Todd rocks the house! After watching this video, it took me less than an hour to remove the 3.5 gallon whale tank from my sporty and install a peanut tank with the fuel injection pump. Didn't leak a drop. Now I just have to stop for gas every 30 minutes! LOL
i know that, did the same thing few ywars back and while it is less "capable", the 2.2 peanut it's just plain and simple one if not the most beautiful (IMHO) and appropriate gas tank for the Sportster... that being said, i also got myself this one and i'm waiting for it to be delivered... Todd is the MAN!
What about the Anti Vapor Valve Line? He did not hook that up on the new tank, and the new tank does not appear to have a stem for one. Is it unnecessary?
Can wait to get one of these and chop it up to fit my Honda Vtx 1300 and it's rectangular backbone. Might even hack this puppy in half and side mount the tanks.
Of course, Thank you ALL at LBC. No locktite on the pump screws? Do you know the torque specs for them? If I don't torque them, do you think blue242 and positive thinking will keep the tank from leaking? Be safe, have fun!
Made for sportsters, the mounts wouldn't line up. Anything can be made to fit with fabrication skills but this was meant to be a bolt on part for sportsters.
I would have painted the tank before installing it. Also, do these tanks come with the tank lined or does the customer have to do that? Today's gas has alcohol in it and tanks need a type of tank liner.
We suggest painting it too before putting it on the bike... We just didn't because it's a demonstration... The tank is raw, so if you are wanting to line it its on you.

can't find much on the interweb, i took a leap of faith and ordered it... maybe i will do a video comparison with another "Cole FOster Style" gas tank that i bought before this one but... sits pretty high on the frame and loses all the cool factor the COle Foster i guess intended when designed this tank... But, if you like the chopper style with raised tank, that one might fit the bill, also being smaller (2.2 gall)
anything is possible but its not a direct bolt on by any means. you would have to cut the tunnel of the tank to widen it fo the square back bone of a street bob and also figure out ways to mount it correctly. Not sure it would look that great to be honest but we have seen our tanks modified and put on big twins.
yes this tank is made fo for 2007 and up Sportsters and will fit your 2016 Sportster. They haven't done any major changes to the backbone / how they mount on Sportster models yet. Note* - Make sure before paint to do a pressure test on the tank or have your painter do one. Happy building

When painting the tank any advice on how to paint the area under where the fuel pump will be installed?

Can you change the fuelpump just like that? No grease or something on the gasket?

just swap like that. obviously the tank would be painted but no grease or anything needed.

should always test fit and do a pressure test before install
How much different is an 07+ Sportster fuel pump to a 2004 Softail fuel pump? I'd love to modify this tank to fit my EFI Softail

No need to reconnect the anti vapor valve?
This new Cole Foster tank does not have an anti vapor valve on it to use your stock hook up, you can remove it completely.

It would probably have to take some programing with a computer, etc... could possibly work though if the cpu connectors are the same

From the looks of it, those bars could be either some miniapes from HD, or chums from Biltwell.

Why not do a tank for earlier Sportster models? It seems it would be an easier tank to build.
We have tons of tanks for earlier sportsters... Not so many for the newer models hence this latest release 😁
