    April 2020 Update : Sadly, production turns out to be very hard at scale. We can make 20 units ourselves easily but for more than 100 units the complexity of the assembly forces us to either put a high price tag (300-400$) , either make a much bigger remote. And it's hard to get guarantees that the 1000 or 10 000 units will work just as well as the 20 first units. So for the moment, I prefer to put the project on hold rather than risking selling an average product ...
    Just felt like something was missing to my BMPCC & URSA Cameras so with some friends we built Litty, a tiny Bluetooth remote for Blackmagic cameras. You can use it to control focus, aperture, rec start / stop and more remotely. Let me know your thoughts in the comments ! I use it for myself right know but depending on the demand we could build more units with a manufacturing partner.
    I would like to thank Christophe & the whole Blackmagic Design team for offering their support with the OEM program, which means we can get a few discounts on Blackmagic gear and fast support to help us bring this project to life !
    Compatible with Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K / 6K , Ursa Mini Pro G1 & G2.

    Seems like a fantastic product even though I don't use any of those cameras. ALL camera manufacturers need to add this kind of Bluetooth protocol to work with devices like this! Please contact Panasonic, Sony, Canon, etc to show off your product and request they add Bluetooth to their cameras. The world needs this!

Just concentrate on make it as useful as possible, you can always make a version 2 with fixed design problems, but at least the first version is competitive and functional, expand its potential.

  • @Dubi00
    @Dubi00 Před 4 lety

    Really got into your channel from your great videos! And now I know why you have taken a break due to this new device. My only concern is that the two apps already designed for the pocket4k work great for adjusting your camera settings while having a direct view of what you are adjusting like the iso and white balance. That being said unless you have a reference monitor or a wireless video signal, adjusting the camera in a unique area might be harder than you think if you don't have a reference of what you are adjusting directly. That being said I would suggest trying to add a very tiny LED screen that would swap data values, depending on the button you press. SO if the top button was set to ISO then the LED would show ISO values and so one. Also maybe having a dedicated record button, that way the 3 buttons can be left to be customizable....(maybe to match the top buttons on the 4k)! I would say 3 back buttons and maybe one dedicated record on the front as a trigger button and the back three as thumb buttons and then the dial for thumb and pointer. Also maybe think about having the dial and the record button as one? (button on top of the dial). If anything this is a great start for a hand/Trigger grip for Black Magic which no one has made yet, if you cant add a small LED screen.

    Good day. I understand production is on hold. However, I don't see a place to add my email on the website?
    Also, I think this could be popular with more marketing. Great job guys.

    Take my money! NOW.
    I've got an idea/request. I think it needs to have some sort of bracket, or rig-ready piece to attach it to tripods, rigs or gimbals. For examble i own a Crane 2, it will be amazing to strap it right to the handle!
    By the way. Great work. You are my inspiration and quality standard! I just stopped my youtube channel preparation to try to set the same image standard and quality as you. We need a channel like this in Spain/Hispanic zone!

      Oh! Another idea that could be great is to let users swap the knob! Like for placing a BIG chunky follow focus knob... You get me?

    Hey Zebra Zone,
    Can you turn the camera OFF/ON remotely also??
    Thanks,
    Tom

    Is this ever going to come out? Please say yes.

    Yes please!!! Just some suggestions for my use case:
    A fully wireless version with internal or removable battery would be great! If I'm not running this on a gimbal it'd be hard to power. I'd love to put these controls on the handles of my tripod/ monopod and never have to touch or cable to the camera body. Maybe AAA or 14650 removable battery? Also would focus pulling work through a Metabones or Viltrox? USB C would be awesome as well!
    Also, mounting. 1/4 20?
    Would love to see pricing at a competitive point to the Nucleus N from Tilta. You've got an interested customer in me.

      Thank you for all your suggestions ! So :
      - Integrated battery would make it bigger but we're considering it.
      - Works with Metabones speedbooster Ultra at least (didn't test the others but it should work).
      - USB C might not be there yet , takes more space than micro USB
      - Mounting... we'll see. Also takes up a lot of space to have a 1/4" thread.

      Zebra Zone yes I definitely see the space constraints. I for one would absolutely go with a bigger unit to have more features and be able to switch it easily from rig to rig if needed. I already use the Nucleus N system but it can’t trigger start stop and other functions that yours can do.
      Maybe after releasing this model do a battery powered “pro” version?
      Also, how does the Bluetooth pairing work? If the unit loses power does it reconnect automatically once the power cable is reattached?

      @zebrazone  Před 4 lety +1

      @@playmaka2007 Ok I get your point on the battery ! Yes you pair it once and then each time you turn it on it will very quickly connect to the camera automatically (max 2 seconds)

    • @playmaka2007
      @playmaka2007 Před 4 lety

      @@zebrazone AWESOME! The nucleus can have problems when losing power sometimes so that's great! On the knob, does it have hard stops? How many degrees does it rotate if so?
      What're the functions you can customize to the buttons? Can 1 button be programmed to switch the button functions from one set to another?

    • @zebrazone
      @zebrazone  Před 4 lety

      @@playmaka2007 No hard stop, it's an infinite knob. For the moment you can just set one function (ex Rec Start / Stop / HFR) to each button but not use a button as a function button. But this is just software so it could improve.

    I have bmsc4k. Will you be making it for this as well. Doesn't have to be wireless, a plug in option can work
