      This one is, like all FM synth, deep and complicated. And that’s why I love that it has different & unique types of oscˋs.

    • @JakobHaq
      @JakobHaq  Před rokem +1

      It’s absolutely chock full of stuff. I can definitely see how this one can feel a bit confusing to many people. Even i had to take proper time with it before my mind was able to “settle down”. Interface is quite “busy”.

    Jakob, there were so many great synths in 2022, but a few really stand out in terms of innovation, UI, and sound design potential. Nambu is one of those, for sure. Although it’s a bit complex to figure out, the excellent layout makes the process easier. Thanks for another excellent walkthrough/tutorial. Uh-oh…TikTok calling…🤣

    Please sell all of your patches as packs (especially Nambu). This is a wonderful synth, but it takes a while to understand how to work with all of the variations available. We need more "templates" to start from and bigger premade patch libraries help to do this.

      I think those where the modules I spent the most time with when I first got the synth. At least the resonator. Just couldn’t help myself and ended up adding the to every patch I made. 😅

    I'm new to iPad music making, I've been looking for good synth apps and I hadn't heard of this one yet. I'm impressed by how flexible and versatile it looks, and how much fine control there is over every conceivable parameter.

      Drambo (Thats More an expert experimental synth), FabFilter Twin 3, Tera Pro, Moog Model 15, Moog Minimoog Model D. There Are a loot of good stuff for the iPad. You Can work professional with the iPad without paying thousands of thousands of Money and without sacrificing extra space for all the hardware.

    Nambu has been updated to work on Macs, so I've felt the drive to finally dive into it. I only watched the first part of this video before but now that I'm over the intimidation hurdle I found the longer tutorial fascinating! I'm sure you are very busy Jakob and I don't know if the work reward ratio is worth doing it but I would adore a part 2 where you do another kind of sound, perhaps exploring those loose ends you mention at the end. Maybe drum kit or exploring the sequencers or doing a deeper FM patch, whatever you feel would be fun for you to do I suppose. Love your videos!

    I am at almost two years of trying to teach myself sound synthesis on the iPad, and still consider myself a rank amateur. I find many synths difficult to control, because they are laid out in a way that makes it difficult to visualize the signal path, and thus better understand how the particular knob one is tweaking is affecting the result.
    What I love about this synth is how clearly one can visualize the path of the signal through the various modifiers and filters, and to see by tweaking and mixing them how exactly they are affecting the signal. It also looks like a great way to learn about the differences between additive and subtractive synthesis!
    Being a novice musician as well as a novice synthesist, I have the extra struggle of often being unfamiliar with even the basic concepts, like “what is the difference between a filter envelope and a mod envelope?”, and I feel that this instrument might really help me better understand those concepts.
    Once again, you have made an engaging and entertaining video that has brought me a bit further towards my goal of understanding this fascinating subject. Thanks so much for everything you do!
    I would love to see you do a series on the basics of synthesis, as my only difficulty in watching your videos is that they often assume a basic level of understanding that I don’t quite yet possess…

    For someone on a budget that is still looking for the best possible synth (that’s mostly interested in making their own sounds), would you recommend this, LaGrange, or something else? I have an iPhone and already downloaded all the free (and freemium!) synths

    • @JakobHaq
      @JakobHaq  Před rokem +1

      To be honest, there are so many free synths out there and if you’ve downloaded most of them, you’ve got enough to get started. If I where you, I’d start tweaking synths and make sounds until you get a feel for what you like and what you don’t like. Stuff like overall sounds, synthesis type, filters, modulation etc. At some point you’re going to start wishing for specific things and then you can start looking for what you need, making purchases that will last you a long time.

    • @Fear2Stop

      @@JakobHaq Yeah I’m at that point now…I’m mostly into wanting to make my own sounds but looking at cost effectiveness and user friendliness. I’m new to the world of Auv apps but not to music creation ( been recording since 2001 actually) . I currently have all of the stuff from AudioKit, Monolit, free version of Animoog Z, free Mynth, Viking , synthmaster player, overdrive synth, and synthmaster one . Been laid up with Covid and been watching the hell out of your channel and several caught my eye. Something like Animoog Z’s full version, as I love the idea of being able to “draw” patterns but that’s out of my price range for now. The stuff from Iceworks looks cool as well. Whatever I do end up getting I’m using as an auv inside GarageBand on iPhone. Looking at LaGrange possibly, or getting full version of Mynth, …this one looks cool too…but not sure if I should just save up…it’s all a tad bit overwhelming!
