If you are visiting the area then Thornton le Dale is just the most gorgeous place to stop for a few hours to wander around and explore this picture-perfect place. To have it running everywhere almost always at your side is very unusual. Was delightful!
@@MemorySeekers Sounds like you folks would appreciate Freiburg im Breisgau in Germany. There the old town streets have water running in all the channels in them to cool the unwary tourists' feet as they walk around gawping. The cathedral tower there is a filigree masterpiece and you can escape the crowds in the woods of the Black Forest east of the city. 😉

I am an Indian staying in Texas..there is a very slim chance of me visiting London, let alone this place.....so I appreciate you showing these small towns and villages as myself and my wife like to see the countryside and also watch Poirot and ETTC episodes to see quaint villages as well. 😊

I do enjoy these walks which I indulge in on my Sunday mornings as I sip my AM coffee ☕.....such a pleasant way to start my day off. 😊
One of my favourite places to visit. It has one of the most beautiful car parks in Britain, how many people can park in a walled garden. We park our cars in the parking spaces , surrounded by beautiful flowers , shrubs and trees, full of singing tweeting birds, squirrels and other little creatures. A walk through a small wood brings you to the village, so much nicer than the busy city roads most of us are used to.
It really is a beautiful village.😅
You are so right about the carpark, very well hidden and does not detract from the wonderful scenery.

For me 14:43 was best of today .. very captivating video ❤ & loved 😍 it , the sounds of water & english music was fantastic 👌😀 houses, stores, bakery, chocolate factory & church views are just stunningly adorable 😊 I must mention the roads are very good, clean & comfortable to walk or travel.. since my girlhood I dreamed to visit England but couldn't till now, but your blog brings me huge hope if providence allow I may visit in future for im still in 30's... thanks for sharing 👍 & with best wishes & good health to you both.

Lovely to take a walk through a town where nearly 500 years of my family have lived. I've never visited and now I'm in Canada so I don't think I'll have the opportunity!
as someone who has always lived a short drive away its so fascinating to see things like this. I really take for granted the area that I grew up in!
I love all of the little shops and cafes but you wonder with so many if they make a living from selling their wares. I love the birdsong when there were no cars going past. Thank you again. =-)

Yes the way it flows all the way through the village and by your side almost all the time, I cannot think of many villages we have seen where this is the case.

WOW---I'm the first Commenter ( unbelievable really ) What a trully fantastic 'Village'' this is . As you say, most famous, nationally, because of that very entertaining and interesting TV series ''Banger's and Cash', I'm tempted to add, 'The everyday story of a Auctionering family''.What really impresses is the completeness of the Village?--to me , it resembles a Town, with it's size and bustle. I drove through Pickering once, on my way to Whitby from Somerset, I wish I'd known how close I'd been to Thornton-Le-Dale. Thanks for a great view, and interesting information.
That was quite a drive from somerset! Yes so close to Pickering which is a very different place is size and feel. Still lovely there though! We do enjoy watching Bangers and Cash, so it was great to visit the village it is set in!

This place is dreamy. A must visit. Can you cover Sledmere, East Yorkshire. It’s like a Gothic fairy tale village with shire horses, deer and beautiful gardens & houses!

That is not an area we have been to so far. But if you have some suggestions of old villages or historic towns we can certainly add them to our travel list so we don't miss them when are in the area.
