets of stairs behind the team with no seats for an audience must mean that Channel 7 ran out of time to complete the set.
The original 'Bank Target' sound was used in this episode. In other episodes, the 'Time Up' sting is used instead. They also did not light the ring above the set up in lights when the team banked the target like they have in later episodes.
I had all but the Pilot Episode of Series One & the entire Series Two on VHS when I was younger, even recording repeats. I wish I had kept them now...I had all the Special Editions. I still remember the final episode which aired Monday April 22nd, 2002. I was devastated...
Also very similar to what they do on the Chaser's Final Chase on The Chase Australia. Instead of the 'caught' theme from the individual chase (and as a matter of fact the Final Chase on the UK version), once the Chaser reaches the target the "time's up" and "victory" sounds are used instead as if the team won.
Jacob would later go on The Chase Australia and face Brydon (who also won The Weakest Link!). He got to the final but Brydon won easily
@@staffordahoy679 Brydon actually lost to Simon in his episode.
Rip Cornelia Francis I liked our version even though she was no Anne Robinson she brought some charm to this show I was sad after like one or 2 seasons of the weakest link they cancelled it I liked this show :)
It was great seeing Janice make it to the final round, the “older constants” usually get voted out 1st or 2nd
WOW SPOILERS XD
Love the old ads. Brings back memories!
Lol, I entered one of the quiz groups to try to get on his show :). Only got two questions wrong, so got close to get past the first stage. Was like 30 questions to answer on paper.
Omg this show was the best. I was disappointed they cancelled because my dad was selected to be on it just before it finished. Cornelia Frances was really good and entertaining. Made my night
OMG this is 20 years old. I love the ads back then too. RIP Cornelia Frances.
If I still had all my VHS recordings of Australia's Weakest Link, I would have uploaded an episode where a contestant threw their voting board across the set! Another episode had a contestant singing at Cornelia as she took The Walk of Shame.
There was also another furious contestant that slammed their voting board down onto the podium as he was about to take The Walk of Shame & another female was annoyed so she just dropped her voting board on the floor.
RIP Cornelia Frances. Best quiz show host ever. :-( :-(
Remember her from Home and away
All hosts of this show in Australia (Cornelia Frances), UK (Anne Robinson) and South Africa (Fiona Coyne) had one thing common; Red Heads.
Unfortunately Cornelia and Fiona have since passed on. RIP
RIP Cornelia
good old primary school days. When tv used to be cool
wow, back at those days, we definitely look like our actual age! Now days we look like more than 5-10 years younger than our actual age.
I find I look older than I actually am.
rip Cornelia frances 😭
who is there in 2k19?
Her last picture of her with the moo cow toy, touched my heart. Sad yes
30:24 THE MOLE!!! Hell yeah! That show was awesome.
Wow, that team did better than any team on the U.S. version and all but one team on the UK version (the quiz champions team being the exception). Most of it is that ALL of the questions on this version are easy and there were no hard ones thrown in to minimize the risk of multiple perfect rounds like there were on the US and UK versions.
RIP Cornelia Frances
HSimon1981 You don’t have to rub it in.
bluetennant1998 wtf? He's honouring her. Have you never heard someone say 'rest in peace' before?
Aye, gone too soon.
When did she die?
@@bentheswitchsportsfan06 she died 2 years ago
I loved this show, sale of the century & shafted at the time. I was around 6-7 years old back in 2001
If you compare Cornelia to Anne in terms of how they look in appearance, they look very much like each other.
Short red hair
Glasses
Black outfits
I think that’s the point of the show that presenters would look alike
And both ladies came from the same city!
That means Liverpool where they are from
I remembered The Weakest Link back in 2001 and ended in 2002.
That's so weird, just before I watched this about an hour ago, I looked up Cornelia and it said that she was born on 7th April 1941, and today is 7th April 2021 in the UK, meaning that she would've been 80 today if she was still alive.
Am I the only one who thinks they all did good ?
That's quiet a resonable amount of money.
Well. They did well.
I lovvvvvvved this show!
I'm not Australian but I'm here anyway
I'm confused on how banking and breaking a chain and you can continue to guess makes you the strongest link.
The way she smiles at the end of each episode, is it supposed to be a genuine smile or an evil smile?
Better than England show. Less insults and more intelligent people. Handsome prize money too.
If this was aired in Perth, who presented the news update at the end? Rick Ardon or Susannah Carr?
Both Weakest Link and Dog Eat Dog did their best to be hits in Australia as they were in Britain. The next BBC game show that should come to Australia would have to be Pointless because like with the other two, it has been exported to other countries and Australia would definitely be a good one to bring that show to. Those three are pretty much the only BBC shows since 2000 that have been exported to other countries around the world.
There was an Australian version of Pointless but it was a flop.
Jacob appears on the Strongest Links special and makes it to the final round. Unfortunately it's unknown if he won. The episode's on CZcams but cuts out near the end.
He did
This host is exactly correct. You are not supposed to look at whom anyone else is voting for.
R.I.P. Cornelia Frances
She looks like Ann Robinson
I wonder how many people realize that "Goodbye" is short for "God be with you." Think about it for a moment. "You are the Weakest Link. God be with you". Doesn't sound as nasty does it?
Lmao; never thought of it that way. I believe in the Arab World version they actually do say that exact phrase “God be with you” in Arabic.
thanks for the upload!! nice to see a full episode for once (and not the mole special) lol
28:40-28:55 Adam survived the pervious 2 vote-offs, but didn't remain undetected in this one & it was Rina who was THE WEAKEST LINK
The questions are really really easy compared with other iterations.
Im vision impaired. What colour is the little indicator light that moves up and down and tells you how much a question is worth and also the digits on the countdown clock?
Blue
There's only ever one Anne Robinson.
I’m watching this in February 2020… Very interesting to see Australian version of this show… Australian accents are much easier to understand than Americans… Only criticism is far too many adverts… However many thanks for posting
Does the weakest link usually have a live audience?
omg... lol... was thinking... "well...she's way over on the other side, and it's wasting so much time for You to turn to ask the questions..." when they bumped Rina...
This aired on Monday March 26th, 2001. (15th episode)
Gezz,Cornelia had flair and sass.
It was sad she passed a few yes ago.
44:30 Does anyone know the name of this announcer? He used to do announcements on Nickelodeon in the 2000s.
Man I miss the old Channel 7
I love how Cornelia ends the show! "Join me on Thursday for The Weakest Link.... Goodbye" :)
Wow! She's an especially stoic hostess, even when the team reaches the target!
The Australian version sadly has too many ads. :(
The host of the Australian version is Cornelia Frances
+Joseph Ragsdale I've always wondered who hosts the Australian version of The Weakest Link but thanks to you now I know.
+Ruth Barron yw
+Joseph Ragsdale What does that mean?
+Ruth Barron Youre Welcome
yepppp
In this episode of Temptation from 2005, there was a contestant called Phil. I’m 90% sure he was also on an episode of The Weakest Link in mid to late 2001. czcams.com/video/IAAGpZLkSdA/video.html
Haha. Robert was my Teacher back then at Blackburn high, the next day was funny.
@KMac He said for the 10th time today the show is a crock of shit, the smartest person doesnt win. Very sour.
Oh my god, it's Morag Bellingham!
The presenter of that version is cornelia francis and i like her speech for goodbye
The late host was as good as the UK original show with Ann Robinson. Well done Australia.
Quite strong team indeed
I remember that Mainland ad XD
I like cornileas speech for goodbye. Its nearly louder than anne robinsons
Wow 56,300 out of possible 100,000.
56% of total prize is the best i know so far.
If you know other great performances lemme know! :)
$76,900 was won on an Australian episode called 'Best of The Best' Edition
Wow that's SUPERB performance!
Tomek FM £7,750 out of £10,000, quiz show champions edition, and the only UK episode when the £1000 target was reached in round 8 (and then trebled to make £3000)
I’m using a different account now
this is one of the best teams ive seen on any weakest link $56,000 dollars is over half the prize money i find the host harsh even when they get a good amount at the end of the round she is still unhappy with them unless they get the target and i thought Anne was harsh amazing show
MORAG!
How does answering correctly but not banking any money make you the weakest link? I thought the idea was to create a chain, so you don't want to necessarily bank every time its your turn.
Cornelia Francis isn't nearly as scary as I thought she was. Watching Prisoner CBH reruns recently and saw Cornelia play a lawyer. She was absolutely sunningly beautiful and very regal looking. Her acting was excellent.
Besides her most known role as Morag in earlier episodes of Home & Away, Cornelia has also appeared in The Young Doctors and had a guest role in Kingswood Country as Dr. Hemmingway - she hits Ted Bullpitt on the head with a (reflex testing) hammer in one scene - he asks "what was that for?" she replies "that Mr. Bullpitt was for free!" - along with her other acting roles as well as host of the short-lived Aussie Weakest Link - she will be missed. R.I.P.
I'm sorry, but this is not a perfect round. a perfect round is when they answer 9 in a row correct and then bank the target.
I have got to agree with you, girl.
I think it's the closest they ever got to that in this version. In the later years of the UK version, they made the questions in round 1 joke questions like the questions to the £1000/$1000 in Who Wants to be a Millionaire so the target was banked in almost every episode at that point.
Of course not. Watch this video:
czcams.com/video/cR2hpFa2Qcs/video.html
I work in IT and I have never heard that word being used for the physical space taken up by a computer.
So does Adam!
They had A PERFECT CHAIN of 9 Correct Answers in Round 1!
Early banks are a killer...

Correct.
In Australia and USA were bigger prizes than in Finland. Few years ago Finland decided to rerun the show.
The commercials really make it
In round 2 they coulda banked 10k without doing it in bits.
New Season is coming back to Channel 9 soon
15:15-15:35 Looks like Brett ended up drawing attention towards the end of the round, luckily for Adam not 1 person voted for him!

It would have been better if the host talked to each person like Anne did on the UK version. She would talk to a particular player for about 1-2 minutes at the end of each round. The banter was the best part of the show.
The banter wasn't around in the first 2 years of the UK show, it only really came into place in 2003
+hakc97again True. And what's with the winner walking away with $56,000?! In the UK version, the winning contestant would typically win around 5,000 pounds.
Youcanonacanon I guess that the networks could afford to give bigger cash prizes. Daytime quizzes in the UK have never really given away large amounts of money
+Youcanonacanon where my friend lives in bosnia if you win £10,000 that's 50,000 KM
It's because The Weakest Link is on the BBC which is funded by license payers money so it can't afford to shell it a huge cash prize unlike ITV which is commercial and therefore can pump more money into their entertainment shows. In fact back in 2000, when the show went out on prime-time for a £20,000 top prize it was considered controversial that they were giving out that much.
Rest in peace Cornelia Frances.
The one thing I never really hear her say is: "Well, it was _________ who was the weakest link statistically, but it's the votes that count."
A very strong Final 3.
Look out for the Mole's name in the closing credits.
Did anyone ever see the episode with all lifeguards? I caught it on television one day but cannot even seem to find ANYTHING about it on Google. I swear it was epic. They didn't bank a single dollar the entire show. It really was that bad. I would love to watch it again but it seems like a dream considering I can't even find a single thing about the episode online. It wasn't the Baywatch episode. It was all real lifeguards and boy did they pick the correct profession because none of them were going to be teachers.
I recorded every episode from episode 2 onwards. I no longer have any of them however, the lifeguard episode does ring a bell.
I wish I still had them. They would be very popular on CZcams! Especially the episodes where contestants threw tantrums, threw their voting boards across the set, danced & sang during The Walk of Shame etc.
We really had the BEST contestants in Australia!
Not to mention the BEST host, Cornelia. May she Rest in Peace.
@@DanielA-jw5jq man whata shame. I would love to see all you Aussies getting upset as well as having a fun time.
