    I've always wanted a Duo figure as well lol. As an X fan, I've also been pretty disappointed with the lack variety, it's always plain X or the First Armor and a color variant, and they usually can never get the Face quite right, just throw on general anime eyes with a stiff smirk lol.

    Exactly on point. I completely agree. Started collecting Jada Toys, and not gonna lie, when I saw that green Mega Man with a bomb it felt like such a huge bummer to me.
    I mean... I just want a Mega Man, the blue one we all know, and the Robot Masters (the way we know them, of course). I really, really think that's not so hard to guess/assume (for Jada). Not a rocket science to figure that out.
    Still, I could _somehow_ understand if they also included the "side" characters you mentioned (Light, Wily, Cossack, Mr.X, Proto, Bass, Auto, Roll, Mega Man without a helmet etc), and wouldn't be against it, but still I'd be perfectly fine if it was only the characters from _actual_ games (I mean from its playable parts, excuding intro/cut/ending scenes, promo materials etc), but getting an endless amount of Mega Man repaints (in a mainline and not as exclusives, as you said)... honestly, that just makes me pissed.

      Repaints of mega man will always out sell the deep cuts it’s why Jakks pacific keeps putting out sonic and Mario a million times. If you want the line to go deep you should be happy about repaints without them the line will inevitably die. You just have to be patient and hope people actually support the line.

    For someone like myself whom actively collected Megaman merchandise going all the way back to the Jazware toy line, I honestly agree that making variants of the same character can be rather annoying, especially when there's little to no differences in each line. At least back when Jazware was making Megaman toys that actually had a vast line of different characters like the Robot Masters and various types of toys based on the different Megaman games, mostly Classic Megaman and Megaman X considering that Megaman Battle Network / NT Warrior wasn't out yet. Mattel was responsible for everything related to the NT Warrior toy line, I remember really getting excited whenever I came across anything I hadn't bought yet. The only downside was that Megaman.exe was the center of pretty much all the toys and the variants was like no other at the time, the Double Soul line had about 10 different toys that were just Megaman with a different changeable parts that represented the look of a certain Navi in the show/game. There were some toys that weren't only Megaman, we got some Navi's like Torchman, Searchman, and Gutsman but they were far and few, the center focus was just Megaman.

    Excellent review on theine and I totally get your point! I also would like to express that the best way to sell this line is to stay with the robot masters but each wave must have a mayor/main character to push the wave. As I see it, the next wave is going to have a MegaMan variant, but that main spot could easily been taken by Protoman. The not helmeted MegaMan is a nice addition, and I hope it comes with more accessories to compensate the reuse of the entire body. It would be awesome to have a pet pack with Rush, Beat and another Met, but I think I'm asking for a lot here. Still, I am so into this line and I with it the best, I'm gonna try to buy each release, but only time will tell how long is Jada going to hold this franchise and if they're going to give us a true MegaMan toy line

    Wonderful points made throughout, as much as I appreciate the X, Zero, Legends, ZX and BN series and all that, I really hope they stick to the classic series. At least for an actual figure of Super Bass or Pharoah Man 😭
    I was also hoping they would give their own spin on the designs of Rock when he took the RM's powers like how 11 did, but oh well. Great vid overall! 👍

    Really cool video since i am just starting out to collect figures Mega man is one of my big targets but i am so sad so many characters are left out like i understand Mega man is easy to make since just change color and you are done but at least make the different versions of him that have new armor or look and maybe a bit more love for Mavericks like i would kill for a figure of the Black Devil.

    Even if it would be better for the line to be more focused, I still hope for them to branch out into other Mega Man series because a lot of the figures/kits for X and Battle Network Are really expensive for me. Something in the 20-30$ range for those series would be much appreciated

  • @weewoo695
    @weewoo695 Před 5 měsíci +1

    i like what Jada is doing for the most part. each wave is 2 robot masters and 1 variant of megaman which is fair honestly. 2 robot masters per wave is good and 1 megaman is also good bc it would be weird to have a megaman toyline without a megaman always on shelves right? plus this will mean there will always be more robot masters than megaman variants.
    i wouldn't mind jada branching out into other series's every now and again. like maybe for one wave they'll just replace megaman with X for once. the X and Classic series are so intertwined already so having some reploids in this new toyline is kind of a no-brainer as they have similar styles and blend with each other nicely.
    as for zero ZX legends and the alternate timeline they can work as exclusives for the diehard fans. my ideal model would be to just do the classic series mainly but sprinkle other series' in there too every once in a while bc they need love too

    I have collected Mega Man figures since the Ruby Spears cartoon figures were new and in stores - I still have the Rush from those toys. I have many different styles and brands of Mega Man figures. But they are nearly ALL of Mega Man. I love that Jada is doing the Robot Masters - and I picked up all 3 of the first wave.
    I, personally, DO want the various colors and weapons for Mega Man, and can understand that the way they are releasing them (2 Robot Masters + 1 Mega Man per wave) is likely a way to ensure that each wave remains profitable.
    I haven't seen them in physical stores yet, so I haven't seen how cases break down - but I would not be surprised if Mega Man was 2x more per case than the Robot Masters - making them in fewer quantities out of fear less people would pick them up.
    I do know they mentioned they were not sure how long the line would last - and would ultimately depend on how much support it got; so I am buying them all every wave in hopes we get them all!

    • @FancifulDancingStar
      @FancifulDancingStar  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Oh, ya, I do understand that there's a lot of uncertainty from them regarding this line. And I'm not actually vehemetly opposed to Mega Man repaints/variants, despite how vocal I was in speaking about them being overabundant in these toylines, but I've also noticed that Mega Man toylines have often not had very long lifespans (and your mentioning that Jada aren't sure how long this line will last kinda just adds more concern that this line will be short-lived like so many other MM lines before it). There could be, of course, MANY factors contributing to all those lines not lasting for too long we're not aware of, though I've noticed these two thing (branching into many series and having a lot of repaints/variants of Mega Man himself) are extremely common among nearly all Mega Man toylines, regardless of which company is making them. And the fact that Funko's line ONLY lasted for ONE wave AND that wave had 4 different colors of the same Mega Man figure... well, it's easy to come to something of a conclusion with that. ^^;
      And yeah, despite my whining, I'm actually buying all the figures, too, repaints/variants included, and I actually DO want those figures, but I just lament the possibility of being overflooded with a bunch of different versions of Mega Man (for the concerns I already mentioned). Though, like you, I also haven't seen these (or any of the Street Fighter figures, for that matter) in ANY physical store at all. Because of that, it's hard to say how many of each figure there is per case.

  • @kiramedifoundfaker398
    @kiramedifoundfaker398 Před 4 měsíci +3

    Unfortunately there does always need to be a "Wave Seller" in each, well, wave, if you look at something like Jakks pacific's Sonic line, there's always a Sonic in every wave. Even when we get deep cut character's like Mephiles, there's always a form of Sonic along side it. A Mega Man line could have tons of deep cuts, but there's inevitably going to be a Mega Man, Proto, Bass, X, Zero, Axl, Geo, Lan, etc. it's just how you use those repeats that counts, things like helmetless Rock, or a MM11 variant, are good repeats, because they offer something genuinely new. While repaints, generally don't offer a lot.

    • @FancifulDancingStar
      @FancifulDancingStar  Před 4 měsíci

      You do bring up a good point. And I have noticed that Jakks Pacific's Sonic and Mario lines always have a Sonic and Mario in each wave. Though, I also notice that the waves have more than just 3 figures, and seem to come out a little more frequently. Not to mention the massive abundance of them on store shelves (to this day, the ONLY Jada stuff I've ever seen in brick and mortar stores is just their cars and their small aluminum figurines). Granted, I also realize that Jada is a bit of a smaller company compared to Jakks Pacific, so that could be a big reason for both the amount of figures in a wave, as well as their distribution.
      Anywho, I'm not actually vehemetly opposed to Mega Man repaints/variants, despite how vocal I was in speaking about them being overabundant in these toylines, but I've also noticed that Mega Man toylines have often not had very long lifespans. There could be, of course, MANY factors contributing to that that we're not aware of, though I've noticed these two thing (branching into many series and having a lot of repaints/variants of Mega Man himself) are extremely common among nearly all Mega Man toylines, regardless of which company is making them. Still, helmetless Mega Man, MM11 Mega Man, Rock in casual clothing, and Copy Mega Man (which is actually a different character but still kinda counts) would definitely be more interesting than straight repaints, but I do get the appeal of repaints due to the different boss weapons and such.
      I suppose I could bring attention to how Ryu isn't in every single wave of Jada's Street Fighter line while being the main character of the series, though I suppose that COULD be because every character in the line is a playable character, whereas with Mega Man it's typically just Mega Man that's been playable (with only a very small handful of games having others, such as Proto Man, Roll, and Bass as playable). I think my main thing is that I'd prefer repaints/variants of Mega Man to be set apart from the waves, and if a wave needs a "wave seller", they could use another popular character. However, if Mega Man's presence himself is a big requirement, it could also be possibly to simply have a small re-release run of his wave 1 figure every 3 waves or so. But, I dunno... I'm not a toy manufacturer and I'm not privy to all the specifics that go on behind the scenes, so I can really only speak as a consumer with my own biased wants.
      Whatever the case, it'll be interesting to see what the takeaway Jada (and Juhn) have from both the sales and the consumer feedback, now that the first wave is finally out and people have gotten these figures in hand.

    I just watched the preview night tour of Jada's booth, and I'm curious to see who the Robot Masters for Wave 4 are. One thing that's brilliant on Jada's part (and terrible for my wallet) is packing in a little stage minion with the alternate Mega Mans. Cause while I will happily skip Hyper Bomb Mega Man... I'm gonna pick up helmetless Mega Man and Gemini Laser Mega Man just for the pack-ins.
    But man do I want them to just finish a roster of Robot Masters instead of hopping all over the place.

    They make Snake Man, Skull Man, Pharoah Man and Plant Man and I'll be happy. The designs and articulation are PERFECT.
    I bet you come Sdcc24 they announce either Rush, ProtoMan or Wily for waves 4 or 5. My money is on another colored MM for wave 4 and Proto Man to start wave 5 which should be dipping into MM3. I Also expect Metal Man and eithe Top Man or Air Man for wave 4. 5 should have Snake Man guaranteed.

    Jhun seems like a pretty reasonable guy and if the robot masters sold really well or even out sold the mega man figures then I’m sure they would switch their priorities. But the reality is robot masters are always gonna do worse then mega man himself or street fighter characters they just aren’t as popular in general. Hopefully they do good enough combined with the mega man repaints that the line can continue but I don’t think any company could make a mega line work without repaints street fighter is way more popular so they can get away with more unique figures there.

  • @blindthought
    @blindthought Před 4 měsíci

    This may be an idealistic way of thinking, but it surprises me they couldn't just make a series of toys per game entry. We have 8 new robot masters for most of the main line games, not counting Mega Man 1 and Mega Man and Bass, so for a 9 figure line of toys, they could make each robot master along with supporting characters. For Mega Man 1 you'd have Mega Man, Dr. Light and Dr. Wily, MM2 could have Roll, 3 could have Proto Man, 4 has Dr. Cossack, etc.

    I'm not really mad at Bombman power Mega Man, because people will buy Mega Man. However, I think there is a work around, the unhelmeted version for wave 3 is more the direction they should go. Rush Armor Mega Man, Mega Man X and all the armor variants. I'd like to of course see Roll, Blues, Bass, Vile, and Zero but I imagine Jada is gauging interest.

    I'll never understand why we can't just get all the robot masters from each game as a set. No, not one off robot masters randomly plugged from a random game. A complete set with all 8 from each game. And for Pete's sake, stop making figures of the robot masters from MM1 and acting like that is what we've been asking for. We've seen several attempts at Ice Man, Elec Man, Guts Man, Bomb Man, Fire Man and Cut Man. Give it a rest! How about Dust Man or Dive Man or Pharaoh Man or Crystal Man or Tomahawk Man or Plant Man!
