Y'know, I feel kinda bad for the Imperial planners here, they did surprisingly good work. The Lamenters, a Chapter who can be relied upon to stand up to odds that would make most of their peers baulk, would surely be an asset in the face of a warp storm. The Charnel Guard seems both unquestionably loyal and reliable - they'll do the job, even if the job is...uncomfortable. Again, surely an asset in the face of Chaos corruption warping local populaces, and the nice equipment is a good bonus, and makes up for the Mantis Guard's lack of toys I'd reckon. The Mantis Guard themselves know the area so well that their inclusion is a no-brainer, so good job on the planners for actually including them, and the Astral Claws sound like golden boys amongst golden boys for the Imperium. Sure, that 800 year stint is odd, but if they're still serving loyally...well, what is the Imperium going to do, NOT put their best and brightest at the head of such an important campaign?
It seems like a perfect setup. Surely, nothing will go wrong!

    Normal bad luck:
Trip on a banana peel, fall and hurt yourself
    Lamenter level bad luck:
Trip on a banana peel, fall on a bookcase filled with important documents (that seems to have materialized out of thin air) that tips over, bursts into fire for no real reason next to a leaking fuel tank (that ALSO seems to have materialized out of thin air) that in turn goes boom and turns an entire hive-city into a firestorm because for some unkown reason this very fuel tank was directly connected to every fueltank in the entire hive!
My theory on why the Lamenters have never been corrupted or influenced by the Gods of Chaos is because Nurgle don't want these walking accidents destroying his garden, Tzeentch don't want them anywhere near his well constructed plans, Khorne doesn't want them to accidentally cause skull-avalanches and tipping over his brass citadel and Slaanesh doesn't want to think about the accidents that could happen involving sex-toys.

Lamenters are the greatest Blood Angel descendant chapter because despite their misfortune, they push on. Their will to the Imperium stronger than adamantium. Their will is a dim resolute bulwark against the enemies of Imperium. Their compassion allows them to live despite being battered and broken. While their hearts continue to be broken, they continue to rebuild and push on despite the odds. That is why they are my favorite chapter. Their misfortune epitomizes their resilience and you cannot lament about that.

I feel like there is much potential in the lamenters story! For instance, things go wrong so often for the lamenters that they go to the Nth degree to account for those problems. They always expect the worst so they always prepare for it. Consequently, there would be no chapter in the Imperium who is as adaptable and fluid as the lamenters.
Bolter jams? Not even an instants hesitation and they have proceeded to contingency B, C, amd D.
The weak enemy turned out to be the strongest nut to crack? Sucks, but that's why they packed extra fuel to jet out of there quickly.

Ah, but only made so by constantly having their skills honed via bad luck; and therefore, only ever having to prepare for the worst case, rather than middling ones. And if their bad luck were to disappear, they would presumably be very effective for a while as they don't have to deal with a handicap, but quickly lose their edge without excessive paranoia; even worse, would that even work to enhance their capabilities without their bad luck narrowing down what could happen to "always the worst?"

You know, I’ve been reading up on the history of the Blood Angels as a Legion cuz I’m trying to write a book, and there does seem to be a point of commonality between the Lamenters and their parent legion, at least as it was before Sanguinius showed up - nobody liked them. I mean to the Lamenters’s credit, their biggest problem was an incredibly convoluted series of unfortunate events. But the original 9th Legion was just plain crazy. They were blood drinking, cannibalistic psychopaths who were so brutal that Rogal Dorn himself called for them to be censored for eating POWs captured during a siege in sight of their comrades on the walls. And with their uncanny ability to reinforce their numbers back to full strength despite getting the worst dregs of humanity as recruits, they seemed to have earned their nickname as the Revenant Legion. So you can imagine how the other Legions would rather just split the scene rather than work with the guys.

It's not such a wild theory, just one that very few in the Imperium would countenance. The High Lords and Mechanicus still hold vast reserves of Crusade-Era "traitor" genestock that supposedly has never been touched, and more than a few Chapters (of the Legion/Bellicosa organisation) of the Traitor Legions went rogue and either rejoined the Imperium or outright rebelled against their Primarchs. Between these Loyalist holdouts from the Traitor Legions and the rather murky origins of a worryingly high number of successor Chapters, I'd speculate that as much as a fifth of ALL currently serving Astartes are in fact sons of Traitors.
There's just been a lot of administrative fuckery to either conceal or "forget" their origins.
