I discovered the Dead South purely by accident, just love their sound. I was not surprised to discover they're a Canadian band!
Aboot that, eh? xD
During the bridge, the way Colton (banjoist) plays that 5th string like a drone string in clawhammer - yet while picking - pure mastery. I love it.
such a original band nobody sounds like them
Unfortunately I discovered them whilst coming down from a two week meth bender...that was 2 years ago and I am grateful that I saw their video IN HELL I'LL BE IN GOOD COMPANY...I searched every track they had up and have been a huge fan since and 2 years clean because of this awesome music
dont belive you
Peace brother .
Wouldn't that be FORTUNATELY?
Meth binges what a wild wild fun filled time all lost with everything working against you only to realize that the ones that really care are still waiting at your door with no judgment or scrutiny or that we just want you to get rehab look. Love n understanding n patience. All you need.
I'm glad you got off the habit now start really enjoying life and good music.
I know these lads are not from the East Coast, we can absolutely connect with them. Love what you are doing.
Watching the film Shane with the sound turned down listening to Dead South, pure bliss!
Every time I look at them reminds me of Terence Hill and Bud Spencer movies. Love this sound!
I've always loved bluegrass, but these guys take it to another level. Beautiful!
How on earth have I only just today discovered this great band???
Better late than never my friend !
that was my reaction 2 years ago! then to findout they have been around for a few years, my favourite song is Honey You! from the Good Company LP,,, get the version that comes with the Free CD,,,, keep the vinyl shiny!
@@freefromthematrix7323 - Cheers bro, I will be checking that out and yeah, crazy how they been around for years on the 'quiet' but luckily for us we found them!

lurk moar. I'm across the pond and found them due to the wonderful tech that is youtube.
I was at a rib fest in Toronto this weekend, in between performances he played this group. It is with pleasure for me to say this is a new level of bluegrass. A must at venues. #deadsouth. I’m hooked.
The Dead South. That's a great name for a western Bounty Hunter video game.
I never heard a band who is Life better then in the Studio
Found The Dead South by mistake and is one of the best mistakes, I listen to then a lot, wish I could get all their cd's. I have my wood burning stove going in my cabin looking out my picture window watching my live stock and know I am in heaven well my kinda heaven.
You have to love those happy little accidents
Sounds perfect
If you went out in the middle of the night and fucked a tree, then you’d be a true forest dweller. Until then; welcome to the great mistake. I salute you miss x
@@phil2003ashleigh the most significant thing ive read all year
try the Devil makes three and brown Bird. for me, even better bands. cheers.
I can't believe this is live wow!!
another song from their greatest hits album
Music is really such a powerful thing. I'm a 34 y.o. argentinian male with literally ANYTHING to relate with this band and yet moved by EVERY song they have. Big fan since the first time I heard them. P.d: sorry for my writting mistakes if there's any.
Suggestions for Argentinian bands?
me too it is powerful!
Ni hablar, los encontre por error en youtube y ahora no puedo dejar de escucharlos y ya hasta canto las canciones, cosa muy rara, todos los temas tienen algo q te atrapa y te hace querer escucharlos todo el tiempo.
@@MarkGoding the clasic bands from Argentina you can ear are, depending wath you like, Soda Stereo, Fabulosos Cadillacs, Autenticos Decadentes, Almafuerte, Malon, Attaque 77, those are some of the calssics bands that I like and diferents styles they plays, any of these are Bluegrass.
@@MarkGoding Wow, Soda Stereo for sure, Rata Blanca, Virus, anything related to Charly García, Bersuit Vergarabat, Those are Rock bands, we don't have bluegrass here 😅
I found The Dead South on Amazon music and have been loving the music ever since.
In August I will see them in my hometown in Germany. Finally! They have been one of my favourites for years. So much talent and feeling for the real bluegrass sound. Americana as I like it
They are Canadian!!
I am native American, grew up in the Blue Ridge Mountains... Damn, this music hits every nerve of my being.
What do you mean? Are there native american references in the song (sorry, I know nothing about Blue Ridge Mountains, or this style of music actually!)?
@@terriblepeanuts9476 no, there's no reference to native Americans. It just reminds me oddly of them. I guess you'd have to be one to get it.
I visited the Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina last Thanksgiving/2019 and it was amazing! All that blue shades under the sun in the landscape! Impressive and unforgettable!
This is europeans pioneers music, how can be related to native americans?! How it comes you feel this music "your" music?! Since europeans were on a side and natives totally on the other side?! 🤔
@@rafaelmangrone721 - You need to go educuate yourself. You really, really should. Oh and delete your comment, because you are really showing your ignorance to a lot of people.
Fuck I just found out about this band from a song playing at my aunts funeral and my god…. What a sound. It got me through it…
Fabulous 🇨🇦. I’ve always liked bluegrass but this is another level. The best music you’ll never hear on the radio.
awesome band. even my 7 year old daughter loves the tunes
They are certainly a generational Band. Will certainly be rated amongst the best ever. Love em!
I'm so glad that Colton Crawford is back! Big hug to all guys!
The Dead South rules!!!
Kristian Savov, glad to hear. I was about to make a comment that I wish he would return and come to TN, USA! Never was much of a fan of banjos until I heard this amazing band's music!
@@iriedee4047 listen to The Be Good Tanyas cover of Waitin Around to Die. Excellent banjo as well as everything. Think you'll like it. They're Canadian also
@@marthajf73 thank you! :)
Wow we all walking a different roads and I needed this ☺️ I love all your MUSIC
I got a hog dog catahoula who will run till hell. This song calms him.
I just found The Dead South yesterday. Something's going on, by reading the comments left here from others who just stumbled upon them, too. This is some of the best music ever, and trust me, I am picky about what I listen to and fall in love with.
Same here. Found around two weeks ago. Very good. For you from Germany: Annenmaykantereit - may you believe or "sometimes I like to lie".
man I love that harmony
I bought all their albums not long ago and periodically enjoy their music. but I want to say that live they make a stronger impression. if I live, in the fall, maybe I'll get to Warsaw for their concert!
Just been to see them at Black Deer 2022. Best experience ever!
@@truthcerum1222 In the autumn they will be in Poland - maybe I'll get there
@@DavidGarrick1515 try to get there. It will be awesome!
@@truthcerum1222 I hope !
These guys are so perfect, the equivalent to sleep on a bed made of Morgan freemans voice paired with angels lullaby
absolutely a great band and i wish we herd more of them in the uk
Please Come to Australia
Your all so talented.
Great voices, great style, great band, great music. I want you all to win lots of Grammy’s.
Talk about music not having barriers. I'm a Guatemalan immigrant who came to the U.S. Love this band. It too like many, speaks to me.
Old Wild West is back in Sunny, o no wait, burning Southern California. I'm driving through PCH and making a pit stop to watch the Pacific Ocean and pretending to play the guitar....love this band.
I am so jealous of my oldest daughter she saw them near Idaho. These guys are my favorite group
Wow Levi that’s amazing story! I’m Yaya this is my husbands old iPad so his name is there. So proud of you! Music can change your life! Proof! ✨
I can’t get enough- this music fills a void I never knew I had
Great name....dittytv ❤️🍫
You know when your looking for a particular song and by mistake come across a class band. Well that's what happened here and I listen every day. Thanks for the class song's...
Canada..the home of Americana in the times we now live in!!
These boys are the butter of music.
I am a Southern Woman to the very core of my soul. Sadly I exist in the midwest now. My Southern soul loves bluegrass. I just now discovered this band and I am in love. My grass will always be Blue.
The Dead South are one of the EXTREMELY rare bands, from which you can hear, and enjoy, plusminus every song of- not much bands are able to do that!
I dislike over half of their songs but they make really interesting music.
I dont like bluegrass. but the thing is, this is a group of a canadians interpretation of bluegrass which leads to some really unique songs.
I dont like their poppy stuff. I only like their dark stuff.
I'm a stupid Dane.. and I'm in love with the tune and all around it.. Invite me and I'll come.. damn sure

There are so many groups like The Dead South that do not fit into the "mold" that the music industry leaders think you need to fit in to be promoted. Thank goodness we have these wonderful groups that do not bend to pressures to conform so that those of us that appreciate variety of music get to enjoy all variations of this wonderful entertainment. These groups let us enjoy the full spectrum of what music is.
@@ronfullerton3162 - Which is why we have to support great bands like this. Screw the "industry".
I don't know what it is about them1 I'm a metalhead, I like the most extreme, grindcore and stuff and I go crazy for the Dead South. Gonna see them live in a month!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lucky you. :-D Maybe you like them because it's so basic, and good sounding, despite it's simplicity ?
Saw them in Orlando less than two weeks ago. WOW!
The old joke in punk circles is that we all end up traditional folk fans. Lot of metal fans like this stuff. Perhaps it is true for metalheads as well?
I mean, it's very similar in some ways to metal. Complex sounding rhythms with a simpler beat and often dark or depressing (or political) subject matter.
I hear ya
Good music is good music regardless of the genre...
I found this band on youtube searching for something and glad I did - and now becoming one of our favorite bands - great stuff - I hope they last a long time.........
i started with soviet propaganda and four songs later, this happens
I agree!
@@ARLimon74 They are excellent and have good music talent. I hope once this corona thing eases down, we can get concerts here in the states. I would definitely go see them.
"Spaghetti" is an incredibly fitting name name for this song.
Very man with no name vibe to it
Not only can the all really, really play, so synchronized/perfect timing, that it's just a pleasure to watch them, but the fact that they are so nicely dressed, as in ironed nice fitting clothes just adds so much to the appeal.
Cant believe they haven't been asked to do music for a Western movie yet !! their music tells a story so well it would be awesome
Ballads
Not many Western movies being made these days.
You guys have to ride with Morricone!!!! Bless You All!
I found them almost 2 yrs ago. Finally there was music than I can feel at home to. Finally found music I could vent to. Finally found music I can melt into.
Came across this group while listening to different genres of music on you tube. I'm glad I did. Being from East Tennessee I relate to the music. Good stuff.
These guys derserves so much more credit for there music. Thank you so much from our family...yeahh even our kids asks....can we hear them pleeeeease, and they are just turned 7 and 4 ! Please keep your love for the music . Thanks from us in denmark

Another great Masterpiece by "The Dead South"
And I found a great band today. Good stuff.

Soy Breton de Francia vivo en Mexico y como buen Breton me gusta todo lo que tiene que ver con Canada ......Vive le Quebec libre..Et vive le Canada...Los videos son muy buenos....el Humor ayuda a la buena musica...

I live in the UK love this sort of music what talent these chaps have
I like those Canadians and their music. I listen to this music often through my headphones on the streets)
Without a doubt one of the best shows I have ever seen.
I seen them live, hearing there music on the radio just does not do them justice, best live music ever.
i also agree , seen them in greensville SC
Evil Bert i wanted to go to the greensboro show but it was sold out. it would've been a lot closer too. but i'm glad i got to see them before they went back over seas. will def go see them when they return. merry christmas from NC to you as well 👍🏻
Evil Bert thanks bud
I agree, saw them in salt lake city. Killer show!
lucky travis!
Finally! They played this song in Olympia and I've been dying to hear it again. ♡
They deserve an audience that's alive at least
Sabrina Hutton I saw them in Denver at the Ogden theater. They had an insane crowd hyping them don’t worry.
And God came down from heaven and annointed four men with the responsibility of carrying his heavenly voice to all mankind
Чудово !!!
Been listening for a Little while now, Thumbs Up for Dead South THEY Deliver very 😎 Cool 🎶 MUSIC 🎵 . NZ based, how about touring ⬇️ Down Under deep south , If only dreams could come true.

Fantastic great harmonies great band come to Pittsburgh

ВЫ МОЛОДЦЫ!!!
Love this band, the whole performance, especially the street gigs like in Toronto. Please never stop guys! See You There...
Wish they released these live tracks on an album
new album
This song is great. I think it could win outside the boundary of their other songs helping them to know bigger crowds. Wish you all luck.
Rocking the cello, too cool.
My new favourite band!
Sir, you have a classic Western music voice, right up there with Marty Robbins and Gene Autry.
December 10th can't come soon enough! Grand Junction, Colorado
I found them about 6 months ago on CZcams. Nate's voice draws you in, then Scott, Danny and Colton capture you. You belong to them. This is not my typical musical genre. I am drawn. I can't ....
Same here. I typically prefer hard rock and heavy metal but man these guys jam.
These guys reveal the soul of the wild West in their songs

My Nephew sent me a link and I have to admit, I like them! A little morbid, but so is life.
It's unfair to pop country how good this is...
Thank you CZcams for randomly setting them in my playlist!

Haven't heard a song from them I dislike. Speaks to my soul.
